Zefy replied to captainkettel's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
ooooooo! parts!!!! welcome to the board! to bad i don't really need any right now... i have things that i want but nothing i really need... do you have 79 brat parts??? like seatbelts for box??? or maybe a 4speed shifter nob(my bro almost broke off my shifter trying to find my non-existant 5th gear!)??? maybe a role-bar and/or a-bar/brushguard something besides the stock bumper??? thanks, -
mine doesn't work at all... and when mine did it also wobbled... i took out the cable and the tip was covered in tranny fluid or grease or something... that normal??? i tried to take the cable out of the guage cluster but i couldn't... got any ideas??? just a side not but when i bought my brat the inside had this foam padding stuff everywhere and it crumbles and brakes off and it gets all over... is it suposed to be there??? or can i just rip the stuff off without worry???

i am very confused so any help would be great... ok so when when we are driving down the road in my dads manual tranny 01 legasy wagon it make a sqeaky noise from the back of the car... it only happens when i am accelerating in any gear and only if i am really putting on the gas... not if i am just slowly accelerating... like when i was driving to whistler in the sea-to-ski highway i am stuck behind a dink in a civic who drives really slow in the turns but when the straights open up with passing lanes he/she floors making it hard to pass so i floor it even more and cruse on passed him/her... but it also happens when i am stopped at a light and speed up fast to get up to speed... ok so now i have told my story i will give you a little background on exactly what happens... so it doesn't matter what gear i am in and only happens when i accelerate... as soon aas i shift out of that gear it stops... rpms don't seam to matter because it usually happens from 2500 to 5500rpm... i don't ussually bring it up to 5500rpm but i was testing to see when the sqeak would happen... my dad thinks it has to do with torque but i have no idea... i don't know if this matters but it has 115k km on it and the clutch is going(me and my bro learned to drive on it so the clutch didn't last as long as it normally would) nothing actually happens (ie. a clunk, grinding, rattleing) just a sqeak... has anybody else had a similar problem? thanks all,

Zefy replied to AKIRA's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

when i was working on my car and getting the broken fog light off i disconected the fuse so i wouldn't kill myself with expoding halogen bulbs or anything... so to make sure i put the key in and turned on the lights to make sure there was no power... ok so out of habit i pop the hood to get to the wiring and lock the door behind me:banghead: i get them off and think of what a great job i did after using the wiring from the fog lights to go to the reverse lights(they didn't work because i didn't put my tranny back together right... i think... my speedo doesn't work iether)... so i go to test the reverse lights when i notice i have locked my keys in my car... so instead of getting the spare set from my auto teacher i desided to avoid him because i owe him $300 and didn't have the money at the time(i payed him and he was happy) so i get one of my car buddies to use a coat hanger to get it open after trying many different keys in the house(hey you never know what might work!) and got the door open after a half an hour... did you know there was a little bar stoping people from putting coat hangers down the side of the window seal? anyway we got it open and the door opens and close just as it should and it locks from the unside still but now my key doesn't work:( ... i made sure it wasn't just stiff and put a little pressure on the key... i bent the key:o ... so now i have been going over to the passenger side door and opening it from there... this is starting to annoy me along with the fact i don't have a working starter and role start every time i wanna go out:mad: ... if anybody knows how to remedy any of these problems i would love the help!

Preview pic of EA-82...9 yr old daughter built
Zefy replied to brat86's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
thats amazing... when i was 9 my dad only let me hold the light... he would say things like "i don't know son... i think i should do it.":( i am 16 now and he won't even let me do a brake job on his car... he would rather pay 300 bucks or whatever it is to get a shop to "do it right" whatever that means... i feel neglected... hehehe... have fun -
maybe i should do the same thing to my brat... except with a Canadian flag:banana: what you people think.... eh?:-p

it definatly has a EA71 in it... the only way it would have a EA81 in it is if they swapped it out... doesn't look like they spent a lot of time on modifying it is it must be an EA71 have fun owning a gen 1 Brat... good luck getting it... -

yes it is my brat that sat in your yard for a few days! well i haven't done anything to the car yet as a mod(i plan to keep it stock... daily driver) but i have replaced the clutch and took of those fog lights that were bent to h*ll... i broke the starter to so i am scrounging money for that(100cnd through napa with a employee discount... my friends employee discount) when i put the tranny back together my speedometer doesn't work. had to replace a seal...(gotta work to pass the inspection... any ideas?) i got a set of 74 sport mags on the way depending on mcbrat and his abilities to reply to e-mails... thinking about a weber, exaust, role-bar... all of this stuff seems dreadfully off topic(sorry) but i don't really know how to use this forum... but i was planning on getting John to help me out wih this stuff and fabbing a role-bar... see! see! i trust him enough to make me a role-bar that will save my life for when i role my car! hehehe nah... i won't do that! John is great!
-
i think John is great! i was looking to buy a brat up in Canada here (there are something like 3 brats in B.C including my own) and he hooked me up with one... i had been looking for months before i found John. i hadn't come up with anything... i phoned him and the next day he had a car that i could buy! he even sent up some parts for me that i needed in a hurry and something like 4 days later i had my car up and running again! i even phone him up if i don't know something and he spent half an hour talking me through the process... he is the best car guy i know,

hi all, i was wondering what tires would be best for my gen 1 Brat??? something good in snow, mud, gravel... i have a set of sport mags hopefully going on my car and i wanted nice tires to go with them... what is the biggest tire i can fit on my 13" wheels with no lift and with no triming??? thanks
-
2001 legasy wasn't very good you say.... my dad has been driving his and it hasn't even needed a real tune up(110k km on it) it only went in to the shop for a real problem is when my bro got t-boned and the whole passenger side was smashed... but funny enough you couldn't tell anything was wrong from the inside... good safety...

this is a link to a calculator that will tell you your speedo change for every mod you can think of! http://www.subarubrat.com/Calc.htm

ok from what i have heard 4WD, FT4WD, and AWD are all different... 4WD is (duh) is you switch it on when you want it... AWD is always active and will change whenever you do something, even when you turn it will switch power to the inside wheels providing more power with less rpm... FT4WD is not always active! in normal conditions it will only you the front wheels... it will only turn on the 4WD when one of the wheels starts to slip like on ice... sound good??? (i just like this banana)
