  1. I had that size on my BRAT, but it had a 3" lift, and still rubbed in the front a little when turning tight. They will not fit a stock BRAT, unless there is A LOT of trimming and bashing done, 2" will probably work, but still may need some extra room
  2. I checked them. The rubber is quite flexible, but they aren't broken. And it's a little more involved on this to change the tranny mounts as it is a custom mount for the 5 spd dual range swap.
  3. I consider them fine, because it does not feel like the axle. I drove it last night. I have had more bad axles than I could even count, and this does not feel like a bad axle, or sound like one. Like I said, it's hard to explain the symptom.
  4. Bearings and axles are fine. Definitely not either of those. It's hard to explain. Seems like something is loose, like a lift block, or a mount or something, but there is nothing loose
  5. I didn't do the work on that other car. There was a guy here in Maine that did. I have built rocker guards before though. I used to 1" pieces of tubing side by side welded together to span the length of the rocker panel, and then two pieces of C channel attached to them on each end going inwards, then those get welded to a long piece of C channel that gets bolted through the floor with BIG washers. They work great!!!!, very strong, protects the rockers, and looks pretty cool on a Suby. They kind of need to be built on the car to get them to fit how you want them.
  6. XT6 seats work great, need slight modification, but bolt in for the most part. And they are much more comfortable, and have height adjust!
  7. 185 70's or even 185 80's would work. I used to run 185 80's on mine before the lift.
  8. There are 2 versions of it. The EA81 version, and the EA82 version. The levers go in opposite directions to go in and out of 4WD
  9. Haha, the switch on top of the steering column? Congrats on getting it fired up!
  10. Was the virgin switch on?
  11. A lot of that depends on how you hook onto it. If you use a chain to attach to the motor, you can hook the engine lift hook onto a certain link and get the right "balance" But again, it really isn't that big of a deal, you can move the motor around pretty easily by hand
  12. No need for a leveler anyway. These motors are relatively light. There are a couple spots on the motor that are actually meant for lifting points. I personally wouldn't lift from the intake manifold, but that's just me
  13. So GD, do you have any knowledge if the SVX axles would click into the SS rear diff? Sounds like they have the same VLSD inside of them. Seems like the SS came with stubs to accommodate the "different" insides it has, and the SVX used male ended axles that were shaped a little different to accommodate this. So do you think if you popped the stubs out, that the SVX axles would slide in, and function/seal?
  14. Yeah I have this stuff all installed in my Forester XT actually. I am having serious issues with the axles. It seems like they are trying to pop out of their cups on the outer joints. It cause insane noise and vibration. I should add that they are just about completely horizontal with little or know angle because the Forester is lowered. I figured they would be better this way, but they are not. I wanted to upgrade to the newer style axles, but I guess I can't.
  15. I haven't had internet so I wasn't able to respond. Yeah I know it's a VLSD. So either way, there is a way to remove the stubs? I want to remove the stubs and use the newer style male ended axles.
  16. How do you remove the stubs from the rear diff of a 91 Legacy turbo? They do not have the bolts through the center of them like the older diffs. So do the just pop off like the ones in the tranny? Thanks
  17. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=87708&highlight=delayed+forward+engagement
  18. Yeah that seems a bit high to me for just an X. I paid 9500 for my 04 XT with 76k on it, and in great shape! But if you can talk them down, and then make sure the head gaskets HAVE been done, it might be worth it.
  19. Sounds like these guy have it covered! Just out of curiosity, where are you from? Like originally?
  20. What model Forester is it? Sounds like a decent price if it's an XT. And the XT didn't have the head gasket issues that the regular 2.5 motors have.
  21. It's built into the transmission, so if you have a car with no low range, you would have to swap in a dual range tranny. It's definitely worth it!
  22. This also depends on what vehicle we are talking about. What year and what model??
