  1. Bingo. My Felpro valve cover gaskets on my wagon said "made in Japan" on them.
  2. Sounds like you may also need a clutch cable. Make sure and get one from the dealer as the parts store ones are garbage.
  3. Good to hear you changed it back to atf. You're not the first one to make that mistake so don't feel bad.
  4. I can't imagine replacing that cable to be fun. Be glad, my 05 STi doesn't even get a remote trunk release.
  5. 100% agree. They are also especially obnoxious. You have bigger fish to worry about on that motor than making duck noises.
  6. Remember the valve cover gaskets are cork and do not require a ton of torque. Just snug them up or you will be in a world of hurt. Fel-Pro is the best bet.
  7. Just for curiosity, what's the called for torque on the lug nuts?
  8. Correct. I had to retrofit the buckle from the Outback seat onto the wrx one. I expected it since I had the same seats in my old 2.5RS.
  9. I lost interest in this car years ago. It has been a load of media wishy washy hype for the last 6 years. I too, have no need in a coupe, even less need in a RWD.
  10. Jack up the side you want to check. Grab the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock. Check for in and out movement.
  11. I have an 03 WRX seat in my 95 Outback. It does raise you up a good inch or two and have to raise the steering wheel. It was a great price to pay to get rid of that busted rump roast cloth seat that I did have.
  12. The recall was actually just for the 02-03 WRX, not sure if the OBS/RS got the recall or not. A lot of 04 STi owners complained of the problem but the recall did not apply to them. The recalls calls for the removal of the intake manifold and replace the fuel lines.

  14. Quoted for 100% truth. Those first gen Legacies are amazing. If it wasn't for a worn out 250k 4EAT, I would still have my 91.
  15. Knock sensor would be a good place to start. Make sure when putting the new one on, don't overtorque the dickens out of it and clean the mating surface.
  16. Didn't do it pulling out of the parking lot, let's hope it doesn't do it again. Thanks for the belt advice guys.
  17. I wouldn't really call it a belt "squeal" but more along the lines of a chirp. I definitely did not hear it this morning when I started the car. Didn't feel any resistance either. True test will be this evening when I get off work where I park on a slight incline with the motor higher than the rest of the car.
  18. I had my father in law turn the wheel before replacing the belt and I looked inside the reservoir for bubbles. All was well there. Replaced the belt this evening. I noticed that on the old belt, the tensioning bolt that runs through the one that allows the 12mm to bolt to the alternator was fully threaded. With the new one, it is now 1 1/4 inches lower from the top. I used a turkey baster to inspect the ATF fluid, besides being a tad dark, it was fine. I didn't hear the squeak from the power steering pump but I will double check in the morning when I warm it up for the drive in.
