  1. Thanks for that pic Nick, it fit perfect And ditto's on what Tom said, need to clean your terminals. Anchors away!
  2. Has anyone thought of fitting a sail yet?
  3. Hmmm, are they for sale?
  4. Not sure if you would want to go bigger with that style of engine. If you want more HP, I might suggest a EJ20G. There have been more of these transplants happening here.
  5. Well before you mentioned that you have oil in your coolant, I was going to say something about your water pump. Like how old is it? I would certainly do a compression check to find out if theres a leaky HG, this would rule it out. Seeing how your in the hot and dry part of the country, I would go thru your cooling system and make sure that its 100%.
  6. The oil pump has O-rings which help keep the pressure constant. When they get old, they shrink. Then the pressure drops and the lifters do not get enough oil. Thats why they tick. Here in the States a kit cost $8-$12US. Altho removing the pump can be a little tricky sometimes, its fairly straight forward. Do you have a Factory Service Manual? I think the cheaper ones will tell you how to remove the pump too. Smaller exhaust for a turbo is not good. Its needs to flow, back pressure is not needed. Here is a interesting site that will give you a little more info on Turbo's. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo.htm
  7. Hey Mick, I have something for the Grizz. Shoot me your mailing addy.....you'll like it
  8. Your car is suffering what is commonly labeled as Turbo Lag. It sounds like it already has a manual tranny in it, so the only thing to be done there is maybe put a Limited Slip Diff in (make sure the tranny ratio matches, most LSD's are 3.7 but can be changed to 3.9) The lifters are hydraulic and shouldnt be adjusted, unless the heads were rebuilt. Its most likely the oil pump that needs to be resealed, which is quite easy and cheap. If you could share more detailed info on the upgrades, I personaly would love to know. And welcome to the board
  9. All the folks that have serious off roaders usually put thier fans on a switch. That way when its time to hit some water you turn off the fans. Even if it doesnt make contact with the rad, the fans are not designed to be propellers They will throw water all over the engine compartment also.
  10. You could start your own dearlership
  11. And its my fav color too
  12. If the car has a sunroof, its for opening it manually. There is a small plastic button just to the left of the map light, this is where the wrench goes to open the sunroof.
  13. Maybe if they had almost new tires on them, $200 would be a decent price. Most 15's around here go for $100 a set. If they had good tires, add another $100.
  14. Your asking more for the Pugs than your paying for the Enkies. Just becuase you are working at Aarons, you dont have to charge like Aarons.
  15. Sorry, I should have mentioned this in my first post. I just had to replace the cross over on my 86 Turbo Wagon. I tried changing the gaskets, but the leak wasnt there. You couldnt see, feel or hear exactly where it was leaking. So I jacked the motor up, removed the pipe and replaced with a extra I had. Its hard to hear it running now.
  16. Are these the same ones for sale? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15061
  17. This is something that cant be worked on while still on the car. The cross over pipe has a shield on it and most times isnt removed. At least I never have. If possible find a replacement. If you cant find a replacement, have the flanges cut off the pipe, then have them welded to a new pipe. I have one a car right now like this, so its been done before. Good luck, and welcome to the board.
  18. Very pricey, but they should have what you need. http://www.paintscratch.com/
  19. What size are they? They look pretty nice, but $200 bills I guess with new tires thats not too bad. If you get these, how much do you want for your 15's?
  20. Welcome to the board I am also a proud owner of a 86 GL-10 Turbo Wagon
  21. Maybe he means he's apologizing for any mistakes that he is going to make:rolleyes:
  22. Get some sleep, will ya? It makes things go alot smoother when your clear headed;) Hope you get it together ok.
  23. The only way to test the switch is to use another one. But seeing how you shorted across from the small terminal to the main power on the starter, I would say you have something else going on here. You should definately get something there when you short across. Did you have the ign turned on? It should still turn the starter over with it off tho. Try hooking up power to the old disty with it removed from the car, check to see if its working. That should rule out a bad starter. You may have even got another bad starter? I'm grasping at straws here.......... Will it start with a jump? If it does then the battery could be bad.
  24. You put in a EJ20G and lie Really, you cant get that much HP out of a 1.8 Turbo, even with NO2. I'm sure there are some that will argue, but as far as I know no one has got there yet.
  25. It could be in the ignition switch. Check the big pink plug under the dash to the right of the steering column. Make sure there isnt a meltdown happening there, it does happen. If thats ok, you may have to pull the switch off the back of the ignition and replace it. Just remove the steering column cover and on the left where the wires go, is the switch. 2 screws and its off. This is also a common ign failure. Youo may have to find one in the JY, or ask in the marketplace for another one.
