Buying used sub...need negotiating advice
WRX2FFU replied to Kingfisher's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI did that with my truck. Got a 10k truck for $7500. I would have paid 10k... I just looked it over, drove it. I knew what it was worth. I had 9k cash with me. When it came time I took out $7500, showed it to him and said this is all i can offer, will you take it? Him and his wife looked at the money, then eachother, made weird faces. Then I drove away with the truck...

Godzirra! 90 legacy project!
Thanks! Yeah but it will take a long time. I should only have to do it once though. I have done things both ways and find that this usually works out better for me in the end. It's a slow process but when it's done I hope it's worth it.

W series Toyota trans adaptors
Super skills! Something like this sure would make my THM350 bolting to an EG33 project go a lot easier! Granted I am on a budget of way less than 5k... If I don't count my hours I got about $50 in material. LOL! Keep up the awesome work!

Me too! Here are a couple of my scale blueprints. I have quite a few so far... This is some of what is taking a lot of time. It helps a lot for quick reference on measurements...

87 gl rot
Pilers of the car. front windshield pilar = a behind the front door = b and so on... Sill plates/rockers are below the the doors. Honestly also check where your suspension mounts, and all driveline supports are as well.

87 gl rot
No one that I know of makes any chassis replaeable parts. You would have to custom make the parts. Most subaru's end up being scrapped becuse of rust. I'd say it's time to look for a replacement vehicle.

Godzirra! 90 legacy project!
Got the plate all cut out and cleaned up. I have to cut out the center yet and get the holes drilled and trim what i don't need. Good day though. Starting out: In process: Almost done: All in all it took about 10-15 mins to cut out. YAY!

Godzirra! 90 legacy project!
So I just got a new cam. Pics: The THM350, xfer case in the back ground: The "hub": All machining done by me. Tons and tons of hours... Hub in place; Motor side: Trans side: Mini High torque offset starter, universal mount: 1st attempt (10 min) at cutting with the plasma cutter, header flange. Needs cleaned up but not bad for 10 min. New toy: So there we go. Hopefully cutting the adapter plate tomorrow. Cutting 3/4 plate should be interesting.

Your right. It is. I have not had a working camera but it does not matter. I have not gotten anything done really. I have about 400 hours in the machining the hub and blueprinting the adapter plate. The hub is completely done now. It was all machined on a small toy makers lathe which made it tricky to do. The blueprints for the parts were what took the most time. But alas.... I will try to get pics up when I get a new camera. With the little one and hardly seeing my wife due to work schedules I have had no time. It's not forgotten though.

Godzirra! 90 legacy project!
Update! Ok, so I have been busy selling all of my crap to thin down my project workload as it seems that I have no time whatsoever. Well yesterday I picked up a th350 and an np203 case FOR $100 So today I started setting the motor(still the 3.3 h6) and the trans together to start making a template. It's gonna be tricky but it should work out fine. Just need to do ome math on the flexplate-hub to the subaru crank and figure out a starter location. So it starts again....I really want to have this in a full roller by the end of the summer...

Godzirra! 90 legacy project!
So i am stalled. I have been busy selling off stuff. (sold 3 subies and my old truck) I also got the eg33-D/R adapter plate made but I decided to go a different route. I am sourcing a TH350 or TH400 + NP transfer case. I decided I wanted a RWD trans and an automatic. This is a cheap durable option for sure. The hard part will be adapting the eg33 to the chevy trans but I think it will work. I have seen ej motors adapted to chevy trans for drag applications so... So thats the update. I am looking for a good trans/xfer case combo for sale and then I'm gonna get the motor and trans together and then back on the frame. So hopefully more updates soon.

more lift
I would say if you are looking at 35" tires seriously your gonna need at least 6+ inches of lift. Lift is not gonna be your only issue running tires that big. Subafreak is running 33's on his legacy and I am sure he is lifted more than 6" Plus he has an xtra xfer case and such to go with it. I am gonna be running 35's on mine with a custom built suspension, but to get good travel i would say my "lift" we be in the 15"-20" range, maybe more. Some of the brat, and ea guys are running 33's as well with 6-10" of lift. Search around a bit. It's not gonna be easy but it is do able.

Body and frame become 1. I got two rear mounts made and bolted on. The car needs to go up a bit further... But it's starting to look like something. Obviously the frame rails are not done but a good start.

how do i get more hp out of my 2.2
Cams, up the compression, high flow cats and a good catback less than 3", intake. Not a whole lot of options really for simple power. The 2.2 is kind of a workhorse low end torquey motor. Also, and this is just being friendly. You need to do some searching and reading. Your questions have been asked 1000+ times. Your not gonna get a lot of responses because a lot of this info is readily avaliable using searches. A good site for you as well as this one would be rs25.com . Lots of good info in impreza swaps, wiring, power mods, etc.

found this lovely picture of a destroyed ea81 block
