Do you want a turbo with your EJ or not? Seriously, that's pretty much the only question that needs answering as it will determine the difficulty of swapping in the best fitting engine. That and do a search for EA to EJ engine swaps, lots of info out there.

Like how cheap? I'm fairly certain that the '75 and maybe the '84 wagon need at least a recharge if not more intimate care.

WOW!! A helpful reply that isn't a snide remark and a brush-back! Yeah, I wasn't thinking about bringing my lowered wagon or anything crazy like that, just wondering if there was going to be anything besides trail runs all day. I don't even know if I'll be making it out for this event yet. Its just that this meet was billed as an off road event IN ADDITION to being an "old school" get together. The last old school meet was fun, but this one seems to be leaning a different direction from the last one and I was curious.

Sure hope that Subaru version of DI makes it to market, it would suck if it became a still-born technology for Fuji.

So I've been told in the past that to fit EA82 control arms on my EA81, I would have to relocate the inboard lower control arm mounts. Can anyone tell me, by looking at the pictures below, in what direction and how far I would have to move the mount to fit EA82 lower control arms to my EA81? I don't really see where or how the mount could be moved except inwards.

How can you tell if the pump is still good? I just picked up a PS setup, but don't know if the pump is any good.

The stud furthest away from the turbine inlet on the VF-11 and TD series turbos is set further back where as the earlier ones are the same, except that one stud is closer to the inlet. Rob, I feel the pain on the manifold. I had one start coming apart on a trip to Whistler, B.C. a few years back. By the time I got home, I had almost no power. Glad I lightened my passenger load in Bellingham, otherwise I might have overheated it.

Good thinking, never would have posted on CL. Also remembered that one of my co-workers dates a Japanese girl and speaks a little too. He helped with a few things, but he can't actually read REAL Japanese characters, just english that has been written in Japanese, so the hunt is still on.

Love that old school scooby knowledge. I've got some JDM info brewing, but that will have to wait for another thread. Also, based on the '84 factory specs manual I just picked up that the 1984 1.8 4WD sedan was the A3 vin code. The same manual also specifies that the SOA166 200 and SOA165 630 winch kit should not be fitted to the Turbo models, interestingly enough. I can attest that an EA81T with any sort of cooling problems would not be helped by a winch mounted in front of the radiator.

Wow, I completely forgot about this thread! Glad I found it again. GD, good thinking on the secondary control unit. I think that will probably be the simplest, most cost efficient solution. I've already got a lot going on under the dash on my red wagon, but depending on the size of the control unit, I might be able to spare some real estate on the passenger's side.

Sorry, I have no idea if Sparco makes anything for cars older than about 15-20 years old. I should ask them, maybe tonight when I get home from campus, but I really doubt they will have anything.

Same here. Did you ever find out if Sparco seats will mount to those Corbeau mounts? Are the mounts sliders, or fixed?
