Hello All, I reckon this be true, but it's always good to hear it from more than one person: I am looking for newer carpeting for my '82 Brat, so... is the OEM carpeting the same for Brats and Hatches - Yes/No?   4. Hello All, I have an 82 Brat with the 1982 trans' lower geared 3rd and 4th gears which I want to keep. I also have the smaller 200mm clutch. I read I can bolt in the larger 225mm flywheel and then use the bigger PP and clutch. What is it about the throw out bearing - and does all this work with the 1982 trans? I read the input shaft on the 1982 transmission is smaller? Do I use the old throw out bearing or new one - or what else? thank you, r/ PK.
  5. 12" ? With no power steering, I was thinking of at least 14" (365mm) wheel. I though McBrat had a 13" which took a little muscle. Opinions on size? (keep it clean) r/ PK.

  7. I know a few of you have installed nice steering wheels. What adapter is used and who sells it? P/N? Do we use a 3 ,5 or 6 hole/bolt wheel?   8. Hello All, I have searched but don't have the complete detail of what I want. If someone could point me to relevent USMB threads, I would be most grateful. Situation is I want to switch transmissions between my: 82 Brat with 4 speed D/R 92 Loyale with 3AT part-time 4WD Desire to put the 3AT in the Brat, and the 4 speed (or get 5spd) in the Loyale. Don't condemn me for the blasphemy, I just need an AT Brat, and a DR wagon. Unanswered questions: 1. Do I need a lift kit to get the AT under the Brat? 2. Should I ditch the 4 spd and get a 5 spd for the Loyale? (driveshaft?) 3. Will an EA81 pedal box fit to an EA82, and vice-versa? 4. Do I need to buy an EA81 torque converter or will the EA82 fit? or can I switch flywheels too? 5. What am I forgetting - I have both complete vehicles, so any part that needs to go to the other is available. Thanks in advance, r/PK.
  9. Qustionable - look at the tire spec chart: http://www.itptires.com/tirereference.html * Suggested air pressure is five (5) PSI !!! I dunno what 2500 lbs will do to them - squishy and popping beads all day. (PK apologizes for raining on parade) ...but then, Jerry's coworker is using them - need to talk to him for sure..
  10. Hi Jerry / All, I have 9 kits in work right now - 2 spoken for... and a special project. I will come up with some numbers but some people still want the old 4/3 kit, some the 3", some want the kit with shocks, some without, and some want the horseshoes still like yourself to use your new KYBs, etc, etc. I will re-post in a couple days with some possibilities- but a group buy needs everyone to want the same configuration to make it effective. That is why we are moving to the 3.5" kit. (Eventually we will run out of our pre-cut supply for the 4" and then only offer the 3.5"). Thank you for the suggestion. r/ PK

  13. If your CO was okay, then I thought high NOx was directly related to a failing catalytic converter. I know I had to replace one Y-pipe with cat and the numbers went so waaayyyy down. My $0.02, good luck. r/ PK
  14. Old 4-lug VW are 130mm. I pondered that one might be able to oval aluminum wheels 5mm out on each hole for a fit to 140mm - but those wheels are pricey (even used) and you need to be accurate to keep centered. Close but no cigar. r/PK
  15. Theoretically, (like GD said) you should be able to compress the shock and axle angle the same as the angle if fully extended, hanging the axle in the air. The rear torsion should help stop extended travel as well as the shock. Bump stops could be added (2" would be fine) to limit compression travel, but I dont think that angle is ever more than the extended angle with the BYB kit keeping static neutral. My shock research concurrs with Brian AND the fitment for 1995 Buick Roadmaster is similar but with more travel availalble. *** double check before buying. I have a set for my Brat, but they're not installed yet - lift kit on floor in garage. New EA81 kits have shocks not horseshoes,... seems a better solution. r/ PK.
  16. Brian, This happened to Zap on one of his five kits, lol. I dunno, maybe once in a while the Subes are weird, so now I ship longer bolts for those four and include extra washers to ensure they fit all. I have some 140mm bolts I can get to you in a couple days. Sit back and have a beer, and I'll USPS Priority them to you. r/ PK

  18. Hey Brian, They look good. Maybe pop them in the oven at 250-300 for an hour each. Like it's not hot enough up there now, that you need to run the oven all day, lol. Hopefully, It won't bubble the paint, then it'll be almost as good as powdercoat. Got your PMs - Thank you a ton!!! r/ PK
  19. Hold on a minute, Negative offset wheels have two disadvantages. First, they may be okay going straight, but your turning arc has dramatically increased versus stock offset - so you will be hitting fenders and probably the floorboard. You can't really trim the floorboard. Second, you wheel bearings wear faster. You should keep as near to stock offset to allow bigger tires without hitting body parts. Stock late model Nissan and Mazda have 14x5.5 and 14x6 steel wheels... and I think even Ford Rangers. Good luck, r/ PK.

  22. A possibility may be as I have run across two EA82s that had "recon" motors. Their trouble was some mechanic used a JDM turbo block with low compression ~7.5:1. Car ran like a top but no power. Check cylinder compression. Good luck.
  23. will be a little longer - sorry. I have voluntarily transferred from MCAS Miramar to MCAS Camp Pendleton (where the real Marines are) for a career change. Looking forward to the challenge and quality of life move. On another note, I found a '92 AWD Loyale with only 68k miles - should be mine in about 14 hours - woohoo!   25. Just an FYI - rat/mouse nests and poop droppings need to be cleaned out with safety measures because of the potential for disease or virus. Use facemask and gloves and use disinfectent. Here at our Marine base in our oldest buildings (circa 1940's), when they find such, especially old dried poop, they close it off until a hazmat crew cleans it out. r/ PK
