  1. We have a purple 93 too. GF loves it and won't part with it. I just got a green 95 and did a jdm wrx swap on it. Try RS25.com Nasioc is mostly 02+ WRX stuff anymore.

  3. I'll let the myth perpetuate itself. I make a lot of money buying and repairing the blown head gasket cars.
  4. Rotors are cast iron, not steel. I'm square in the middle of the rust belt. OEM rotors rust just like anything else here. Large chunks of the braking surface flake off often. Cheap rotors are $20-30. Expensive and OEM ones are $150. Places around here charge $20 to cut rotors. I just put on a fresh set of cheapie rotors with almost every pad change I do. It makes sense for me.
  5. http://www.rockauto.com is about the cheapest I've found for brake parts. Rotors are rotors. No point in buying them from a dealer, just get what's cheap. If it's just an everyday driving car, any name brand semimetallic pad is fine like wagner, raybestos, bendix etc . Some of the real cheapo no-name pads can be noisy and not last too long. If you can turn a wrench, take the wheel off and it's 4 bolts per side to change pads and rotors. Just use a c clamp to push the piston back in. You can do it in about 1/2 hour. If not most places will charge about 1-1.5 hours labor.

  7. Not in the US. We got 2 pot front 1 pot rear brakes on the wrx 02-05. Those could fit a lot of different models. Legacy, WRX, RS etc. The calipers are all the same mostly, just different brackets for different rotor sizes.
  8. That is the way to go then. It's a pain having to park, get out, wait in line then, get back in the car and park again. They should have done this a long time ago.

  10. I think they are from a 97. You'd just swap the door wiring harnesses over. Original paint. They will probably still be here in April, unless I get sick of looking at them and scrap them.
  11. pop the grommets out and the wiring plug is inside the body pillar. There is usually enough slack to pull it out. If not pop off the trim panels inside the car.
  12. Compare the numbers on the back of the fob. If they are the same it will work.
  13. I have 4 green outback doors in PA, no rust out $25 each picked up. I really just want them gone.
  14. My advice, don't put anymore time or money into a questionable engine. Get a 2.2 and put it in. Don't spend more than $500 if you get it pulled out or $100 if you go to a U-pull it. Try to find one under 200,000.
  15. Get underneath it with a chisel and pop it out. Tap the new one in with a hammer.
  16. Is your 95 a 5 speed or automatic? If it's a 5 speed the 90 engine will work as long as you transfer the intake manifold and all the sensors over from your old engine. If it's an automatic, you need a 95 2.2 automatic engine for a direct fit. Or a 96-98 2.2 automatic engine if you can get the matching single port exhaust y pipe. You can replace the crank key, but usually the end of the crank gets damaged when they come loose.

  18. How exactly can over torquing the axle nut warp the rotor? 140 ft lbs is a lot, unless you have a 4 foot bar on it, you don't really have to worry much about getting it too tight.
  19. All of the turbo parts will just bolt on. The wiring and ECU is different. The non turbo engine will have higher compression. Assuming you put all the turbo parts on the non turbo engine, you'd need a way to retune it to run correctly with higher compression.
