February 10, 201115 yr just got a knock at the door.....package from http://www.rockauto.com!! -cap -rotor -plugs -filter now I gotta drive 30 minutes, 1 way,to use my buddy's garage because I live in apartments that have a strict "no working on car" policy.....but it should be fun... -Nomad
February 10, 201115 yr Today I am continuing my, one wheel at a time project... Just mounted the wheel back on Ned, I didnt think the difference was soo..... hmm intense.. lol. Itll be even more intense when I get access to a wire wheel and can grind down the lugs and paint them Im thinking white (to stand out on the black) or possibly red (again, to stand out on the black)Before/After: Ned with wheel mounted: Word those are pretty sick! what kinda clear coat did you use? -Nomad Edited February 10, 201115 yr by Nomad_Brad forgot to sign my name.
February 10, 201115 yr Just the Krylon spray can stuff. Turned out pretty good, I was a little nervous. I missed a few spots in the typical areas, but you cant see that unless youre down next to them, critiquing them like I do all the time
February 10, 201115 yr Got my ej22 swap running and driving. It was missing the gauge temp sender, so as I was filling up with coolant it started pissing all over the place. That really pissed me off until I found out what it was...
February 10, 201115 yr Im not laughing at you, I promise that, I just think its funny that coolant is kinda a yellowish green color and you referred to the car as "pissing" all over the place. Glad its up and running though, definitely wont be as fast as the 2.5 is, but hey, its more reliable congrats!

February 10, 201115 yr Well... That be the case... I had fun the other day, my insider at Carr Subaru (brother) got a 2004 Forester XT with the STI package, and brought it back to the house to show me... Ugh, that beast is... wow.

Bratman on here has an 04 FXT. Tons of mods, puts down well over 300hp. FAST!
February 10, 201115 yr Next time you're at the gas station, look at the price of expensive gas... Take 10mpg off your gas mileage... Do the math.... And you won't want a turbo anymore
February 10, 201115 yr Author wanting one and affording one are two different things. I do want a turbo foz though. I like the 2.5 in the wife's. I love stomping on ricers in it,
February 10, 201115 yr Next time you're at the gas station, look at the price of expensive gas... Take 10mpg off your gas mileage... Do the math.... And you won't want a turbo anymore I respectfully disagree, Turbo's are surprisingly efficient in stock form, I have gotten up to 29mpg with my (stock) WRX which is far better then the other cars that I have owned, the only downfall is that you have to buy higher octane fuel. Anyway, 92_rugby_subie those wheels look sick! Keep up the good work!
February 10, 201115 yr Thank you Well, I wouldnt use it as a daily driver... I cant afford that gas. I can stomp ricers in my 1.8L carbed EA82. Its got a weber, but its taken Eclipses and ALMOST a lancer. It beats my friends EA82T... But thats cuz hes got monster tires on it.

February 10, 201115 yr Doubt it. I drove Ricks LGT swapped with a 2.2... That thing gets up and goes. His is an Auto though.

Anyway, 92_rugby_subie those wheels look sick! Keep up the good work! I've seen many of older people 50+ putting in 87 in the turbo subies (not that I would do that....) I know a friend who is a subaru tech says they have seen a lot with valve issues I think he said melting or something like that.
February 10, 201115 yr Doubt it. I drove Ricks LGT swapped with a 2.2... That thing gets up and goes. His is an Auto though. Mine is an auto too. I have the 97 2.2 though, and that's rated for more HP (by like 3hp...) than the older ones.
February 10, 201115 yr His is a 1997 too Wait, so putting 87 octane (regular) in a Turbo Subaru is bad? Cuz thats what my friend runs in his EA82T and I run it in Ned but hes just a regular EA82
February 11, 201115 yr it can be with high combustion pressures(fault of the turbo). Pressure equals heat and heat equals ur fuel ingniting before your spark plug gets the chance. which i might add is veryyyy bad. Google pstion detonation. pretty gnarly stuff. Correct me if im wrong on anything plz
February 11, 201115 yr A stock turbo setup not being beat on would probably be alright on normal gas. The computer takes care of preventing knock. But what's the fun/point of a turbo car if you aren't going to beat on it?!
February 11, 201115 yr I squeezed... 5 sets of skis and poles, and 3 snowboards onto the GL this evening.... Let the party begin! 4 couples, a rented condo, huge jacuzzi and pool, plenty of booze and a weekend of skiing/snowboarding. Should be fun!
