  1. I have a code also Please if I may ask First is it the white connector with the green and red wires to it? If so which is terminal "L" the green or the red wire in the terminal?
  2. it has a very nice rumble ask Meeky Moose he and Scrapdaddy heard it. Lost no low end, feels better through the entire rev range It also has a Weber conversion.
  3. Here is what I did for my Brat dual setup
  4. A balance tube or better yet an X connection is advisable.
  5. I don't read "on the thrown" more important things going down at that time but "How To Keep your Subaru Alive" (down loadable) Can be entertaining. (more than a FSM anyhow)
  6. Either battery terminal cab be used. Negative would be easier. Hope this crude picture helps.
  7. squirt some PB Blaster around the section going into the block as you rotate it back and forth. Pulling up at the same time. If it moves up a little squirt some more and push it back down. repeat. They can be a pain.
  8. Hi Buddy, I have tried those wally world batteries I call them "Never start" You may have a paristic draw on the battery. (i.e. small constant drain) to test for this get a low wattage light bulb (parking light, dash light ect.) Pull one connection off the battery and connect the lamp inline (series) with the connection and the battery. If you have a draw (current flowing) the lamp will glow dimly. The brighter the glow the bigger the drain. Hope this helps.
  9. There are going to be a LOT of welders out there that disagree with this statement. With proper chamfering and heat settings, the joint will be stronger than the surrounding steel.
  10. Okay guys shoot me for being old scool old fool. Can he test the EGR control solenoid like we could on the EA series engines? (Resistance check of the coils for ~35 Ohms) Do they fail with anywhere near the regularity that the EA solenoids do? If this is not relevent please dismiss it as just some rambling from an aged fart.
  11. "If you have no cats, the o2 sensors will always read too rich, even if they are new. " I don't think this is true in an OBD I car with only one 02 sensor. The sensor still heats up, puttting it in closed loop, and sends info about the 02 content to the ECU - cat or no cat behind it. Possibly Miles wants this situation? Where the ECU stll adjusts the mixture based on info from the single 02 sensor. I do agree without changing perhaps the intake and all the sensors that it would work properly.
  12. I'll add if it (the engine) is out and you are doing HGs. The cam covers come off and there are flats on the cams for an open ended wrench. If it was wee weein' down a storm of freezing rain I'd go out in the shed and get a pict.....LOL
  13. Porc, I think he is asking how to get the switch body open to get to the lamps once the switch is removed. This is a picture of his car. I was asking earlier for him.
  14. you're welcome sockets are pretty hard and brittle I used my lathe and a cutoff tool to get the "ring" You might provide them with a proper sized socket. I do have higher resolution pictures if they need them.
  15. welcome to the USMB four fleet It sounds like this leak is coming from the front of the engine Cam seals and crank seal can leak into the timing belt area and can drip as you say. My advise is clean it add the oil dye and use an ultraviolet light to spot it. (auto part stores stock this) If it is the timing belt cover the belts could be in jeopardy. Or could be oil soaked and toast. Therefore all alacrity would be meritorious.
  16. Howdy AZ, welcome to the USMB. Please give the miles on your car and any recent service besides the plugs. The problem may be the same. do as four fleet says If it is the same, spark plug wires come to mind. The general consensus here is you MUST use OEM wires, not aftermarket (some report good luck with Magnecore wires also) Please, get the stored code read and get back to us.
  17. Here is the tool I made five or six years ago. I cut a socket off and fabricated the handle out of stainless steel bar stock. The step at the socket fitting is important (bottom pict.) If you want better pictures or dimensions or if you want to borrow it. Please email me.
  18. thanks for the info Uber this post by Xoomer was about not having enough heat while driving. Sounds like you have that covered in your situation.
  19. I'll get on the tapered pipe plug band wagon Just remember when you buy the tap that it says "NPT" National Pipe Taper not "NPS" Nat. Pipe Straight. Do you have an idea of the hole's diameter? I do not remember you saying the engine is in or out of the car, Is drilling the hole to the proper size an option?
  20. this could be a vacuum issue as the Beast says. No turbo light and 0 " Hg on the vac gauge indicate this. (you should change this to a vac/boost gauge, BTW) The turbo light is triggered by a pressure switch located in front of the pass side strut tower. The WDS (Wastegate Duty Solenoid) is also located in this area. This is between the MAF/aircleaner box and the tower. Might look for the line, this checking both ends for breaks ect.
  21. Ub, no that is fine. I have expierenced the heat (temperature wise) it not hot enough for me using the 180. The ~15 deg increase made a big difference to me anyhow.
  22. Xoomer, do as GD says your T stat is functioning properly but it is a lower temp T-stat than you need in winter. I went through this with a turbo wagon I had. Look at the Tstat it should be stamped what temp it is. It may be in deg C 193 deg F = ~ 90 deg C Nice picture Ed, well done.
  23. Yes, the discussion thus far has been for the auto trans A.K.A. 4EAT (4 speed Electronic Automatic Transmission) Manual trannys use a different system. Changing, rather than checking is the recommended procedure. No Seafoam is not what is suggested (I didn't know they recco'd it for automatics - I'll look) Nipper mentions Lucas tranny conditioner. Available at most parts stores
  24. waimaks, your Brat is as beatitful as your country Very nice job on the picts!! I am going to assume you are working on the front bumper? What's up with the SuperTrapp on your nice red cou pay?
