  1. you see everybody... its a perfect balance... we USMBers get the garage space and they get the closet space... except for the girls on the board... then it must just gets dirty... even if the guy isn't into soobs i don't think he would care much for closet space... eh... use the closet to store more parts... cam shaft and spare y-pipe beside your tie rack...
  2. i have learned that every soob guy/girl can recognize soobs using there eyes... but i have recently picked up the ability to recognize sound... i have used it on many occations and most times i just catch the back of it... i just hear it while i am walking home... do i have a really weird ability or is this normal??? it must be normal!!! soobs make the best engine noise ever!!! well the rotary engines make a cool noise... but i like the soob sound better... every time i point out a soob everybody looks at me funny because it would be a old rusty wagon or something... one time a ferrari passed me and i glanced at it but then i saw the gl hatch behind it... it made my day!!! so ya... no way my mom or dad is seeing this... its to much fire power for them...
  3. i got a set of those center caps... but no wheels i'm afraid... anyway... keep on searching... i'm pritty sure i have seen a set of those on the board somewhere...
  4. when i got mine it was running rough... i just replaced the filter, dizzy cap, rotor, spark plugs, spark plug leads and then reset the timing and it purred like a kitten... and since it was sitting for a long time do what the other guys said... oil change, new gas, and clean the carb... my carb still doesn't run right... good luck!
  5. you have to get a bar to go across the back... if you don't you will compress your spine every time you go over a bump and eventually you will f**k up your back really bad and won't be able to turn your body... but it looks really good!!! have fun!
  6. thats cool that you drive it to work... i would love to have a sweet brat like that to drive to work... what kinda fuel economy does it get??? sorry... it seems that i am hyjaking your thread... won't do it again... i promise!!!
  7. sweet pics! its kinda clean though... you drove that brat to work! you don't use that brat as your daily driver do you??? hope you get mud soon...
  8. i have yet to get insurance for my 79 brat because i don't have my licence yet but i got a quote on what it would be for me... it came out to be 1900 a year (160 a month)... this it for 1 million liability and 200 theft and whatnot... i feel ripped off personally... my parents pay something like 1200 a year and they get full coverage... its ageism i say!!!
  9. i would like a set... but i need a good driverside seatbelt first... the spring mechanism is gone... is that fixable or do i have to get a new seatbelt??? in any case if anybody could help me remedy this problem it would be great... then i will buy the covers... thanks!
  10. hey! those thingmies are on my 79 brat and they p*ss me off!!! if you can find a way to disable them i would love to find out... good luck!

if you want to keep your car in this continent then i would definatly go with john... he owns his own subaru shop so i guess he does contract work... at the moment he is the only person i will let do actual work on my car... i got a clutch job done at school and they broke stuff... like my flywheel bolts... who would have though you couldn't torque a flywheel bolt ot 140ftlbs??? and he didn't just do it to one... he did it to all 8! stupid kid... anyway... i would go with john!!!

  13. i'm just curious about this but that guy who crashed(sorry i don't know his name)... did his airbags deploy??? i would think they should have but i didn't see it... thanks
  14. welcome to the board!!! i'm pritty sure that any tranny from that year will work as long as it isn't a turbo tranny... or if you have a turbo(you didn't say so but just in case) you need a turbo tranny... i don't even know if they are different but i am pritty sure they are... i think the years are from 81-86??? i would need clarification but i think thats right... good luck!
  15. legasy777 is right... fly by wire doesn't mean the cops can make your throttle not work... what your thinking of os something like "fly by wireless"... i have only seen this on one car and it was a concept car... although the throttle thingmy won't exist for a while we still have disablers like on-star and what not... they can stop your car right???
  16. i haven't tried the tightening thingy stupidru said but it sounds bang on! i did a clutch change and some tranny rebuilding a few months ago but i haven't been driving it(because i got no licence!!!!)... so tonight when i get home i will give it a whirl and see how it turns out... for a stupidru you sure are smart! thanks!
  17. no it is a EA71... i would think that the direction does matter... go with me on this one ok??? so if you ahve the rad fluid going from bottom of the heater core to the top of the heater core wouldn't it be harder for the fluid to go up then it would for it to flow from top to bottom??? if it really doesn't matter then it is probably just a bad seal... if thats the case i will cut a little off the end of the hose then put it back on and make it extra tight... dunno if this matters but when i turned on my heater i got heat but when it started to leak it lost heat... if anyone has a good pic of the same spot on the engine that is in my pics then please show me... i would like to compare... if anyone thinks of some other way i could be wrong then please say so... thanks...
  18. ok so i have located where it is leaking from... i started it just like you guys said and have a look see...well nothing exploded... and i think i am right... it is coming from the heater core hose... i think i might have them mixed up... here are some links to pics... i don't know if they work so stay with me on this... http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/598578 thank,
  19. ok so i was driving my 79 brat up and down my driveway because it is fun:rolleyes: (my driveway is very long and i don't have my licence yet so i was trying to entertain myself) and i go to park the beast and as soon as i finish i see a streak of radiator fluid on the driveway... so i got out while the car was still running and popped the hood... i take a look and nothing is spraying around my engine compartment so i look under the car... there i see drips coming off my bash plate and then i see a steady stream coming off the plate... well this is when i desided to turn the car off!!! dripping stopped so i went in and took a look see at my engine... i checked all the simple stuff first(rad hoses, radiator, rad plug, overflow) non of them were leaking... so i had two ideas... first the heater core hoses... i pulled my engine a while back and when i put it back together i guessed which hose when were(for the heater core)... it seemed to work so i thought i got it right... but i don't think its the hoses... it seems to be coming from the block under the alternator... so i think i am going to have to replace the seal for the head... any other ideas anyone can think of??? something easier to fix???:-\ do i have to pull the engine to get the head off??? what else do i have to do to fix this??? thanks!!!
  20. i was wondering about the hill holder thing... is it on my dad's 01 legasy wagon??? if so how do you use it??? what cars did it come on in the 80's??? are they on all models??? thanks
  21. ya thats what i was thinking... what are they affraid of??? UHHH OHHH!!! NOT PICTURE!!! they don't want other people seeing there inventory!!! hehehe but really whats it for???
  22. why aren't you aloud cameras???? is this a normal rule for junkyards???
  23. ok so my dad 2001 legasy needed a new clutch so he took it to our local fountain tire guys... dunno which one he went to... ok so it usually takes a couple of days to do because they usually ahve more then one customer... it was done in a day and we got it back... when we got it back it ran ok... we went for a ride and noticed it have a clicking noise when then engine was under load... we were like, "thats not right!" and went home... i opened the hood and took a look to see if it was something simple... my dad wanted me to check the tranny fluid level(i tried but it is a manual and they don't usually have a tranny dip stick... is therre one???) well there were many simple things wrong... first the main battery ground wasn't connected!!!! fools!!!! i checked the secondary to make sure it hadn't melted under the load... second there was about a liter to much oil in the engine!!! ok so i was just putting this out there for you all.... any thoughts on the ticking??? thanks
  24. that thing is sweet! the tail lights are cool... gives it a good look.. it looks like one of those rhino buggies from australia... an i right??? i was looking into getting one... well looking into how much fun it would be to have one. i just don't have the extra $2500 or whatever it is... if it is one of those rhino buggies did you just buy the plan or the whole frame??? have fun with it!
  25. even though a OBS was smashed, this is a great learning experiance for us all... when the road turns... TURN WITH IT!!! nah... just joking... hope it turns out good as new!
