I am thinking of picking these wheels up for my Impreza. Just in case it doesn't fit, will they work with my BRAT unlifted? http://www.4wheelparts.com/4wp/products/productLine.asp?cat=TIR&prodline=1024&catName=Tires&man=INTE I eventually will get a lift on them so it's not entirely a loss. BW

so after some looking I think 4wheel parts has a tire that I may get. http://www.4wheelparts.com/4wp/products/productLine.asp?cat=TIR&prodline=1024&catName=Tires&man=INTE So its right in the middle of 215/70/R15 and 215/75/r15. Overall diameter would be 27.5 inches. Will probably match them to a set of US wheels white wagon wheel rims to give it the old school look. There is a store near me so I will wait for a sale on Swampers.

two thoughts.. 1) I would be lucky to get my BRAT up to 100 MPH w/o it shaking apart. 2) I think more of a worry is people pulling over to the side of the road at some tempting mud holes:brow: Let's all drive SAFE BW

Here is what I got re:the rear bearing. PM me if you have any specific questions

Hehehe.. I know the feeling. I am sure as more 2nd gen soob head to the bone yard, people will start moding them more. BW

True, the Forrester is made from the Impreza body. Subarubrat: In regards to the 10 inch lift and 30X12's.. why am I not suprised you would say that..... BTW I would love to see your BRAT first person this winter. Heading to VA in Dec for Christmas. BW

wow... that's SWEET!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang: -
Momentum is key. I regards to the spark system, I find the b/c the DIS is sitting on top of the intake manifold all that heat helps them dry pretty fast. I have sprayed my engine down w/a hose w/no firing problems. Water in the intake is more of a concern. Like Baja said, just keep the car moving and you should be ok.

If you can get the d/r tranny count me in. BTW how big were the tires that you put on? Also, when you say off-roader, what kind of terrain where you thinking of? Trails, mud bogging, rock crawling. I think that if I were to do a mild lift and put on 28-29 inch tires, my OBS would probably do alot better in the mud. I find the ground clearance is my biggest issue. BW

woohoo.. just got the time off approved by my supervisor. Now the only thing that is holding me back is the idea that I may have to move to a new appt at the end of August. I started a previous thread about having this big subbie flag made. After several quotes of over 200 bucks for just the set up charge I have decided to get a piece of blue outdoor tarp and some yellow paint and make my own. I am planning it to be roughly 2 by 3 flag. Will see about making more with the left over material and some poles to mount them. BW -

Sub Junkie- Plan to leave Thurs at noon. Cruise up to Sacramento by Thursday late afternoon. I am ok w/spending Thur night at Sacramento or Klamath Falls. It's all good. That might make it easier on the BRAT. Right now fuel costs is the biggest factor that I need to consider. BTW what's gas cost up there in Sacramento and Oregon? I am at 2.15-2.30 per gallon. BW -
The lure of cheap parts, easy to fix and ability to go up or down makes Soobs irresistable. ohh.. that and 4WD. my roommate is a soobie less soob addict. well I guess he's driving my BRAT so he does have a soob. The key is making my g/f a soob addicit. Wish me luck on that one. bw

One thing about the repair if you are planning to do a complete restoration. The BRAT's had that area carpeted so regardless of how it looks, you can just cover it with a carpet. I would just use a piece of sheet metal there. No need to chop up another BRAT. Heck, maybe you can chop up another pickup. BW

BRIAN-- Google search yielded Klamath Falls Campground. I will call them and get info on rates and location. That's a possibility. I would crash in car but I have three people in my car. BW -
Yeah. now comes the big dilema.... get used rally tires 205/55/r15 for 50 bucks a piece get 215/75/r15 for 100 bucks a piece, or wait and get OBW struts and figure out how to do a mild 1-2 inch lift and get big meats? decisions decisions...... oh.. wait.. I guess getting engaged and married will probably come before these. BW

:-\ interesting... did you answer your own question? I got my first Soob in 2000. It was an Outback sport. Loved the way it looked with the hood scoop. Being an old Jeep person I was tempted to drive it off road immediately. Soon afterwards I realized how versatile it was. It handles great on road, handles great off road. You just have to know your limits. in regards to old school soobs I got my BRAT b/c it's really easy to work on and the engine is similar to my OBS. Plus it was only 550. Welcome to the board. bW

Representing Old School last friday (semi-rant)
s'ko replied to s'ko's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The people that I met were basically nice. I guess the funniest thing is hearing that they spend enough money on just Rims and tires to really deck out my BRAT. Like 700 bucks for rims. 700 bucks for my BRAT would get me a lot more. But hey, if you have the money to throw around why not. I think that's the biggest difference between old school and new school. Old School prides itself in DIY mods and PAP finds. New School prides itself in who tuned their car and how many name brand go-fast parts they can buy. Plan to go back this friday. BW -
Nope. Turboed WRX's. In the twisties HP is not really a factor. Going up the mountain I was neck to neck with then. Going down the mountain I had a bit of trouble b/c my brakes overheated. But if I had the brakes to maintain the speed/braking I think I would be ok. If there were more straightaways, I definately would have eaten dust. BW

So I heard from I-Club that the a bunch of WRX owners hang out right near me every friday night. So I decide to go with my BRAT. People were pretty interested at the old school soob. Some were even amazed at the spare under the hood. most of the rides were 2002-2003 WRX's. there were a few 2004-2005 sti's. One guy showed up in his 2000 RS. Overall fairly interesting time. Sorta got bored after a while listening to them yap about BOV and Rota wheels and blah blah blah.... It's not so interesting when you just dump money into your ride to make it look/perform better. I would rather get my hands dirty and do it myself the old shade-tree mechanic way. That's why I am looking forward to WCSS6. Hang w/some old school folks that actually know how to work on their rides. BW
