  1. You could but you are better off just buying a WRX engine and saving yourself some fab work.
  2. The twin turbo motor WILL NOT clear the LHD steering column.
  3. My lord that is hot. Having owned a couple brats and an EA81 Hatch, I would go to a hatch everytime. Those things are so practical. Nice mason badge. Got any engine bay shots?
  4. I would find another reputable shop to install the thing but make sure and get the blue coolant.
  5. Those are some dead sexy shots of that hatchback. Lord how I miss my old 84.
  6. 09 Impreza gets a SOHC engine. If the warranty is valid, have it towed to a dealership. A tow bill is cheaper than doing head gaskets. Doesn't the 2009 take the blue coolant as well? I agree with Dave, physically check the radiator after a cool down. Found this article in a google search, it states it covers Forester but I would bet the same principle applies. http://www.subarumanuals.org/subaru-2020.html
  7. I would prop the hood up fully and park her in the sun. Also wouldn't hurt to take a leaf blower and dry her out with it.
  8. A lot of good points from some really smart guys. He looks to have done some kind of custom rigging with the PCV lines. Unsure if it's a custom catch-can or what. Also looks to have some kind of crap tapped into the boost control items on the passenger side strut tower. A strut tower brace was present but is now disconnected, as you noticed. A bolt is missing from the left side of the TMIC. The battery does not look to be secured. That's a big junk of weight to have bouncing around your engine bay. It is an early 02 model due to the coolant filling port being painted black. The later 02 models was unpainted. The intake setup just makes me cringe. He overcomplicated the process. My bottom line: PASS You do not want this thing. There are a ton of bugeye wrx's in the market right now.
  9. Regarding coolant, easiet method is to crawl under it and see where it's coming from. My first guess is your head gaskets are leaking.
  10. You're really doing some work on that thing Tom. Looking good.
  11. H4 = horizontal 4 cylinder H6 = Horizontal 6 cylinder 256k is pretty damn good and I would be grateful to get that mileage out of a car.
  12. Well, I learned something.... the hard way. I am going to clean the MAF when I get home tonight and see what it does and start trying to get this thing running better. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1282520&highlight=clean+spt+intake http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1373545
  13. As have I, that's what's got me baffling and I find it hard to believe I got 4 plugs bad out of the box. Planning to clean the maf this evening when I get home.
  14. Doing some work on this 02 WRX that was brought to me last week. They stated that the plugs had not been changed since 55k and the odometer has 166k on it so I told them they needed to be changed. I look up the OEM NGK plug and get 4 of them from advance auto. Firday evening, I change the plugs on cylinders. Started it up and it sat and idled just fine in the driveway for 15 minutes while I put my tools up and went in for the night. Today, I changed the plugs on 2 & 4 and re-oiled the filter element on the SPT intake it has. Buttoned everything back up, battery, washer tank, etc. Now, the thing does not want to idle and is missing under normal load. It did throw a CEL for a misfire on all 4 cylinders. Out of ideas, I put the original plugs for cylinders 2 & 4 back in and that had no effect. I am baffled. I know that the filter oil can accumulate on the MAF sensor and cause a running issue. Could that be causing this misfiring issue?
  15. Yep. You will have to swap your seat buckle receiver to the new seat. Be prepared that they may sit differently in your car. My 03 WRX seat sits quite a bit higher in my 95 Outback but that was expected.
  16. It is settled then. A USMB member must buy this.
  17. Wow. I knew the other markets got them, not the US. That thing was loaded back in the day.
  18. When did you get that thing?
  19. Dear lord, that thing is awesome.
  20. There is something epically badass about a dual ranged Forester.
  21. I washed the pollen off the STi this morning, does that count?
  22. Running AC more than normal. If Georgia has been like here, it's been a hot one already.
