  1. There also has since been a suspension change. I took the Tanabe GF210 springs off last August and put the stock springs back on. The ride improved greatly with the stock springs and a set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS.
  2. Had a wing stud that had snapped off from when I had gotten the trunk and finally got around to replacing it. Pictures from my dirty car, half-assed, nasty day, photoshoot. Pictures taken with my Galaxy Nexus. http://www.mysubie.com/gallery?id=2653 The problem that I ran into with my stud repair was the STi trunk has two different studs. One is longer than the other. I ordered the wrong one by accident, my fault. Luckily I ordered two of them because they are notorious for snapping off, a second one snapped off in removal. Got the wing off and tried to fit the shorter stud into the grooves on the wing, wasn't happening. So, I sat there for about ten minutes and then I compared the slide bases and found the one was only slightly narrower and thinner than the other. So, off to the shed I went to get my file that I had not used in about 2.5 years from when I installed rear WRX seats in my RS. 2 minutes of filing each and they were both able to slide into place and click. I went to get back into the trunk with the wing off and forgot about how much tension the STI torsion bars have. That thing flung up and about hit me in the face.
  3. If you are hell bent on running HIDs you really need to retrofit HID projectors over to your stock headlights. Most projector assemblies on the market are going to be designed for halogen bulbs and not for the HIDs. There is also the option of finding JDM Legacy B4 headlights that used a factory HID system. The issue with those is the headlights will be aimed at oncoming traffic due to them being designed for a right hand drive car. These are sold but you can get the idea: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/jdm-legacy-b4-factory-hid-headlights-complete-177375.html?p=3702450
  4. I have a set that I got from Advance under the Powerbuilt name. Bought them last year and apparently they don't carry them anymore. They are identical to these in design: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Macpher-Strut-Spring-Compressor-OTC_17632222-P_N4420D_T|GRP2107_____
  5. I would start by buying a new SUBARU thermostat and putting that in. Also, get a new radiator cap if you haven't done so. Those things can cause some weird problems. There is info at the top of the New Gen section about the stant ones that are a direct OEM part. Part numbers are there too.
  6. Yeah, it's just a gist of things but it helped me split a ej251 case when it developed a rod knock, friend threw it my way. Took the piston out, that is very seized at the wrist pin, and made a great office candy dish on my desk at work.
  7. If you stated so, I missed it. Which brand thermostat did you use? Also, the cooling fans should not be running on the highway anyway as you are getting more than enough air flow through the radiator cooling fins.
  8. Not an STi in the picture but that doesn't matter. A person could probably watch the local nasioc chapter and Craigslist and these might turn back up. Didn't know those 2011 wrx wheels were in that high of a demand.
  9. Who likes pictures? Ask and ye shall receive http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t74366-tearing-down-ejxx-block-pictures-head-removal-splitting-block.html
  10. Myself and several friends have been using Jackie @ Annapolis Subaru. Tell her you saw them on nasioc gets the wholesale pricing bracket. The nearest dealer is 45 minutes from me and it is cheapest for me to order and pay the ~$8.00 shipping fee. I love my local dealer but money talks.
  11. I have the Continental Extreme Contact DWS's on my STi and they are fantastic.
  12. Yup. Put you a set of hawk HPS pads on there while you're at it. Do some research before buying tires so they fit your environment and needs.
  13. That thing should be easy to spot. That thing looks good with the 05 goldies on there.

  15. Most people do when they blow the piston rings. Usually the ones blowing piston rings are not the daily drivers but the ones using launch control and flat-foot shifting on an AutoX track.
  16. I know you want an 08 for whatever reason but it is by far the worst year for a WRX. Heck, I bought an 05 STi with 68k for what that car is going for.
  17. You could but you are better off just buying a WRX engine and saving yourself some fab work.
  18. The twin turbo motor WILL NOT clear the LHD steering column.
  19. My lord that is hot. Having owned a couple brats and an EA81 Hatch, I would go to a hatch everytime. Those things are so practical. Nice mason badge. Got any engine bay shots?
  20. I would find another reputable shop to install the thing but make sure and get the blue coolant.
  21. Those are some dead sexy shots of that hatchback. Lord how I miss my old 84.
  22. 09 Impreza gets a SOHC engine. If the warranty is valid, have it towed to a dealership. A tow bill is cheaper than doing head gaskets. Doesn't the 2009 take the blue coolant as well? I agree with Dave, physically check the radiator after a cool down. Found this article in a google search, it states it covers Forester but I would bet the same principle applies. http://www.subarumanuals.org/subaru-2020.html
  23. I would prop the hood up fully and park her in the sun. Also wouldn't hurt to take a leaf blower and dry her out with it.
