um....just no...same idea, in that they're small, efficient, etc. but they're not the same, in any way (as far as I know...please correct me if I'm wrong)

Front diff interchangeability: The true answer
Numbchux replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I thought the consensus was no....but that little winking smiley makes me suspect otherwise.... did you find a way to lower your final drive?! -
just dont go in the mud....torn boot + mud = broken CV....right now!
-
I don't mean to be rude....as I like to see new people as much as anyone here....but open your eyes....it seems like there are more lifted soobs (of any gen) here than unlifted! Welcome, There's a TON of great information here, but if you can, try to avoid asking the question that's been asked and answered hundreds of times.... if you can't find the info, then, by all means, ask!

I have a Heavy Duty universal CV/DOJ boot that I got out of the JCWhitney catalog....I'm not sure about the heat, but I got mine to be used in the rear DOJ's where there is a little more telescoping force (from the lift) and these allow for more play. They're great, and I think cost the same as a NAPA boot kit!
-
yea, the 'one piece' ones I'm talking about are three tubes, with pieces between them to tie them together.... unless he EA81 one's work differently....I'm not sure
-
that's the size I'm running....you'll definately need some pounding...but not to much....and you'll need to remove your front mud flaps
-
AA's got horrible camber problems?!?! Whew...I'm glad to hear that before I spend all that money on a kit and drive thousands of miles on a car with bad camber.....
-
Do you have the three individual blocks? or the three blocks tied together? I've been running the individual blocks since I put in the lift (AA sent me the other ones, but I just haven't had time), and now it's falling apart... I think SJR's making a hole new Radius Rod that doesn't need a block....but don't quote me there...
-
it all depends on tire size....I ran 15"s on my unlifted '85 wagon for quite awhile...but I think they were 225 50's or something, turned out to be shorter than stock overall....just a bit wider I say go with the extra inch
-
you did get one piece tranny xmember/radius rod blocks didn't you? I think that's what they're using all the time now.....I didn't upgrade mine right away and am paying the price

This is what I was thinking.... I don't think it's the throwout bearing, since the cables (HH too...) are probably origional, and the throwout bearing is less than 1k miles old....but it's been in there long enough to make me suspect that it wasn't an installation problem alot of great ideas here, thanks! and yes, I've ordered a new clutch cable from the dealership near my parents house (MNSubaru club discount!), and will just replace it when I have access to a garage....but it's too dang cold/snowy to be doing repairs outside if it can be avoided....

That's a good idea! That's part of the reason I use my nickname in the real world as my board handle....I answer to Numbchux (or just chux) faster than I do to my given name, Matt -
What should I use to lubricate my clutch cable? When it's super cold, it won't work....the only way it will engage is if I manually pull on the lever on the tranny...makes it kinda hard to get to school.... anyway, I thought maybe just spraying WD-40 might work, but I'm not sure...ideas?

Ditto....word for word Welcome!

Camo EA82 on I-405 in Bellevue
Numbchux replied to samo's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
yea....TCat's had a lift, and 6-lug yota alloys on it -
why's that? for along time, before I actually got around to taking off the y-pipe etc. I just took out the bolts, worked fine. I carried the bolts so I could put them back in if I wanted to...but never did...so I took of the whole bar I bet you could just do it on one side....for the same results....

This is VERY interesting! as my car's shocks are probably origional (220k+ miles), and are quite worn. The freeway ride is kinda scary, and I bottom out too easy off-road. I wonder if doing a mod like this would help?! Vanislru? I assume that's why you did it? what'd you think, from an off-road perspective.

It's a stock option. I think it came on all GL-10 wagons...maybe just turbos. I got mine from someone here in the marketplace. I bet you could find someone either parting out a car, or just posted a wanted thread.
