You can also upgrade the turbo by replacing it with one from a EA82T. Just make sure you use the crossover pipe and downpipe.

I beg to differ. The 84 T-Coupe I sold to Mr. Carb has it, and I have had 4 others that were also. When they first came out they were not water cooled, then the dealers called them back (not a recall) and refitted them with turbo's that were watercooled.

If you do drop the 4spd in, make sure you replace the clutch with the best and strongest you can get. The 4spd doesnt like the torque from the turbo Hopefully the engine has the upgraded turbo, with water cooling.

A mate removed the distributor and how It wont start

Remove the disty, remove the #1 sparkplug, put your finger in the hole then turn the engine by hand. When you feel the air being pushed out of the cylinder then you have it at TDC. Line up the rotor just to the right of the plug wire on the disty cap and when you set it in it should be lined up. -

May I suggest putting them in the Marketplace? Christmas is coming, and we all need to buy presents. Connie, I think you better get busy - you have no idea what this board can do And btw, sausage with M&C is quite good. -

I've done a few solo tranny R&R's, and its usually the shaft end thats not lining up with the pilot bearing. Make sure the car is secure and once the engine is tilted push the tranny in till it stops. Then you need to get physical with it and shake it around to make it slip in (dont go there guys). This will help it thru the clutch splines also, you might try turning the axle stubs to get the shaft to turn. -

Yep, what he said. A shield to protect the plugs and the back of a feedback carb. -

Attempting to diagnose self level susp issue
Turbone replied to Tachometer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Great info from the XT6 guru's. They helped me trouble shoot my suspension, but I had to many things going bad and didnt want to spend alot of money to get it right again. But I think we are forgetting that the car in question was damaged in the area of the compressor and air tank. I'm surprised the comp works after taking a hit, but theres definatly some damage done to some other components like the air tank, lines and probably the shock(s). -

Attempting to diagnose self level susp issue
Turbone replied to Tachometer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Most likely one of the sensors inside the shock itself. When this doesnt work the compressor wont run. I had the same problem on my XT6 and when I replaced the front with Legacy struts the stupid compressor started working again You will need to replace the air shock on that side to fix it(if you can find one). And the price new is like $150ea. -
What are you doing with the other leftovers? I might have a home for them (minus the diff).

Have you installed the stock temp sensor yet? -
Do you have a Tach in it? Shift at 3K RPM, this will give you optimal rpm's for drivibility.

Operose, your right - my bad. Thats what happens when you post early AM -
After some more thought on this I dont think its a freeze plug. The pop you heard was the rad cap coming off, and the water running out was what was coming out of the rad too. The engine was producing back pressure in the cooling system, or maybe the cap wasnt on tight? Maybe a bad thermostat that wouldnt open caused it? But then the temp gauge would go up if that was the case. What kind of HG's did you use on the rebuild? How old is the Rad? Yeah, I know. Just more questions....

Well in most circumstances our definitions are the same. But when it comes to slang, we are totally different. A long block is the entire engine. Block, heads, intake and all the other accessories. A short block is just the block, with none of the heads or other parts mentioned above. Rice. This is what we call a car thats had alot of bling bling put on it that does nothing for the drivebility, handling or performance of the car. Honda's? They generally deserve the Rice label We like to stomp them in racing with our "Old Gen" Soobs against their big $$ cars. Altho there are some really hot performance Honda's (VTEC), most the time they just try and look fast. Here are a few more abbr: TPS - Throttle Position Sensor DP - Down Pipe for a Turbo'd Soob WS - Wind Shield (or screen) PB - Push Button (for 5spd single range) -
You DOG! Did you get any pics? I saw some of the show on Speed, but they just showed all the name brand stuff. Some pretty cool stuff there, thats for sure.
