  1. Plow Midget R & D So,the key here is that I'll be using a hatchback for a plow vehicle. The thought it that it could use some counterweight in the rear with that plow rig up front and Subarus being not exactly balanced machines.(front end already more heavy than the rear by a few hundred pounds. Thought for the rear bumper is to make it like a long(wide)metal basket bumper that can hold a container with sand and some shovels.I could mount trailer lights on the rear for more visiblity if needed.Basic frame would be based on the 2x4 iron box stock with steel mesh as the basket bottom and sides.Kind of like a longmetal flowerbox. I figure it's stick out about 18" from the rear body panel.Hang down about 4-6 inches below where the normal bumper would hang to.It's replace the existing bumper and mount up with the same method, maybe some bracing from underside too through the trunk. Thoughts? Open to criticism if it helps in the end. Naturally, this means it'll stop snowing for the year.....you know that, right?
  2. I have yet to see a rotor/drum combo..... I thought these DRUMS had a self adjuster like late 80's Subarus.I'm familiar with the star from other cars.Didn't know Subaru changed design. I'll get a good eye in there and 2 thin blade screwdrivers and I'm sure I'll get through it clean. Thanks for the help.
  3. Pine Barrens in NJ soon I hope.Good warm up for Carlisle. And there'll be a "End of the World" blow out party at my workshop sometime too. That'll be in Milford CT
  4. Guessing it was Tom McG. Should be yellow if that was him.
  5. Old school guy here.Just getting to know these Legacy's. So the e-brake is on the rear now.And all this time I could have been abusing my wife's car.Is that mechanical(cable) or hydraulic? The real question is what do I need to do to get the drum off.I tried knocking the adjuster out through the elongated hole in the back plate,no luck. But,I was in a hurry and gave up quick. I had to go so I packed it up.Just looking for an answer before I go back at it.I've done plenty of brakes, just doing my first Legacy. Do all Legacy's have a brake rotor that is only fastened when the tire/wheel is on?I do like the way the caliper piston pushed right in.Not like the 80's.
  6. Currently having the exact same problem on my '87 Turbo wagon.I will be changing every hose I can this spring. Being that when it's warmed up and restarted it acts fine sets a path of thought.Gotta Z right now.Somebody think while I go dream.

  9. Sorry guys, nothing new to report that makes your whistle blow. I could not get up there this week.My pile sits on a table waiting to be taken out of inventory and for me to pay for it all. Tune in later this week. Parts manuals will be returned immediately afterwards.
  10. Whoever finds them please consider having Corky get more made.If you come across several of them I want one too.
  11. Gabe,I'm pretty well versed in old Subarus and the ones I see are rusting at the slug end and you can tell they won't last too long.If you have one for me I'll be happy to send money ahead of time.
  12. EA82 wagon-1987 Anyone ever solder or clamp on a new slug at the hood latch end? I am not currently concerned with the interior handle end,but we all know they bite the dust too. Anyone score one from the dealer?Cost??

  17. "WagonsOnly" has a '62 here in CT.THere's also a few more in CT but I'm pretty sure they're '68 and '69s.
  18. Brian,I think these are all for the Stage I cars.THey're all marked 1975.Could work but won't be correct,if that matters.Send some pics of this Safari Package please.I just got an old gas can that looks very "safari".Should look cool mounted on the rear. wagonpowaa-thanks,looks just like the one in your avitar.
  19. Went up there today.I have a huge pile of stuff to "check out" next week. The day flew by.I sat down with the owner to start pricing stuff and he decided to just have one of his guys do it next week. It'll be later in the week. Thanks again to Shawn and Skip for loaning the parts manuals.I've barely touched them, most not even opened once. It's just alot of stuff to gather. There'll be some misc. boxes that I'll need all the help I can get from the manuals. Some notes: THere's a set of hood decals in his pen, locked up.He said they were for all older Subarus but mostly Brat owners used them to compliment the other stripes from the factory.I did not see any "BRAT" decals or targa stripes, etc. The stripe kits seem to be all 1975.THere's one "5speed" and a few "4 wheel drive" ones in black, gold, and maybe one white. A roll bar sits in the corner. He knows I can get a buyer for it so it'll go to one of us here.Still not sure if its Gen I or II.It's a 3 piece with the rearward legs mounting to the wheel well(curved mounting foot)....is that Gen I? Lots of trailing arms for EA82 cars and a few others too. Some brake drums, rear plates with brakes complete.some calipers.... Racks for a 3door,Justy,and others.A couple EA82 racks. Some rear deflectors for EA81 wagons complete with feet,etc.... Look back next week.
  20. OOOPS! Sorry about that 'duster...hope you guys work it out. So,what's the actual dimensions of the parts that are different?Just so we all know.
  21. you....are....beautiful!!!!!!!! OK that answers that. Now who's down for the road trip and how soon are we talking? I could be just as happy letting you guys go nuts and would be fine with waiting a little to get my heap.If it's an easy go I'm there. But if I'm just having a hard time I suppose I will have to hold back the tears. :-p 15 boxes isn't so bad to go through.Sounding like we'll be done by Saturday night and tossing back some beers.Oy!! OK start kicking around a date and I'll do my best.Could maybe even get some discount flight(ahem!)and rent a oneway ride back too. That'd save the redeye mega coffee haul.
  22. Plow I have is a "SnoWay" blade.Hyd. unit has "John Barnes Corp." from Rockford Ill. I'm going back to the guy I got it from tomorrow and hopefully he'll help me out a little more. But he's almost 80 years old so.... General questions I have are about controls, seems I don't have any right now.The plow is an hour away at another borad member's place.I barely looked it over before dropping it off.We were both in a rush to get going. Where do they mount(controls)?Any help from experience is greatly appreciated.Hopefully I'm wrong and the control is a little shifter that I just didn't see. Higher lights?Add wiring or cut and paste some factory connectors so I can plug my headlight harness into the high mounts when needed? I'm going to be using a Hatchback for this knuckleheaded project.Just have to try it.The plow rig is made to fit EA82 cars also.So says the dealer I got it from.He says he had it on a sedan,Loyale style up to a few years ago.I also have a beater 3door that I could make useable for this if it's better suited. Anything else to consider?
  23. Guys,I woke up a little sick today and had my daughter to watch.Just couldn't swing the trip today.I plan on going tomorrow. I should have most of the items I said I'd get for the people who posted on my original thread. Then I'm going to attempt a bulk buy for the remainders. Please don't reply here.I'll bump up the original post as I can.Might take untill Sunday night.I should be going to PA to get Dennis' dad's hatch on Saturday in the afternoon. I'll kill this thread when I bump up the other one.Cheers
