  1. Heres something that might be beneficial for the offroader. If you see you are going into a mud pit or a water hole and you had your electric fan on a toggle switch you could just kill it until you were out that way you dont mess up the fins. Or am i alittle late on this thinking.
  2. Yea i noticed just now on rockauto the alts for the maxima are seemingly cheeper then there subaru brotheran. Definately a great upgrade to get some of that pesky interior electrical noises at bay. Any word on how this reacts with the factory ac in place. I should just rip it out because it doesnt work. Its all there and holds pressure but not charged.
  3. I trusted a bumper jack to much and while lifting my 89 crown victoria it started to tip forward. To bad my older brother was infront of it at the time and he dove under a work bench while the car crashed into it. Pretty lucky there. Also i was changeing the oil on this deralect car and my pop always told me if your haveing a hard time shove a screwdriver through the oilfilter and it will help twist it off. Well it didnt work out so well and i ended up shredding the oil filter and makeing it unable to start. I ended up selling it to a guy who ran it into a demo derby. Motor had a nasty rod knock so it wasnt that big of a loss.
  4. If there is one thing i havent done is rotate the tires. And I just remembered, 1 tire is different then the rest. But its not much older then the others and tread depth is the same.
  5. Not likely a change in tranny or rear diff. My brother knew the previous owner (a doctor) and my brother was the owner after that. As far as tires go they are all the same make and model. The tranny is 5speed single range and the rear diff is 3.9
  6. Having mildly (real mild) offroaded my soob and generally beaten the crap out of it. The single range 4wd is enough to get you through most situations but not serious ruts, rocks, tree stumps, real slippery hills, etc etc. But starting out you should be ok. If i were you i would buy the lift first but then hold off on putting it on until you have your wheels and tires. That way you lift it, its ok then put your wheels on and your good to go. You can still do some mild offroading with your single range until you can find a dual range. Depending on what lift you get is what size tires. The 2 inch lift im getting says i can have 27 inch tires on it. Do some more checking around on the search function and you will see what others have done. Hell check out oneeye he has done many 2 inch lifts and he has lots of pictures in the threads he does. So you can compare stock to 2 inch lifted. Ben
  7. So do i:lol:
  8. Yes i drive it while it has the known wheel bearing issue, but this problem has just started happening. Ive had the wheel bearing problem for months. As far as fast, its a 98hp motor new its not going very fast. I rairly take it above 45mph.
  9. Dude your 19 and you still cant drive after midnight. If thats a wisconson rule thats dumb. Oh and to keep this thread real, i prepped my junkyard toolbox. Now im ready for anything.
  10. Yea another weekend goes by, cold rainy. Snow still all over the place. My wife laughs at me because i half to open the door to let the exhaust fumes out of the car before i get in. Probally next weekend. I think im going the all thread route because dumba** sales peple dont know when im talking about 7/16 exhaust stud.
  11. Now tom, dont be a wimp. Lets see what your car can do, we dont have much trails around here but to get the chance to meet the imfamous McBrat and his (creation) i think you could swing it.
  12. That would be all well and good 91Loyale but heres the thing, there all the same size. Same wheel, same air pressure, same everything. Soooooo yea kinda puts a kabosh in that.
  13. Dont remember if i asked this, but what size are u running on your brat. Just finished cleaning and organizing my tools again. Wow what a mess that was.
  14. Mr Brat, just curious, how many drill bits did you use or what type.
  15. I wanted to try the rustolium roll on paint job but it takes to much time to do it right. Paint, sand, paint sand paint sand. It is cheeper buy far but takes more time. This way i spray and i sand down with 1500 grit and make it smooth. Good to go.
  16. If anyone could teach someone to do walker in a non lifted soob, im sure you would be the guy jeff.
  17. What are you saying here brent, are you saying i dont know what im talkin about. Are you telling me what to do, who the heck do you think you are. Your just wrong thats all just wrong. Your a silly smelly lama thats all. Sorry everone else gives you crap i guess i had to also. I guess what im saying is that im not painting my car primer thats not the route i was thinking about. But it is a flat color.
  18. So i noticed kinda some weird things when going in and out of 4wd today and now i share them with you. IM also looking into others imput on how there 4wd systems operate. So when i push in the button (single range) the light comes on and a second latter i feel the engine bog down alittle bit as it engauges the rear wheels. Ive noticed that it pulls to the left more when 4wd is engauged. It also seems to wanter more when 4wd is engauged then not. Like the old set of tires i had in just kinda seems to wanter from side to side but when i shift it back into 2wd mode this goes away. When i shift from 4wd to 2wd some times it SLAMS out of gear. Now some other things of interest. The car is old and does have a rear wheel bearing issue. Just curious how your systems operate and if these symptons are somewhat normal. Thanks Ben
  19. Well spraycans it is i guess.
  20. But if i use primer, when rust showes up, sand alittle, more primer and then done. Its not a nice car guys, dont get me wrong i like my car but when it comes down to it, its just a beater. I just want my beater to be 1 color. IF i had a car with not so much rust then we could talk different but oh boy theres rust.
  21. I probally need a pretty good compressor to throw the paint, i only know of people who have the huge ones nothing portable. I wish i still had my garage. Or knew someone who did. I can wait till spring just still dont see myself having anyplace to do this.
  22. I color man, 1 color is all i want. Its 4, maroon, black, white and orange rust. And it was a craigslist add so i assume it would be done in some dudes garage. I sh*t you not im about just to get some friggin spray cans and do it in the apartment parking lot. If you put paint on thick enough you can sand it down to look decent. Its not breaking any hearts as it sits now so what difference does it make if its in primer or not. Not trying to bust anyones buns here but if i had the means, give the guy what he wants and then be done with it. If no one will do it this spring for cheep ill do it myself this summer, i already have most of the stuff just lack a place to do it.
  23. Anyone have a problem with painters being to artistic. I can apreciate a guy wanting to hone his craft and do a good job. But when i say i want a simple primer coat sprayed on a car and i get told no i dont do that then wtf. I kinda figured people would be hard pressed for cash and could use money. All there is doing is spraying the car, im supplying the paint.
