  1. you would have to find away around the front axles. the brat has 23 splines and the rx is 25 spline, you will have to have custom axles made, or do the ea82 suspension conversion and use 5mt turbo axles for ea82.
  2. i like the napa/wix filters. 1361GOLD 21361SILVER 51361WIX. i get gold or silver depending on how broke i am, either or, but i will get the gold if i have enough$
  3. yep, mm hmm. ea82 all the way!
  4. hey if i found a guy in the back of my car i would have taken him where he wanted to go. or at least gave him a head start. i would want someone to do for me the same! but thats me.
  5. for 85 the non turbo fi were mpfi till the spfi came out midway thru 86
  6. you are probobly 180 off. remember, there are 2 crank rotations for every one cam rotation. to double check the passenger side cam dot will be pointing around 10 o clock position at odeg tdc
  7. although that dual exhaust is off an ea82, it came out oif an ea81 BRAT. so it will fit compared to the body the same the only real difference is how low the pipe comes to clear the crossmember. example is that if you use an ea81 pipe on an ea82 car it wont clear the front crossmember. this is because of the cast iron egr ports on the ea81. you can take these off the ea81 and an ea82 pipe will be required to fit around the crossmember now with the egr ports there your exhaust may hang a little low? the egr ports have recessed bolts that hold it to the head, opposite holes. but if you take it off the other holes are there to use.
  8. i know the front half that bolts to the brake booster is the same pattern. but the top on an ea82 is longer. so it may need modded or the holes slotted on top, or some cutting. but an ea82 pedal box is better than no pedal box:)
  9. it will work. the plugs should be the same but if not you can splice them. depends on your driving, it will work but may suffer high rpm/turbo demand. trashwagon 6 does good with one, 87gl10 turbo
  10. i dont have a picture of the back, but you can mount them bowlegged. just dont hit any curbs:) NOT RECOMMENDED
  11. try checking the EGR. there is a solenoid that looks like this; make sure its working, hoses look good, or egr valve isnt bad. http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/parts/100dollarpart.jpg read this too http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28912&highlight=solenoid my 86 sedan does it, but if i turn the car off then back on it goes away. when it comes on by itself it goes away off and on
  12. if you can find a subaru alternator with an orange band that will be a a 60 amp, the green ones are 30. sometimes you will find non-xt6 black ones, but some remans are painted black
  13. yo i wouldn chance it if i were you, it takes only one time to get caught, take it from me. my luck hasnt been so good with driving, so i stay off the road till im legal. look up the law and maybe something like a receipt will get you by. tell your insurance the vin so you can cover yourself in the car. insurance will be more important than 'pending registration' in the long run. as far as the police stopping you they need a probable cause. but if they read a plate and the name comes back suspened, warrant, or the description does not match the description then there is your probable cause. so make sure you have all the right papers so the cop can see that you are really doing what you say you are doing
  14. in indiana you can drive for 30 days on your old plate, as long as you "got rid" of the old car, and you have a bill of sale or a receipt with a signature, and a date within 30 days
  15. also be careful to not tighten the bolts so much thatit splits the gasket along the oil pan sealing ridge
  16. does the car run ok once it has warmed up? try checking the coolant temp sensor for the ecu, its on the thermostat housing, it has 2 wires and a green plug. sometimes corroded terminals will make it act up, so clean them up good and see if that helps. also try checking the engine codes following the procedure described in USRM http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?c=1 in the miscellaneous section
  17. try groundint the fuel pump to the body itself, its on a trainagle shape mount in front of the passenger tire, it looks like an aquarium pump
  18. maybe youre just trippen, that is what LSD will do to ya:grin: anyway if the steering wheel is off center, matbe check to see if a trailing arm is bent
  19. maybe the cam seals? they could be leaking behind the timing belt covers, and drip elsewhere
  20. check the disty to see if the rotor turns when u crank. it may have broken a timing belt if it has sat for a long time. start with that first. if the rotor turns youre good ther. if not you need timing belts the distributor turning sends a signal to the eci to engage the fuel pump(spfi)
  21. there is a lot of guys in the north west. but more and more are apperaing in the NE and midwest, i do know there are some texas people, certainly more than indiana!!! theyll post when they see this
  22. under the hood there are a pair of connectors along the driver side firewall, one green and one white or black. connect the green connectors and turn the key on. this will cycle the fuel pump on and off. you can listen for the pump to come on, and listen for the relay to click. the relay is on the steering column bracket above the ecu. if you are going that far, you may as well pull the ecu codes, the procedure is described in http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?c=1 in the miscellaneous section
  23. the "complete" 5spd i was talking about, i actually mean a whole car that runs and drives, missing the throttle cable. i plan to keep the motor and part the rest, doors, fenders, its an ea82 body. all the ea82 stuff i have is at the carbola. the carbola is the quanset hut on depot street in BUTLER, maintenance on wheels cleaning company is in the building, its by the recycle dumpsters in butler. as far as the 86 sedan i have for parts, will include the flywheel/clutch assembly, but it will need a newer clutch disc. also you will have to get bolts for the flywheel to fit the ea81 thread, you can find them at a hardware store something like m10x1.00 threads i do believe. the holes on the flywheel will be bigger than the bolts for the ea81 motor, but the flywheel wil still center on the crank snout, and the torque will hold. the timing marks will be of different alignment, so you will want to scribe your own TDC mark. the parts ar has a complete carb ea82 motor as well, and an ea82 will fit under the hood the same. my parts car has indiana title. hell the whole car is good except for the windshield being cracked. i dont have room for the car otherwise i would fix it, maybe make it 4wd 5spd, i have all the parts minus a rear diff. as far as the indy parts car, or if you maybe were interested in mine, i have a TOWBAR that has been modified to fit on the EA82 body tow hooks, if you have a vehicle with a trailer you are welcome to use my subar specific tow bar. i also have 4wd sedan converted from 2wd AT in coldwater michigan. i would offer my parts car for the favor of transporting the sedan from mi! anyway i left my phone number on your private message, please reply to it!
  24. hey give me a call once you get the car if you have any specific questions about it...check your private messages
