The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to 6 Star's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thank you for Sharing the Link. But I believe that this Modified Leone Coupe: Is still an unfinished product, in need for a uniform paint, and mesh grilles... Then it will be a Ricer Subaru ... ... Somehow the Custom "Bumper" looks Awry. Kind Regards. -
Understood. So, maybe there is some electrical issue on the ECU wiring harness... Despite of the Lack of Codes, very kindly let me suggest you to Disconnect the Battery and keep it Disconnected at least for one Hour to discharge electricity from the Systems, some people also suggest to push the Brake pedal with battery disconnected to discharge any electricity that might been left saved on the condensers inside ECU and TCU; then reconnect the Battery and drive the Car, let us Know of there is a change on the shifting Behaviour / Blinking AT Temperature light issue. Kind Regards.

Have you noticed a sudden Drop of Readings or Lower Readings on the Speedometer and / or the Tachometer? I guess the ATF level is alright and has been properly measured; so the transmission might have an electrical false contact, a failing VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) or TSS (Turbine Speed Sensor) but not a complete fail yet, so I Kindly suggest you to start by checking and cleaning all the electrical contacts on the Transmission's wiring harness, and report if there is a change on the Behaviour. Kind Regards.

I am Glad to know that you Rebuilt your EA82T Touring Wagon, it is a ST model, imported from Japan, isn't it? ... It looks very nice, I like the Photos, thank you for Sharing. The Grille in front, doesn't match the Model, it belongs to an "Early" EA82 style, which was built from late 1984 to 1986, so I wonder how did you attached it to the Newer style headlamps? Kind Regards.

But a Factory Turbo EA81 is pretty Rare nowadays, and not easy to find certain replacement parts. -

This thread has become something pretty Fun, plenty of offtopicness. This comments... ...are accurate and true. The Latin-American way to search for a Part, is usually carrying the original part for comparison purposses, and you say to the seller at the Countertop: "I want to buy one of these" and show them the Part; all the sellers plays the game: "Guess from which car the thing came" and immediately yells something like: "2000 Toyota Corolla" or something similar, usually wrong, but Fun. Kind Regards. -

We have much more disorder here in Latin America, but you are allowed to build anything you want with your car, the authorities only checks the Brakes, Exhaust fumes, Lights, Seatbelts and overall safety, you will never have problems if you comply with such basic regulations; no matter if you drive something like This: ToyoWagen This thing came fro the next country, El Salvador. Kind Regards. -

I agree, however not all people thinks the same way, Nor has the same conditions to keep a car that long. My coupé already reached 45 years old with our family, My Subaru Wagon 30 years old, and my Wife's car 15, But only the last 6 years with us, but all this is offtopic... Let's get back to the Topic: reasons to Not EJ you EA. Kind Regards. -
Reasons not to "EJ it"
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to tweety's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Of course I understand the added fun by a more powerful engine, but this EA82 keeps working great, despite of moving a Heavy wagon, which is Lifted and running Oversized tires... However the magnificent fuel economy it gives, has a price: being anemic; but I prefer that, than overpaying at the Gas station to do the same Hundreds of Errands I do in my "BumbleBeast" weekly, and the offroadings on Weekends. My "BumbleBeast" has a fuel economy compared to a Diesel car with similar size, and also it has the same anemic feeling when driving loaded uphill; but Revving High in Second gear will climb anything; while a much newer Honda (as a common example) will Blow during such high revs under heavy load, for sustained times... the EA82 seems to like that instead! So one Reason to not EJ it, is Fuel Economy. Kind Regards.
