The July 1986 Motor Trend that I'm reading right now clocks the 3dr Turbo 4WD coupe at a 0-60: 10.57 seconds with a 1/4 mile of 17.74 seconds at 78.6 mph. They are not at all fast considering a standard WRX hits the 0-60 in less than half the amout of time.

What happened to your car in the first place? -
Peter, we need to go wheelin' some time!

Subaru says in the owner's manual to use 91 or higher, so thats what I use even though I'm tempted to use 87 when I don't have a lot of cash in my pocket. Better safe than sorry!

This car better not look anything like the latest subaru concept cars, otherwise I will not be buying a new subaru for quite a while. EDIT: I saw the concept drawing, and this is the most disgusting looking subaru I've ever seen! And the B9X? Are we turning into Acrua now? I buy subarus so that I dont have to deal with that alphanumeric BS.

Most embarassing place you've been stuck in your Ru?
carfreak85 replied to RavenTBK's topic in Off Road
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/74sportmag.jpg Thats the worst I've ever been stuck, but it has a burnt out clutch right now, so the hatch is stuck in my driveway! It will idle in gear and not move! -
Wow, thanks Eric! Now to devise a plan for the new rig!

will a subaru engine run backwards...

Ahhh yes, the Ford Sierra Cosworth... -
We paid for the extended warrenty on my Mom's 97 Dodge caravan, and I'll just say that we got our money's worth and then some out of it! Also, the new legacy is not a new car. It has been on sale in Japan for more than a year and was voted car of the year over there. Thats one thing people seem to miss when a Japanese of European car makes it's debut over here, they have, more likely than not, been on sale in their country of origin for some time. Enough time to have the major bugs worked out.

There are no flywheels on EA81 turbo cars because they were all automatics. You also need to be weary about the years of the cars because the flywheels got bigger after a certain point.

:slobber: :slobber: Now if the stock suby wheels weighs eight pounds, I wonder if my enkeis are any lighter!!!

For those of you who had mud flaps on your rigs, what did you mount them to? Bumper? Body? And did you just bolt them on or did you use a flexy mounting system?

load roar when slowing down

Are you sure it is from the suspension/wheel area? I just busted my exhaust on my turbo wagon and it is louder, but especially so when I let off the gas. -
There is a bunch of stuff over around the Bellevue area, but I don't know how much of it has been fenced off yet. Snoqualmie isn't bad.

Could you find out if the have any EA81T heads? One of mine has a small crack in it, and I'd like to get it swapped out. Also, could you find out what EA81T specific stuff is sitting around the shop? Thanks!

EA81T - Which Oil Weight?
carfreak85 replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just use 10W30 as it doesn't get cold enough where I live to need a lighter oil. -

If you turn the impeller around on the oil and water pump and made a camshaft that was a mirror image of the stock one, and maybe the firing order on the disty, then it would in reverse no problem! -
The going rate for a CCR engine is around $1,000. Not cheap, but not bad either. I should have done that with my engine, but the shop I went to charged me $900 for just doing the heads.

Shawn, what EA81T parts, if any, do you have in that enormous stash?

This is what I'm running on my wagon. 13" Enkei eight spoke wheels. They are DAMN light, but I haven't had them on a scale yet.
