  1. Thanks cd45, This being a turbo'd vehicle the Boost Gauge and the A/F ratio meter are in it.
  2. John please use the "Post Reply" button lower LEFT not the "Reply" button (lower right, in the thread body) unless some part of the post is being refered to specifically (see below). Thanks for understanding. As for your question. This is an electronic "watch dog" used in some ECUs that prevents the engine from exceeding a set RPM. I doubt it would be set at an RPM = 105 MPH in this Legacy but Canada may have rules I do not know about.
  3. Hi Johnny, welcome to the USMB Before you go out for your drive Check the rather large black plastic box located under the hood. Just behind the pass side headlamp. In the foreground on this picture See if you can move the top by hand. You should not be able to. As J said it may be unclipped this could cause some issues. As far as I know, no Legacys ever had governors. Hope this helps? 165 KMPH = ~ 102.5 MPH
  4. thanks JesZek, coming from you who I know has seen a lot and done even more that means alot -thanks!

    light rack?

your title says "rack so I guess this doesn't count? The aux (2 Hella, 2 KC)all have 100 w lamps wired via relays to come on with the high beams. (road car sorry) I have an XT6 alt, and have rewired the old below bumper turnsignals to the corner lights beside the factory head lights (Osram ultrvisions) Here is one of my Brats that can play off road 'Yota" truck bar by Jackman (I believe) modified to fit with a blue tip hotwrench
  6. Do as Tom says then check the connection to your ADS (Anti Diesel Solenoid)
  7. lets guess a Subaru T-stat is good for 50,000 miles -- 25$ = online about half that. so 2500 pennies/50000 miles I'm no good at math? But new math says 25/500 - looks cheap to me in cents (as in common) per mile?? I'm sure I'm wrong?? What's a blown headgasket cost to fix??
  8. G, you aren't talking about this are you? Seems to me this can cause idle issues. (AABV anti after burn valve) Or maybe the AIS silencer? is what you meant? Thanks to mountaingoat for the pic
  9. sub360, you've dealt with these Fleebaggers more than most. Why does this guy have such a high "Buy it now" What do figure his reserve is? ~ 1700? My bet is his knuckle head tech has something to do with the missing chunk and doesn't want to fess up to it. "But Boss the BFH had a mind of it's own!!" Does anyone think the block could have been broken by freezing?
  10. Is this a test? "My CEL light came on again while driving to work this morning. What should I check next?" Is the answer? the error code stored for the reason the light came on?
  11. a compression test (better yet leak down test) may show something a vacuum gauge can reveal things A can or two of Seafoam has worked miracles on some. One in the tank and one through the carb (slowly).
  12. I know this is not the forum to mention this but could it be the law was written so when an officer of the law walks up to a car window he can see if the crack head behind the wheel has a 357 magnum pointed at him?
  13. thanks Mellow, I wish some other people would be as considerate as you!! Records show the EJ22 change was made in 97. You do have the best of both worlds AFAIC. My 4EAT EJ25 Oh Bee is the worst of both worlds. Well done.
  14. very well put Scott!! plus your tootsies may suffer frost bite even in a off road toy
  15. I'm buying into the " or something along those lines" If the ECU is sending a signal, the distributor must be turning. The signal is so small it needs amplified before being sent to the coil. BUT The loose screw is a real possibility, if Newold means spark when he says "power" e.g. "it had power going to the cap but not to the plugs," As a side line, even the Subaru stealer failed to find my bad ig amp when it went bad.
  16. hatchsub's reed valves are toast common problem Some older models let chunks of plastic get into the carb throat and hold the thottle plate open (yea, happened to me) If you have a visual inspection will they miss it? You could believe Hatchsub and try to pass or believe the Subaru engineers that designed the system. Your call.
  17. The priciple behing the AIS is to provide enough 02 in the exhaust so that the cat can burn the unburned combustion by-products. You may fail a smog check that uses a tail pipe sniffer.
  18. I bet he does not know about the ignition amplifier (so called in my 89 FSM) This power transistor is mounted on the coil bracket (see below). It amplifies the signal from the ECU and sends the amplified signal to the coil. See if the bracket is well grounded (a must) If it is the problem they can be had for around 25 USD here.
  19. After some experimenting. I found the A pillar pod designed for the late 80s Honda CRX, Interga ect. Works rather well. Seen on the left in the top picture
  20. I have several questions after this comment WAY NICE Oh BEE!! 1) Did it come with those nice roof racks? 2) 1997 was the first year for the interference 2.2 is yours still non-interference? 3) Could you by chance resize the picture so some of us less fortunate folks don't have to shift the screen to read what you type?
  21. thanks Porc, Coming form a Guru such as youself that means alot, I repeat, thanks again.
  22. Two items 1) does CO in your part of the state require an IM* sticker? * Emission 2) Have you ever heard / met a guy named Ted that makes antler jewlery?
