  1. The caliper pistons require a certain tool to turn them "clockwise" back in. You can usually get them at a parts store, the one I have is square with pegs, and fits several different cars. You should bring the usual tools for Soobs, a small socket set, vise grips, both types of screwdrivers and probably a hammer.
  2. You probably loosened up some sludge and blew out the carbon Dont know about your other post :-\
  3. We'll be waiting for you. You will see alot of changes when you get back, something else to look forward to. Watch your back, stay safe. Semper Fi
  4. I cant believe the guy said that! Glad the red flags went up, I think I would have choked trying not to laugh. Altho its ok to have a little seepage, it also depends on where the oil is located. When it blows white smoke, it means the oil seal on the turbine side is leaking. Blue smoke means its leaking from the compressor side oil seals. When it is a leak on the compressor side, it blows oil into the plenum/throttle body. If there was oil in the air box, this baby had something real wrong But I guess we will never know, seeing how it was in such a delicate state.
  5. Ed, you might be right. I bought some alloys a few months ago, but they were 13"s.
  6. Then may I suggest buying a manual first? Get to know your car better, sometimes you cant get real personal info of your car from the internet. The search function works quite well also if you use the right key words.
  7. In the PAP yards around here, the Steels are $7.50 and the Alloys are $15. Not to many folks here have the denero to go and shell out that much for new(?) stuff. But thanks for the info.
  8. If you are going to lower your ride (the correct way), do you have to use XT6 front coils? Or can you use 2wd XT front coils? What's the best way to lower the rear? Is there any other way besides cutting the springs? Are there any other Soob coil overs that are shorter than standard EA82's? I would like to lower my RX an inch or more, but want it done right
  9. Hopefully you have some pics on its best day(s). You will need to show these to your Agent (or however). I wish some of the guys that have been thru this before(Bratsrus1, and a couple others) would pipe up and give some better details. But considering how long this post is staying on top, I'm sure one of them is going to see it this weekend. The point is to get top $ for your car, so you will have the money to replace it with one of equal or better value.
  10. Any obvious oil seepage between the turbo unit. Check all the cooling lines, water & oil. If it smokes real bad it could be the seal in the turbo. Take it for a drive and see how well it pulls. If things feel all right while driving, push it a little. When you get back open the hood and take a look around for oil/water. If there is a lack of power, it could be from a clogged downpipe/cat. Ask the owner if they let it cool down before they shut the car off. One good thing about the EA82 turbo units, they are cheap to replace and easy to find.
  11. Well, the way its going to play out is the person that hit you from behind is either going to be cancelled or thier rates will go up. Then they will offer you some ridiculess price for your car. This has happened on a few occasions to others from the Board. You need to go out and get prices of your vehicle with all the options and the best condition, to show them the actual cost of your car. Dont take anything less then what you think its worth (within reason, bluebook and in perfect condition)
  12. Got the same prob with mine, just need to get off my arse and add some grounds
  13. Well, Martin posted what I was going to mention. The 05 OBW is going to be liscensed as a truck. This way they can increase the ground clearance, etc. So tabs and stuff will be costing more, which is not good right now due to the increase in fuel prices
  14. I really think you should see a Dr, and make sure the Insurance Co. knows about it. All bills should go to them. There needs to be a paper trail so you can be compensated. Get ahold of the perps Insurance Co also.
  15. Very glad to hear no one was hurt, altho sometimes it takes a few days for more symptoms to arrive. Real sorry about the XT also. If you keep an eye on the Marketplace, someone is bound to be selling, or know someone that is.
  16. Read again. Its just a plain ole XT
  17. Eh, my old one is posted a couple of posts above Currently with out a lifted Soob. Have to wait till later this year to build a new one. I think I'm still a member of the HP
  18. Welcome to the board, and congrats on your new purchase Its nice to know that owners of high end vehicles know when to give a nod to other makes that deserve it
  19. Well, the tires you have are huge! Due to the fact I'm still on dial up, I cant view your vids. But from the still shots you have, it doesnt show you climbing anything. Theres that small shelf, it would be nice to see you climbing that
  20. If the large end of the boot comes off you will loose the grease thats in it, and also get dirt inside. This will eventually destroy the CV joint. Its harder for stuff to get in and out from the small end of the boot. But water can get in, so you can either try and tighten it or replace it. Welcome to the board
  21. If the wide part of the boot stays on the axle ends it should be ok. You might see if the clamp can be tightened, but some take a special tool. They are replacible tho, you can get them from most parts stores.
  22. Keep your panties on, its all in good fun Theres reasons why its being handled this way. You know, for several years now we have been doing more and more increasing mods to our Soobs. Each time we make improvements. Some are small, some are big. It seems theres some people out there, even some that own Soobs, that dont think they are capable off road. This time its going to be in thier face Done with rant, I aint saying no more. Oh, and big kudo's to the crew. They worked thier butts off.
  23. There are 4 fusible links on the drivers side fender. They control other functions besides the engine. It wouldnt hurt to check them. All you have to do is feel if the wire is loose inside the sleeve, or a connection is loose. It would also be advisable to check the fuse panel for loose/bad fuses for those functions.
  24. I got off work early last night and went and had a peek. Guys, the bar has been lifted to new heights To some "people" that think Soobs are for the paved roads only, this is something that will make your "other" rigs want to go home and think of some better (and more $) mods. Ken said there wont be ANY pics of it until its done, and on the knarliest trail at Evans Creek.
