  1. IMO Go with the RT-S. Looks like the sidewall lugs are more aggressive than the AWR's. Is there a difference in the sidewall plys between the two tires?
  2. yeah.. ricerboy CRX, big kazoo exhaust, wet road me w/awd OBS. he threw revs, I looked at him & shrug. Light turned green, he did this . I just drove away normal
  3. Let's start with basics. Fuel/Air 1) Crank engine a few times. Pull a spark plug and smell the cylinder. If you don't smell gas, then you need to test the individual components of that system. If you do smell gas then it's not fuel. 2) Take that spark plug w/the wire and rest it against the engine and have a friend crank the car. Do you see spark? If no, test the individual components of that system. Yes than it's not spark That leaves compression as the last factor. That may help people guide you towards what's wrong. Good Luck
  4. I just looked at Superpages.com and I found a possible rally point at Klamath Falls. It's near where the 97 and the 39 meet. There is a Mcdonalds at 1874 Avalon St or a library on 3704 South 6th St. within 1 mile radius of these places are a Safeway grocery store and a NAPA and a Schucks. I have no idea how big the parking lots are in both of these places. Maybe a head count of how many people plan to rally at Klamath Falls would be a good start. I think that Cali group is going to have SubaruJunkie, Ren. Man and myself. Any other comers? BW
  5. Thought I would bump this up b/c we are less than two weeks away. For the people meeting in Klamath Falls, anyone interested in taking a detour to Bend and driving up to Crater lake national park. There is a road that goes around the rim of the Crater. Probably add an hour to our drive to Bend, but maybe I hear it's worth it. WCSS6 t-minus 9 days and counting
  6. hmmm.... good thing my BRAT is pretty ugly right now. People do walk around it and are amazed that it's still running. One things i did when I had a jeep was take a large padlock and lock the gas and clutch pedals together. I figured they may be able to start the car, but the could'nt drive it anywhere. A kill switch will probably be looked into when I really get serious about restoring it. Good luck about getting it back. BW
  7. Engines need three things to run. Fuel/Air Spark Compression Go down the list and isolate each one until you get to what isn't working and then work on the individual components of that system until you get to the problem. If no one is willing to cruise over there, get help from the Board via specifics. Good luck, BW
  8. Bigger tires shouldn't really affect your ride that much. The biggest difference will be low end power, bigger tires require more torque to turn. and your center of gravity. Taller car = taller center of gravity. Your car probably won't be able to glide through the twisties like it can, and it might be a little louder depending on the tires you run. Oh I picked up a set of 215-75-r15 from a JY. Looks like they won't fit w/o major body work and banging. Getting a set of Outback struts would give you more clearance. You would probably also need a lift kit to make it work right.
  9. Wilkomen. That's about all the German I know. Don't worry about your english, you spelled better than most of the people on the board. wow you only have 22,000 miles on your car. I have a 2k Impreza and I did like 20K in the first year that I owed it. Of course I live in California and use to drive 60 miles to work each day. Have fun on the board.
  10. VERY nice. Hmm... so that's what my BRAT would look like lifted...
  11. IIRC Mutrat79 made the lift kit for that Forester. Here is a thread that he put re:lift kits http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1021&highlight=forester+lift the difference between the 215/65/r16 and the 215/70/r16 is only an inch. check this site out for tires sizes between Metric and Standard. http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html Super Swamper sells some tires that may fit. Good luck with the build. BW
  12. Hear that noise in the background?? it's the collective jaws of USMB doing this. Good luck we need more people who can take their ideas into reality. BW
  13. Not sure anyone has tried this, after doing the XT6 alternator swap, I noticed that the Alternator on the Impreza is very similar. Has anyone every tried putting a EJ series alternator onto an EA engine. I know that the starter will work for both. Anyone willing to try it out.
  14. yep those. Not really fancy, but fairly inexpensive and it suits my purpose.
  15. Thinking of getting the US wheel series 70 for my Impreza. Problem is they don't come in a 5X4 bolt pattern. Old School soobs are running re-drilled 6X5.5's so does anyone see a problem with drilling holes in between the existing bolt holes to make it 5X4? I don't think the off-set should be a problem b/c the wheel is only 1 3/4 inch over stock. Also does anyone know the stock width of these wheels? Thoughts comments concerns?
  16. Dude, that's why you have two motors. One for emission and one for driving. In California we have to smog once every two years. Worth keeping a spare motor lying around for those times
  17. Welcome. AmericanYouth Good luck w/your projects. It might be easier to get the RX first as they are getting more scarce BW
  18. You know I dont know what year. what were you looking for?
  19. Ok here goes. Someone told me that the carby from an EA81 Sedan has the largest stock jets. Can anyone else verify this? Thanks BW
  20. Ok so didnt some serious JY prowling this weekend. Found 6X140 wagoneer rims, XT6 alternator, EA81 sedan carby. Some parts for my secret project to be revealed at wcss6 I also found a 1 gen wagon w/good body parts, a 1 gen BRAT w/Camper shell and dual head light assembly and grill. an FWD XT6 w/o alternator. If ya need any parts from these please contact me by Friday.
  21. THanks for all of the tips. Found a sweet set of Wagoneer Alloy at the PAP. Here is one of them already drilled.
  22. I have only done this once a few months ago so some of it may be wrong. THIS IS FOR AN EA81 so nut sure if it applies to EA82 TOOLS 1) Hardened punch set 2) hammer 3) axle nut socket or large pipe wrench 4) screwdrivers 5) 2x4 6) new bearing 7) new bearing grease seals 8) Bearing grease 9) Gloves.... or lots of soap and hand cleaner. 1) Remove the pin on axle nut and loosen the nut. 2) Remove the wheel. 3) Punch out the pins at the diff and the wheel on the axle drive shaft. 4) Look at the wheel assembly. When the axle drive shaft is remove there will be what looks like a washer w/4 notches on it. This has to be unscrewed. You will probably see that the metal rim has been hammer into one of the notches. You have to straighten this before you attempt to remove it. Common term for this is "UNSTAKE THE NUT" I had a hard time doing this. Once the metal is clear, take a punch and slowly tap the ring counterclock-wise using the notches. 5) Remove grease seals 5) Remove the axle nut. Take 2x4 and hold it against the outside of the axle. Hammer away. 6) W/the axle piece removed, take the punches and tap the bearing assembly lightly until it comes off. 7) Get new bearing and grease the puppy up. Assemble it onto the new axle. 8) Re-install the axle. I think I did it from the back but I can't remember. 9) Put grease seals in place 10) Put the ring nut in place. Per "How to keep your Soob alive" tighten it up as much as it will go and then back it out a little bit. (might want to check on that one w/others) 11) "Re-stake" the ring nut 12) re-install axle nut. 13) re-install axle drive shaft 14) re-install wheel. That should be it. Is this correct enough for repair manual submission? BW
  23. I am going to the PAP this weekend to get a set of 6X140 15inch rims. Like title says which make and model would make suitable donors BW
  24. Welcome. The first place that you can start is the marketplace forum. There maybe one on there every once in a while. A Pick a part is also another source. Good luck and congrats on your BRAT. BW
  25. Welcome, Heck even if you can't get it well enough, join us for WCSS6. I am sure there are lots of people w/spare room in their car.
