  1. Yes, have some. And yes, we (do we include sMax?) can... but take heart, big guy. The "wagon war cry" will always be close to my heart.
  2. Last night after work, my wife and I were driving home. My cell phone rings and wife answers; it is Shawn. He talks to my wife for a few minutes and she is rolling her eyes and sort of giggling under her breath. Driving along I wonder what sort of car-fix drug he will be trying to peddle on me this time. The light at the intersection turns red. I stop and wife hands me the phone. Shawnzie has a bead on an old hatch. "It's that dark blue color" he tells me. I try to explain that I just aquired a Brat and probably shouldn't push my luck with wife. He insists that we go and "at least take a look". Ok. I discuss with wife. She says, it will be up to me... Ruh roh! I meet up with Shawn. I explain that this thing will need to be immaculate if I am to buy it. My couch is crammed in my parent's garage until closing later this week, and a floor just isn't that comfortable. We get to the house and I see the hatch. As we get closer, I sense a Pavlonian response. I keep a sleeve handy for fear of causing the first signs of rust! Yes, there is NO rust on this thing! I even checked the "water retainers" inside the fenders. No luck. I am forced to keep looking! I look inside and there isn't a single crack in the seats or the console or the back or the headliner or the... you get the idea. The ticker is ribbing me: "hey look at me! Only 88k, suckerfish!" I ask for the keys, "praying" I will be able to find some excuse to.... uhm, not buy it at this point. I failed... I offered $1000. The owner said "sure"! I drove home and showed the wife. Her initial response was, "it better be something special since we are closing on OUR new house Wednesday!" I didn't sleep on the floor or a couch last night. Just had to share.
  3. Then you could drive around and everyone would say, "Hey, nice wood 'n rack ya got there!"
  4. I would suggest Axxis or Hawk for everyday / spirted drives as they don't coat the wheel with dust in one day. Cobb makes a wonderful set of pads, but they are pretty dusty critters All of the above can be had for a few bucks above Subaru OEM pads.
  5. Yeah, it's up to you n00berts to plan it up now Buying a house is scary!
  6. Jeff, you should really paint your car a brighter red. You know, to match your uhm... socks! Yeah, that's it!
  7. Correct. The only thing different is the seat belt mount and notch thingys.
  8. Yeah, it is official for the wife and me now; moving on Dec 1st and 2nd. That is what I get for trying to "plan" something
  9. Exedy organics are really nice... but they cost a bit more than the ebay items you are looking at.
  10. I would check the radiator since you mentioned the water pump already. I think I paid about 160 or so for my 97 at an Auto Zone.
  11. "Neener neener?" So my wife and I have been shopping for a new cave. We found one and... may be moving in during the 1st and 2nd.
  12. You crazy kids.... Looks beautiful!
  13. Who is interested? The area I am thinking is Chief Hosa since it isn't that far away. Clicky for permit info... Plan for the weee morning hours. I think this would be a good time for everyone that loves the smell of a fresh pine tree in the home for the holiday. Post up, peeps! j.
  14. So remember that thing about "it's probably something stupid"? Remember your mom always telling you to give everything you do a "KISS" (keep it simple stupid)? It turns out that if you hook plug wire one into number three, and the three wire into one, the engine only runs on two cylinders. Who knew... Yeah, I'm the dum-dumb, and I thank everyone for the great advice in tracking this issue down!
  15. This sounds like a good idea, along with changing both fuel filters. We did manage to find some water in the tank when we flushed it, but it didn't solve the problem. Theory being there is still water in the filters...
  16. "Stupidly simple" is exactly what we need to hear. I suspect that is what is the cause of all this. You are correct in that the problem exists only when the motor is in the 84 wagon (aka. "The Colonel"). The problem did NOT exist with the swapped in motor when it was in the parts car. It ran like a champ...
  17. Some of you are familiar with my Weber dilemma and the associated problem with backfiring through the carb when under load and sluggish acceleration, etc... on the '84 wagon. The wagon had a heart transplant. Shawn, Jerry and I installed a perfectly strong running, Weberized, motor and exhaust system from another wagon this past week. Again, I want to stress that the motor we installed ran flawlessly (had a blast driving the rust bucket it came from)... The wagon starts and idles w/o issue (Just like the original motor with the NEW Weber we installed) but we are experiencing nearly the same problems of backfiring, rough and sluggish acceleration, etc... I am honestly at my last nerve and don't know what to do. -timing is spot on -there are no vac leaks -master has been replaced -hoses are fine -coil, plugs, disty are good We swapped the fuel pump last night and that did nothing to change the problem. The only thing left would be the fuel tank itself. Thought being that if there is water in it (since the wagon has been sitting at CCR forever) it would be getting sucked from the tank when we put the car under load and cause the sluggishness and a lean condition? Would it be worth it to try swapping out the tank or is it something else we are overlooking?
  18. You might want to inquire about this one: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/458553031.html It's been up there for a while.
  19. It is too bad you had to leave early Monday, Jerry. You missed out on the crash-up derby at the end of the night.
