May 30, 200421 yr It's a FT4WD with a build date of 8/86, which *should* make it an 86 model... but the FT4WD wasn't out in 86 was it? GD
May 30, 200421 yr Author I was so excited when I spotted the wing on the back from several cars away (looking at another soob at the time) and I saw the rear decal and the side decals, but couldn't initially get the hood open.... there was no boost guage, and it has the part time 4wd in it too, not FT4WD. it had been repainted a long time ago, and it seems someone went to great lengths to "fake it"
May 30, 200421 yr Sure would like to have the ground effects But your right, thats alot of work to make it "look" like an RX. Even the seats are from a RX.
May 30, 200421 yr It looks cosmetically like an 87 to me... has XT seats, and ya looks like someone really tried to make it something it wasnt. At first glance I thought it was a blue "rx"
May 31, 200421 yr Author the seats were pretty dirty, and the drivers side one was ripped. 215k or so on the odometer. the wing is off, and in the backof the car now, but the bolts snapped off, from the rust....
May 31, 200421 yr RX body kit. Still looks like an 86. Badged as an RX. Carbed engine. Part time 4WD. XT seats. Rear Drums. Its all wrong! I want the grille. Please. edit: its got the 87 bumper.
June 1, 200421 yr '8/86 build date makes it an '87 model year so the grill is correct. The decals came from an RX all right. Carbed motor which is slightly unusual as the SPFI was supposed to replace the carb in '87. Drum brakes and incorrect interior. No diff-lock either. OBTW, it's a DL model.
June 1, 200421 yr Must not have a tach in the dash. Ive seen an 86 GL coupe with SPFI. It was auto, rear drums, 2wd. Had that same style grille....BUT had the same bumper as my wagon.
June 1, 200421 yr It also looks like it has the checker board seatbelts that match the seats but I cannot tell. What a weird car:-\

My 87 is carbed... but my RA in college had an 87 with SPFI... I think in 87 it was something along the lines of A: CA models were EFI and 49 state were carbed or B: Carbed first half of the year, then the 87.5 was SPFI... My guess is A though.
June 1, 200421 yr I wouldn't say that MAKES it a DL thou, now if it had no tach, and four sealed beam head lights then I would call it a DL
June 3, 200421 yr thats funny as hell, especially since the only peepl it would impress would be subaru dorks like us! ooh an rx! what the hells an rx? you mean wrx?
June 3, 200421 yr Negatory Ken ol buddy, she's a GL, the 7th digit in the vin is a 3, if it was a 2 it would be a DL, but it ain't. JF2- FHI MPV A - Loyale/XT G - 3-door coupe 5 - 1.8L 4WD W/o AIR Sus 3 - GL B - 3001-4000 GVWR w/passive restraint 3 - random (couldn't really tell in the pic, just threw this one in) H - 1987 E - 5spd 2x4/4WD (not FT4WD that would be a G) Last six are the production number. So if'n ya look at the dash, she's prolly got a tach.
June 3, 200421 yr Thanks Adam for that info. That was going to be my response. The only way you'd see those tires on a GL is if it was a 2wd model. So, they put a load of work into that one.
June 3, 200421 yr Author I thought that on the seats took, but do the back seats of the 3 door and a XT Turbo interchange? cause the back seats have the same pattern?????
