You can use JB weld to repair the clips if you still have them.

Also go to the pick a part in boise ASAP and find some bigger wheels and tires.Pronto.

FINALLY got my exhaust to seal all the way today... fixed a couple leaks on the coolant hoses (replaced those crappy original clamps with hose clamps), and drove her around for an hour or so :) still not insured, but i just drove around in an empty subdivision near mine (dont have to even get on public roads to get there) :) didnt stay out too long because i have no idea how much gas is in the tank, gauge is totally unreliable. sorry for the bad quality videos, it takes too long to upload in HD

So... some of you will be excited to hear... tomorrow im going to go and get a set of wheels! :D  and a buddy of mine is donating some (mostly dead) 235 75 15s for me to run until i can afford better ones! im going to redrill the wheels instead of the hubs. i just PRAY that these rims have enough offset to clear the rear suspension arm. if not... gotta find some 6" aluminum stock and turn some 2" spacers.

check it out guys! drilled the rims and mounted them, used an old brake drum as a guide :) had to mount the ones on the rear inside out to clear everything, so i turned the front ones inside out too just so it doesn't look retarded. gotta build some spacers next! didn't lose as much power as i expected it to, i can still break traction on pavement and idle along in first or second without giving it any gas. had to bash in the inner fenders a bit to clear the tires, and im gonna have to do more bashing but i need a bigger sledge hammer first. lots of wander and torque steer, so ball joints and tie rod ends are next on the list. oh and shocks for the rear, im thinking adjustable air shocks so i can haul something without rubbing too bad on the tires. btw got the wagon running, had to wire up the coil like a lawn tractor but it runs. and i have a buyer, heres hoping they dont back out at the last second!

OH! and cant forget the good old POR 15 to put in the bed!

A Little off topic, but how did you black out your front running lights and tail light?

You'll have to file / cut a slot big enough for a flat blade screw driver to be able turn them ... :)

P.S. - You might need one of these too !

Cheers, Bantum ...

A lot easier to drill them out (after removing the steering column) and buy new shear bolts!

Yep there's always another way ( drilling is usually a last resort effort ) ... :P

The advantage with my method is that you can reuse them if done carefully ...
( It helps also if you give them a good soaking in some lubricant like penitrol, CRC, WD40, etc.) ... :)

Be sure to take some pictures of you efforts Rusty ... ;)

Cheers, Bantum ...

got it all wired up :) master power, starter button, fuel pump to the first switch, coil to the second, and radio to the last. the rest will be used for lights and whatnot, one for accessory power. put down one layer of POR15 in the bed, that stuff is GREAT! expensive, but worth it in the end. dries oh so slowly though, so i have to wait till tomorrow to put the second coat down, sorry no pics yet of the POR15.

*drumroll* the final results of the POR15! this stuff is fantastic! only minor complaint i have, is each coat takes 24 hours to dry. but it sure looks nice when its done!

little birthday present to myself, new shocks! new ball joints and tie rod ends are next, waiting for my aluminum to ship so i can build wheel spacers! shocks were the absolute perfect length at full down travel on the suspension they are at full extension. managed to use the stock mounting locations, just barely touches the bump-stop at full extension. such a better ride all around, less rubbing, less torque-steer, less wander. once i get the ball joints and tie rod ends on, it should be solid and ready to go.

Come on RustyBrat, re-read through this thread and it is clear plenty of people have enjoyed what you have done to your Brat.

No need to stop because of one person's opinion (I'm just assuming here). I for one, have certainly enjoyed your Brat resurrection!

Meh. Some people... Shawn will take care of it. I'm pretty sure he's seen the posts. The other guy will get a talking to.

thats very true! good advice :) its partly my fault, i will admit, i just cant seem to let it go... which is weird, because in real life im extremely easygoing. online though... idk its just different! but anyway, FULL STEAM AHEAD ON THE BRAT! started on the spacers today, cut the aluminum with an electric hack saw, took FOREVER and couldn't quite get it to cut perfectly straight, but there is less than 1/16th of a difference, so no big deal, just throw them on the lathe and surface them so they are perfect :) now just to find someone with a big enough lathe...
