  1. Thar be stickers for all the BYB rigs. Tin S, who's kit do you have?
  2. Is it a BYB kit? {laughing cause people still call them PK Lifts} Here comes the shameless plug for BYB: New international oval decals ordered. Qman and Zap PM'd ya.
  3. Almost Hijacking post.... So can one swap dashes out between a DL and GL? Is all the wiring behind the dash standard and there are unused connectors waiting to be used? thanks, r/ PK
  4. Hey Noah, there's a Super Bowl? I lost track about 3 weeks ago, when the Chargers puked again. Maybe now they'll move to L.A. Then there's the Packers that, well, too much beer 'n brats - forgot to practice. ... and what's with the Seahawk logo for avatars around here, LOL? Guess my avatar's in the wrong league, and continent? I 'spose I'll root for the Hawks, since they're west coast, and I do like Holgren (ex cheesehead). Then there's the $2M/minute commercials - they better be good. I'll have to get back to ya as I don't know where I'll be that weekend yet. r/ PK
  5. Thanks, xlnt info! The car is slated for a 3/2 lift and ~24.5" tires, so the freeway cruising will be just fine. to all. r/ PK
  6. I know the preferred choice is a 5spd DR swap , at least everyone was courteous and I didn't get flamed. This BBS is great, a ton-O-information and opinions are always welcome. As to the 'WHY' an auto, the vehicle may go to my son. He doesn't need (nor do I want him to have) any more power than a warmed-over EA81, and he does not want a manual trans at all. I loved the 4EAT in my Turbo Loyale - it rocked. However, I can see an advantage of weight and simplicity for using the 3AT. NOW FOR A FOLLOW-ON QUESTION (talking about 4WD/AWD - trans's only, no FWD): Two types of 3AT? Early version was part-time, shift on the fly, and later was full-time AWD? What was in the Turbo Brat?
  7. Thank you all, Actually, I was thinking the EA82/Loyale 4EAT - I didn't know they were ultra rare. Now the EJ auto has like a 0.697 4th gear and with it the 3.7 final would put the RPMs well down for a mere 73 hp EA81 to wrangle. Hmmm, seems like a 3 spd slush-O-matic might be better? Can someone confirm - it just bolts in and no TCU for that, correct? Does anyone have anything GOOD to say about the 3 spd AT? thanks again, r/ PK.
  8. No flaming as to WHY please - but, has anyone ever bolted a 4EAT to an EA81? I figure to change the rear to 3.7 also, and think the front will need 25 spline axles. Then do I just need the TCU? and wire-it in/get'r done? r/ PK
  9. Noah, There's a small Ecology in Oceanside, but a large one in Chula Vista/Otay Mesa. There's even another about two stones throw from Mexico - you can see the border fence - lol. I've been to them all and there's always Subes and occasionally Peugeots in the CV one.
  10. Excellent. Regarding the 258, there is a lot of aftermarket support, including an Offy dual port manifold and Holley set-up. r/ PK
  11. Stock Mini - Check the SCORE rulebook. IIRC - the engine must have been offered by the manufacturer for that year of the vehicle... I think. You can cross model lines, but not advanced years. So you can put an EA82T in a Brat since it was offered in Subaru line during the same years. But an ER27 wasn't offered until 1988, so you could put it in a 1988 Brat (no US versions) but I don't think you can in a 1987 or earlier Brat. I may be full of it, so someone correct me or spend the $20 on the SCORE rulebook for sure. r/ PK
  12. Actual compression ratio is calculated by dividing the cylinder volume at BDC by the cylinder volume at TDC. I dunno how practical that is other than engineering theory. {shrug} r/ PK.
  13. You know, collecting pictures of Subaru wheels is a sick hobby, LOL. Just kidding, your info provides so much to us all, thank you. Here is a pic of a wheel that the mates over on Ausubaru.com couldn't find in your wheels page. So, I thought I'd post here for you to comment and/or add to the collection. They say it's 13" diam. Cheers and thanks, PK.
  14. Hello All, Happy New year, I didn't find total clarification during my search, so if I am stupid, point me to the info. I know the 5 speed with 1.59:1 ratio low range is part-time 4wd. When I see some RXs, they have "Full Time AWD" stickers etc. Is this for only the single range transmissions? I know they have the dual-range transmissions too. I want to know the following: Is the RX 5 speed with the 1.2:1 low range part-time or full-time AWD? And, if it's full-time, then shift-on-the-fly into low range? thank you, PK.
  15. ... and you need to read alot more {said respectfully}. There are several kit builders that will get you a "bolt-in" kit up to 4". SJR can get you 6" with some light fab work. Beyond that, it become$ cu$tom. Beyond 6", you need to consider going with front diff and divorced transfer case conversion, otherwise the lift gets counter-productive - IMHO. Few items: steering extensions get complicated, shift linkage gets real complicated (or cut the tunnel), brake line extensions, camber issues, need for subframe versus just using blocks. I don't think $1k will cover this ($600-800 in tires/wheels alone). Whoa Baby!! - My 1000th Post!!!! at least it was a productive one. r/ PK
  16. I'm in SD and might be able to break away for a beer and a handshake. I see your publicist has your age listed as 7... may have to go to Tijuana for that beer. PM me anytime. What brings you to SD?
  17. No worries - sometime between March '06 and WCSS8 We'll talk later, glad to have you as a resource. r/PK
  18. Cool. Then.... Can you do a set of "BRUMBY" letters in same manner and location as you offer for "BRAT"?
  19. Thank you gentlemen. What ausubaru92 referenced is great. When I said is it possible?, I was thinking about keeping it tucked up like stock, having the drivers side pipe follow its normal path, but have the pass side exhaust runner make detour bend(s) to add length before joined into single pipe in normal location. Heres a rough draft:
  20. I'm with Corky on this one. I have been to two WCSSs and have met many people and would recognize half, sorry. I plan to be at WCSS8 and I want the following: Name tags with one's USMB handle like these: ------------------ Hi, my name is: Patrick aka OZified ------------------ or ----------------- USMB Member Dr. RX Corky ----------------- {Geez, I'm already tasking show organizers} r/ PK p.s. Nametags do not have to be pre-printed, just blanks available to write on, and that way NASIOC, USMB, Rallitek, etc can be referenced.
  21. Have you seen these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Gen-2-Subaru-Brumby-Brat-2-Piece-Over-The-Roof-Decals_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50447QQitemZ8022620983QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Whadaya think? p.s. - I like your prices just fine.
  22. {Lightbulb clicks on}I was puzzled, but that explains the exhaust pondering on my new-2-me Brat.
  23. Two questions: Most agree that the unequal lengths of the Y-pipe coming into one exhaust pipe create the Subaru growl. I believe McBrat had a dual exhaust with crossover which worked well. Did it sound like a Subaru or just like any other 4 cylinder? The Y-pipe still seems to be the best choice for keeping it tucked up out of harms way and having adequate scavenging. My question has to do with conventional headers for inline or V configuration motors have equal length runners into the collector. VW flat fours did they same. Is an EQUAL length Y-pipe possible, and would there be worthy gains across the RPM spectrum? thanks, r/ PK
  24. "... whadayamena I didn't qualify?" *(&^%$#@#! That's okay - Oregon only has six-character license plate anyway - OZIFIED won't fit. I haven't looked WA because I'd have to work a deal or buy Zap's Imp. For now, I'll remain a smart dumb rump roast
