Running on all...3?
Jerry DeMoss replied to funcle's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPull the plugs and check them.If they have never been replaced then it would be good to start there. Then if that doesn't help I would then move the the plug wires.

The choices...
So what are you planning on doing with the intake manifold?I am sure it will be wicked.

body/engine question
So what tranny are you going to use Jeff?Rx type with the center lock diff or are you going the D/R route?

Can anybody help me?
Do you mean the throttle cable?Check vacuum hoses for disconnected ones and check the MAF to see if it is connected. Also what were you working on that made you have to disconnect everything?

rings/whistle during acceleration
Jerry DeMoss replied to vanbasten's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCould just be a belt.Or the problem may lie in the harmonics of the belt tensioner.

Weber 32/36 too rich?? Too Lean? Wrong Jets Maybe?
Yep you nailed it! I would put my money on the accelerator pump diaphram.Especially after all the other crud you already cleaned out of it.

body/engine question
Honestly Jeff do you really need a turbo? Jeff+TurboEA82+LSD= Something crazy and possibly disasterous!

The $200 Wagon
Really nice car Mike!I can't believe I didn't notice this post with the pictures before.I am sure pugs and a lift are eventually in the works? I am glad that you got an spfi engine in there to begin with so you don't need to muck with that later on.

Offroad Subaru Alaskan Style
It is most likely a summer rig and you just don't need them till about october.I guess most people don't know that unless you have been there.

EA-81 in 87 wagon - impressions
That is pretty cool you put the ea81 in that car!I love those little engines. One down side is that at higher altitude they really suffer with lack of power from the carb.I don't think the ea82 n/a would of had much more power. At least you know it is a pretty bulletproof engine.

Dual Batteries?
That is a great picture Mick. What type of adapter is that on top of your carb?(Also the one that goes back to the spare tire area with the filter?)

Offroad Subaru Alaskan Style
This is true. I grew up on the Kenai peninsula. There I learned how tough and unstoppable subarus really are.A friend of mine had an early 80's wagon that he used to jump in the ditches along the road. And just run the logging trails full speed. The cops hated us when I was growing up,tearing down the dirt roads and making lots of noise just running a straight pipe exhaust.Just ask anyone from Alaska if the Caribou Hills are at all chalanging?I was able to make a few big trucks mad in a stock suby.

body/engine question
Yes you can definately do it.Also yes you can swap the lights on a ea82 chassis body.I know DrKrazy has a nice set that would be perfect for that.

here are some parts you will never see in america !56k beware!
I agree.I would grab a set of those wheels as well if they were available.

Coolant reservoir overflowing
Jerry DeMoss replied to edrach's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSounds to me like there may be a pocket of air in the cooling system somehow.Maybe the coolant isn't able to completely make the cycle through and purge out the air,and such making the excess coolant that has no where to go but to the over flow bottle. Just a thought. Another idea is that your radiator cap is failing to hold pressure and making the extra coolant go to the bottle.Good luck.I am anxious to hear what it turns out to be.

ea81t is nearing completion.......
i Don't mean to sound stupid but are you talking about a ground wire? BTW-Glad to hear you can hang with the ea82t guys!I always thought it was possible.

The choices...
I agree with Mick.Shave the heads .050" and port it like mad,and go with the ea71 pistons.
-
ea81 cowl induction hood?
Actually that was one idea I had cause I am going to put a hoodscoop on my hatch also.

spfi pistons for EA82
Forgot to add that you are probly better off just going with a spfi short block and then just put your heads on that.Probly cheaper to do it that way if you end up finding a good low mileage short block.
-
spfi pistons for EA82
First of all yes you are correct the spfi pistons will bump up your compression.Secondly there is really no need to mess with the cylinders on a suby of that mileage. Many engines torn down at around that amount of miles have cylinders that are still within the original specs of when it was new. Also I have heard horror stories of people that sleeve their blocks and end up having it turn in the cylinder and thusly messing up the whole engine.I wouldn't recomend it as I am sure others will agree.Good luck.

Meet Bluey
I agree.That is a really pretty car!

motors
Any of those engines you mentioned will fit.The frame rails will just take a little persuading.(Need to cut the frame rails)Definately can be done.
