  1. Received mine today. Thank you. Nice workmanship, Scott. Seriously high quality and completeness with included hardware. Hmmm, so now I can upgrade from 73 to 130+ reliable HP... in a Brat. That's almost doubling the power-to-weight ratio. Just for argument and power whoring - will this also work for an EJ-25 (165HP)? r/ PK p.s. Scott, I will try to call you this weekend on another EJ issue, that Zap is holding.
  2. Nice work GD. So the only real indicator is NOT having the extra 10mm bolt holes in casting tubes. Mods, sticky it. r/ PK
  3. For years, I thought IPA was Indian Pale Ale. I usually have some when watchin Seafoam at the Marvelous Mystery Ocean. r/ PK
  4. I understand what audio_file is saying. We have a lot of Subaru knowledge/experts here; I would speculate some of the best on the planet. And I appreciate those trying to advise fellow members of better choices. However, that being said, some of have limited funds, skills, or facilities to perform such tasks. Then some of us live in smog-nazi states, and do not want to go to the BAR for a waiver. Or maybe we are performing a restoration. We may just want advice on original equipment. So for me, I welcome the suggestion ONCE, then if I say no thanks, lets focus on the SUBARU problem. Digressing into Mopar analogies et. al., belongs in another thread topic or BBS. Besides, everyone knows the EJ22T is the best motor ever, and every USMB thread should start with "I don't have an EJ22T, but help me anyway". LOL j/k r/ PK.
  5. Again, brilliant. I know many are enamored with down draft webers, but just for argument/brainstorming, what about using a side-draft carb that feeds to the MAF inlet, and cone filter on the carb's other end occupying the spare tire area? Mikunis, Dellortos, Webers ( I know, they're spendy) VW Kardins?
  6. Uh - can someone splain how the escort disty goes into an EJ22? Holy cow, where have I been when this occured? Is there a write up or DIY instructions? thanks in advance, PK.
  7. It's not just the compressor/inner fender clearance - the bottom idler v-belt pulley gets right in the way of the lower radiator hose with 4-inch. Best to find an EA81T A/C bracket setup. r/ PK
  8. There's still a good selection from online tire companies. I have bought tires from both http://www.tirerack.com and http://www.onlinetires.com and highly recommend either. Prices are very fair, shipping was fast and cheap. Tires show up at my door, and I then carry in to WalMart and get their lifetime hazard, install, balance, etc for $10/tire.
  9. Oh Yeah. ... but for daily driver, I'd get a Legacy.
  10. Hello All, Been looking at the new Imps. They look good on paper - bigger inside, wider, quieter, etc. Not the bugeye we are used to, but the look of the wagon has really grown on me... I'm itchin' Anyone have one yet, and care to elaborate? thanks, PK. p.s. All is well here after 4 days of evacuation. Fire only came to ten feet from my balcony (seriously)
  11. Nice detail on the chrome stuff. Should be a nice "Lexus-looking" Sube. Easier to paint wagon wheels gold, and use the chrome centers, lugs, and rings... but just IMO. r/ PK
  12. Your Outback already has CAI. The airbox attached to the fender has its inlet hole introducing outside cold air. If you put tubing and a K&N cone filter on the end that remains inside the engine bay, you will have WAI (warm air intake). You will also have more noise (throttle) eminating from the engine, and more dirt entering the engine - while the K&N may flow more air, it does not filter as well as the OEM paper element. Okay, let the flames begin:Flame: r/ PK
  13. Okay, so I ran down to the San Diego meet Saturday about high noon. Looked to be 30-40 Subarus all parked nicely. Good bunch of guys with some expensive toys and BBQ. Wait a minute.. how'd that get in there. Old skool consisted of ....me ....and my TBrat, LOL. There was an SVX, an STI-typish Forester, and the rest Imps. Some real nice ones for sure, definitely go-fast stuff. I bailed early and went to see ZIGGY at Del Mar. Great reggae:banana::banana:, but it got a little smokey
  14. Just an FYI before high hopes turn into "is that all?" It is my understanding (and I have seen literature) that the Imp/Forester dual ranges have a 1.19:1 low range ratio... that's only a 19% gear reduction. The EA82 5 spd was 1.52:1 - 52% Most 4WDs are 2.5:1 Jeep Rubicon is 4.0:1 This D/R may be intended as a power or towing mode option and a nice-to -have as every bit of gearing helps a Sube, but may be a bit spendy for 19%. r/ PK
  15. FYI - the 82 clutch cable is different than the 83+ The cable length vs the cable housing differs. Also, the 82 has the small clutch... kinda worthless if you go with bigger tires - you'll burn it right up. The best mod then would be to change to the bigger clutch set and flywheel. It's a direct bolt in. Easy too. New flywheel is about $75. r/ PK
  16. Didn't the XT / Vortex also have 4EAT? Maybe its crossmembers could be adaptable. Thread Hijack - Hi Chris, this is Patrick. Can you PM me a GOOD email to get ahold of Brett? He's elusive, LOL - but I still owe him some money zzz Thanks, PK Doh?! John beat me, lol.
  17. Hello Earl, I will take one set BLACK. Please PM shipped cost to 92128, and your preferred method of payment. Thank you, PK
  18. What what? I thought A/C and the third eye didn't mix because of the condenser in front of the radiator. I guess I am wrong... Anyone confirm this? anyone? Bueller? BTW, great find, looks to be in fine condition and should be a keeper. r/ PK
  19. Hello All, ZAP has helped me prototype the EJ lift. His is done and will be installed after the WCSS9, or after his new house and family priorities. The EJ lift varies slightly through the years (e.g. 90-91, 92-94, 95, 00, 03 etc), and steel, aluminum and bolt prices are very spendy nowadays. Also, all models will have to already have or upgrade to Outback struts (~$350) because the lift does not allow fitment of larger tires with the stock struts. All-in-all, the kits would have to cost around $500, then add the struts and your talking $850+ before tires. I am reluctant to start production, because of variations, price and available time. I recommend contacting SJR Lifts... or perhaps AA if they offer an EJ lift. r/ PK
  20. I met Dave Stall (The Car Guy) last month. He said tire pressure should be at 5 psi under the max tire rating cold for best safe mpg, and is the single best improvement. Aerodynamics and excess vehicle weight were next. These of course after ensuring you car is running in top form (plugs and air cleaner a must). Get this > (I'm not endorsing) he said the Turbonator actually works on many vehicles as do magnets on the fuel lines. Go figure. Let's not get in a discussion too much about those, but I thought I'd pass his research/opinion. +1 on the vacuum gauge. r/ PK.
  21. Whoa, stop the press. Where do you get 205/75-13 tires? Do you have a pic? Thanks, r/PK
  22. Are the front strut extensions in properly, that is, moving the strut tops closer to the engine? The extensions have ~28mm (more than an inch) offset, which should keep the camber near or at zero, and when installed correctly, frequently require inner fender hammering to clear. If in backwards, your tires would definitely look like: \----/ r/ PK.
  23. Lifting from the bottom - yes, sounds simple - HOWEVER, You may have to run 16 or 17 inch wheels because the strut bolt bracket faces the outside and will hit the wheel when pushing it up 2 inches. ... at least it does on my 93 Leg. r/ PK
