  1. I have a Heavy Duty universal CV/DOJ boot that I got out of the JCWhitney catalog....I'm not sure about the heat, but I got mine to be used in the rear DOJ's where there is a little more telescoping force (from the lift) and these allow for more play. They're great, and I think cost the same as a NAPA boot kit!
  2. yea, the 'one piece' ones I'm talking about are three tubes, with pieces between them to tie them together.... unless he EA81 one's work differently....I'm not sure
  3. that's the size I'm running....you'll definately need some pounding...but not to much....and you'll need to remove your front mud flaps
  4. AA's got horrible camber problems?!?! Whew...I'm glad to hear that before I spend all that money on a kit and drive thousands of miles on a car with bad camber.....
  5. Do you have the three individual blocks? or the three blocks tied together? I've been running the individual blocks since I put in the lift (AA sent me the other ones, but I just haven't had time), and now it's falling apart... I think SJR's making a hole new Radius Rod that doesn't need a block....but don't quote me there...
  6. it's in the process of happening to mine I'm not sure what I'm gonna do, I have very limited tool access before I have to drive to myparents house for Xmas....
  7. it all depends on tire size....I ran 15"s on my unlifted '85 wagon for quite awhile...but I think they were 225 50's or something, turned out to be shorter than stock overall....just a bit wider I say go with the extra inch
  8. you did get one piece tranny xmember/radius rod blocks didn't you? I think that's what they're using all the time now.....I didn't upgrade mine right away and am paying the price
  9. what? like this?? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/data/500/3242P1010184.JPG http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/data/500/3242P1010193.JPG http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/data/500/3242P1010194.JPG hehe....lo range RWD....front ebrake.....hehehehe
  10. This is what I was thinking.... I don't think it's the throwout bearing, since the cables (HH too...) are probably origional, and the throwout bearing is less than 1k miles old....but it's been in there long enough to make me suspect that it wasn't an installation problem alot of great ideas here, thanks! and yes, I've ordered a new clutch cable from the dealership near my parents house (MNSubaru club discount!), and will just replace it when I have access to a garage....but it's too dang cold/snowy to be doing repairs outside if it can be avoided....
  11. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36456 he's got some really good pics of the leaf mounts
  12. That's a good idea! That's part of the reason I use my nickname in the real world as my board handle....I answer to Numbchux (or just chux) faster than I do to my given name, Matt
  13. What should I use to lubricate my clutch cable? When it's super cold, it won't work....the only way it will engage is if I manually pull on the lever on the tranny...makes it kinda hard to get to school.... anyway, I thought maybe just spraying WD-40 might work, but I'm not sure...ideas?
  14. it's perfectly safe....just keep in mind (I didn't see where you're from), if you've got snow/ice, you've only got RWD....so be careful. But you won't hurt the car, I've driven my car hundreds of miles, at freeway speeds, in RWD because of failed front axles (I had some issues early this summer)
  15. yea....TCat's had a lift, and 6-lug yota alloys on it
  16. why's that? for along time, before I actually got around to taking off the y-pipe etc. I just took out the bolts, worked fine. I carried the bolts so I could put them back in if I wanted to...but never did...so I took of the whole bar I bet you could just do it on one side....for the same results....
  17. This is VERY interesting! as my car's shocks are probably origional (220k+ miles), and are quite worn. The freeway ride is kinda scary, and I bottom out too easy off-road. I wonder if doing a mod like this would help?! Vanislru? I assume that's why you did it? what'd you think, from an off-road perspective.
  18. hmm....let me give it a try....I too am sure I've missed some (most likely from MW3) Snowstormer Austin TCat MorganM Archemitis ElcaminoKurt McBrat Syrinx Chef Tim Vickaroo Eyesore Dynapar oh yea...and the 2 that don't actually have subs...but are members anyway TheJeepGuy LittleRed I think that's it....
  19. It's a stock option. I think it came on all GL-10 wagons...maybe just turbos. I got mine from someone here in the marketplace. I bet you could find someone either parting out a car, or just posted a wanted thread.
  20. still some unanswered questions..... i won't commit any money until I have at least a couple answers btw...I'm not mounting my lights under the bumper
  21. Yep....rocker fell off....it was a cold, and miserable job....but last night I pulled the cover off....and one of the rockers came off with it. lined 'er up...and now she runs like a champ (and loves deep snow....who'd'a thunk?).... guess the cams are the same!
  22. MorganM used to carry his on his Thule roof rack....just wrapped a bungy cord around it and the crossbar...worked great. I don't think he kept it on there all the time though, just for trail rides. here's a pic of us at camp for the Crawl 4 the cure....look on the roof of his rig: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/data/709/513camp_01-med.jpg
  23. again...unfortunately, my knowledge of what the cylindar numbers just complicate my description (although I still had #1 right....and the firing order) I do realize that the valve cover is easy to pull off...unfortunately it's been snowing for about a day straight, and I don't have a garage. But if that seems to be the general concensus....I'll give it a try. I think I'll also put the flywheel on TDC, and pop the disty cap off....maybe that will reveal something.
