  1. ya im going to buy the brat, i love brats, i actually learned how to drive a manual in my grandpa's 78 brat that i almost got from him to lift until i heard the problems with Gen I's. and yes my girlfriend said she will drive anything as long as it has A/C whch the red wagon has, so looks as if as soon as i can get the cash im buying a brat and selling the blue 87 wagon.
  2. ok i cant make up my mind on this please tell me what you guys think. i have my 1986 GL red wagon my 1987 GL blue wagon my blue one i am selling, and i really want a lifted brat, i can get some 6 lug 15's and tires for free, they are off road tires. but i also love my wagon, and if i get a brat i cant keep the wagon because when i move to arizona there is no way i can drive one down, then get the second transported down there. but here is the catch, i want to put the bigger wheels and tires on the brat so we can rock crawl in our free time, and play in the dunes, the wagon i wouldn't lift simply because of the longer wheel base, more complicated, and i like lifted brats more. but also i need something that can carry crap down there and haul the trayler i got, small little thing to haul the washer and dryer. the wagon i can get alot of stuff in, but not tall stuff. and the brat, well i can get a topper for free, and plus i can take it off for the big stuff. so what do you guys think? sell both wagons and get the brat for myself; let my girlfriend drive the red wagon so we can haul more stuff rather then her take her integra and i get the brat; or keep the red wagon, and not get the brat. please help me here. i have now money and i need to sell stuff to get atleast $1,500 to move before i buy anything else. Thanks everyone, Shean
  3. so if i do put on the DFAV then it will pull better and get better gasmilage then the hitachi? i may just keep the hitachi, and rebuild it and just sell this weber unless i find myself a brat that i can get for cheap and off-road.
  4. i know i will have to buy the adapter, but what is the adapter number for the 32/36 carbs onto the EA82 manifold? i will go get some pictures now if my other computer will comply then upload them later. Shean
  5. well my auto teacher gave me a weber today, its a 32/36 DFAV. its off a VW, came with the intake and adapter top for a regular round filter. would this work on my 86 GL wagon? Thanks, Shean
  6. i got an idear, cut out that peace of metal that lights on fire, put it on a table and have a bunch of kids come over and sit on the ground, the spark it so it ignites and saw MAGIC!! then charge them $5 a head. Shean
  7. if you need help i just did this about 2 weeks ago so i can do it in about 2 hours, start to finish. so if you need some help just ask. Shean
  8. nice, very nice, i got to get on the ball and find the sway bars for my wagon, and do some more suspension mods so she will handle better. Shean
  9. the problem is that they are on my car, another set, and i need that car to get to the parts store, and the ones that broke, are on the road somewhere. oh well, i guyss we will have to just try them in the parking lot. Thanks, Shean
  10. What is the belt sizes for the front of the engine on a carbed EA82 engine. it has A/C, the belt that broke goes around the power steering, A/C, water pump and crank, then i also need the size for the other belt so i can replace it now also. it goes over te crank, power steering, A/C, Alt, and the tentioner. i need these sizes soon please, Thanks, Shean
  11. or you could just build a EXO-skeleton around the hatch so then you can roll it down a hill, fip her back over then climb back up the hill in 4wd. sounds like a hell of a time to me. but if thats not for you, then i will trade you my 87 GL wagon, 4wd auto, nearly mint in every aspect expect for a small case of cancer on the passenger side rear fender which i can fix for ya. Later, Shean
  12. plus with the bigger turbo its much less turbo lag compared to the twin, also again much less fabrication. but it still would be awsome to see a TT subaru
  13. yep, heat it up then put soem candle wax on it, the wax will penitrate it and act as a lube to make it come out, ive done this many times with the oxy-acidaline on engine bolts on chevy engines and many other things. good luck, Shean
  14. yep its now official, this is my third amp ive friend in 3 days, so looks as if tomarrow im going to have to make something work so i can put in a larger alt in my car at my auto shop. and make that front light bar.
  15. dam thats weak, ok, can someone tell me the rating on a stock GM alt, or the average or variants for the GM alts. also if someone can send me some plans on how to put in a GM alt on a EA82 Carbed 4x4 wagon, 5sp and A/C, thats the main thing, i must keep tha A/C since i am moving to Arizona. so if i can get them as soon as posiable because i was planning on building a rack for my rally lights on the front of my car as well as a new mount for the lisence plate. instead of using the stock bumper, kind of the pusher bar that was for the Gen I cars, but out of 1inch square steel tubing and some flat bar and have it mount in the same place as the bumper. Thanks, Shean
  16. ya i swapped the alts for another EA82 stocker i had from another engine and it fixed the problem, now i just have to fab up the GM alt bracket on my spare engine at school and then wire her up. by the way, what is he amp rating on our stock 86 EA82 carbed 4wd alt?? because ive now been driving around with the stereo cranked and its not killin crap, its running great and pushing the watts just fine. Thanks, Shean
  17. well crap, i guess i am gonna have to deal with it until i get the cash to get going and do the GM 105amp alt conversion, and get a capastor. but with the GM alt conversion all i have to do is make a mounting bracket, wire it up correctally, and get a longer belt and it should solve my problems, mainly i just dont have the cash for a capisitor, thats the main problem. oh well i gotta crash have to get up in 5 hours to go to work. Thanks guys, Shean
  18. well crap then, i guess i will have to get that extra 125amp GM Alt i got sittin in my truck and put her on. that should cure my problems. because when i got her home she was down almost at 8 on the volt meter. that was only after about 30 minutes of driving. i wonder how subaru_styles has his settup to be able to handle those 5 amps, plus DVD player and such. must be runnign a dual battery settup, i might just go that route.
  19. with the sway bar removed the body roll is MUCH worse, its not really easier to steer, and the pro's are that you have more travel and less chance of binding up and breaking joints if you are a hard core off-roader. Shean
  20. ok so the alt would explain why the dash lights are on, or that the battery is dead, i know the battery is dead because of my stereo.
  21. ok well today im drivin around and the darn thermostat bypass hose bursts, it ends up when i get it off to be the size of a quarter in thickness, put on the new one, while burning my self many many times. so then i get ym new stereo hooked up, 800wpeak 400w RMS Kole 12" and a Boss 760w amp, man does it hit hard, ended up killing my battery while driving down the highway lol, now i have to also convert to the chevy alt so it can carry the power load. but here are my problems now, comming home my darn dash light come on, and what i mean by this is all the ideot lights (EGR, Brake Fluid, Stop Lamp, and the other one) also the parking brake warning light came on. all these came on while driving down the road. also the car seems to idle really ruff, and i mean the whole car mouncing back and forth. it seems to put along alot and seems as if the cat is clogged because it also doesnt have much power. any sugestions??? Thanks, Shean
  22. good ol vice grips, but i would do as ru4x4ever says. Good luck, Shean
  23. well how about this, who ever is going call me on my cell phone (206)-799-5926 and tell me, because i will be gone from home all day with my girlfriend so just give me a call if your going. Shean
  24. then what does everyone think, i think today, wednesday, after 6pm would be good, we would just have to find a place and snap some pictures before it got too dark.
  25. if your wories about strength that much just take an acedline torch and heat the whole hib red hot around the studs after you weld them, then toss it into some room temp water, this is an easy way of forging it and it makes it ALOT stronger. Good Luck, Shean
