My black 89 RX
Aw come on, I'm not trying to make anyone jealous. Just wanted to show it off a little, and I did wait for almost a year to get it. Any time I was looking for parts for it (I knew what it needed) I was teased by some So, does anyone know of a good cleaner/polisher to take off the oxidation? I got all the moss and crud off Thanks for the heads up Scoob, I'll keep Aarons in mind.

My black 89 RX
Jerry, thanks for the offer. But I have no way of getting it over here. If I could get a few parts off it, that would be great. I have already put another rear bumper on, and need to replace the tail lights. But other than the engine(which I have) there is nothing this car needs but TLC. I'm going to beef it up a little, no monster. The typical stuff, intake-exhaust. This is going to be a daily driver, so a lift isnt going to happen. Tho I did like Ross's setup. Maybe I'll find another 3dr this winter and lift it The side skirts and rear skirt is missing, I'll be looking for a set Corky, I think if I used some gold pinstripe, the rear bumper will look fine.

Corky, no it doesnt have the gold stripe, but I plan on fixing that. And JWX, you had your opportunity for one of my cars before:)

My black 89 RX
Flow, I got the XT some time after you came over. For some reason I was the only one interested when the person posted it for sale in the marketplace. Well, not the only one, there were a few on the East Coast that were whining But the guy was nice enough to hold it for me till I sold one of my rigs. I drove around 150mi round trip to look at the car last year, and he delivered it today (for a fee, of course). I have already replaced the back bumper (he threw that in, with another full set of studded snows on WW's). Theres a few small dents/large dings, but nothing that cant be fixed easily. And I have some real nice wheels that will be going on too (stock 13's). At least till I can do a conversion like Tex did on his  Oh, and btw, I'm looking for some parts. Both rear taillights are broke and the side and rear skirts are missing.

My black 89 RX
Edit** I went back and found the original thread I started when I got my RX. Didnt realize its been its been this long, what a journey. I'm combining some other threads to this about my upgrades and stuff. After a year of waiting and hoping the owner wouldnt sell it to someone else or fix and drive it, I finally got the car I've been wanting. Black 89 RX Full Time 4wd with diff lock, LSD rear end, rear disc, etc. These are the beginning shots. As it progresses I'll be taking more pics. The engine was ran out of oil, so its got "some" issues. The thing got so hot, it melted the rear bumper around the exhaust pipe. I've already got the motor to replace it, and a spider intake also. So, what do ya'll think? Is it a keeper? Corky, I'll email the Vin # to you.

how to check for a bad coil ea82t
Pretty much what he said above, and also missing under load. And finally crapping out and leaving you stranded somewhere in the middle of BFE. Yes, it happened to me Oops, sorry... the Wife (even worse)

Wheel Types
The Enkies are rare, get them if you can. Just make sure they fit a Soob. I had the 4 spokers on my coupe, and today I put a set of EA82 H alloys on, and to tell the truth they just dont look that great. Maybe just because they are on a EA81

damage pics (thrown rod)
Well, I think you win the prize for the worst damage ever to a EA block Thats a huge hole

Well, its gone

RX Wheels
I have a set of Peugeot 14" alloys with 195/65 tires on a 86 wagon with no rubbing at all.

Well, its gone
The reason he isnt allowed to drive it at the moment is becuase I still have the title. It hasnt been paid in full yet, and he is doing work on it. Believe me, I will be back. And I will have a better rig, and like I commented in another thread, it will be built by me. The biggest reason for the sale was because of my back. That last run we made to Kanaskat was a wake up call Once things get straightened out (surgery), I'll be looking for my next 4x rig.

Electrical help
The lights dont cost that much, and if the old light is good at least you have a spare.

Attn:SubieGal or someone who knows her
Thanks Austin, communication is sometimes forgotten when people get preoccupied. Good to know things are still on a even keel.

Well, its gone
She needs to know that off roading is good wholesome fun (I was going to say clean, ha). It will keep you off the streets and out of trouble, so to speak. If you dont get to crazy and get yourself stuck or to broken to drive out. I hope he doesnt drive it on the street to much, its not really good for a daily. But I'm sure he's going to enjoy it When my next project shows up, I'll have pics and stats.

Well, its gone
Sold the Hatch today to DeathHatch (catchy name, eh?). He has a new color scheme in mind, and we should see him on the board more, hopefully. He might be looking to go wheeling sometime soon also Hopefully my "New Project" will be showing up this weekend, and I will be posting some pics of it. It needs a motor transplant, so it wont be on the road right away. But I think ya'll gonna like it Its a streeter, not a off roader.

Hey you offroaders using welded diffs!!
When my diff was open, I was getting stuck all over the place, even in snow. It did ok in the mud, which surprised me. Once I got the welded diff in it was a whole nother story. The car wouldnt stop, it would just dig in and keep going. My diff hanger has been bent from the begining, and it still is :-\ There hasnt been any axle or stub problems, that may be because mine is a hatch (this will be all past tense after today ) Altho on our last outing I tore out the left side diff mount I wouldnt go any other way, except maybe a locker (straight axle).

RX Owners Please look
I may have one for you this weekend.

Gen one steering question
Does the steering wheel move up and down in the column at all? I had a 85 wagon that did this, and I found out theres a poly collar around the shaft at the top. It wears out eventually and the wheel knocks and moves around some. I dont know if this is the same setup as yours tho, so this could be just pointless rambling at 1:30am.

Any tire dismounting tips?
Metal cutting blade on a Skil Saw works too. Just be carful not to cut into the rim

Electrical help
Well for one thing, your explanation is a little confusing. You might have blew out your low beams. If so you are going to have to buy new headlights. I would also have your alternator tested as the regulator might have been damaged, not to mention the rest of the unit.

The condition of all the hoses, escpecially the water lines and specifically the ones that cool the turbo. You may want to ask when the timing belte were changed last, but you may change them again just for peace of mind. You might see about a CarFax also. Did you ever get my email about the John Muir book?
