EA81 What RPM should it idle at?
BobBrumby replied to cole098's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmmm my 90 brumby idles about 1200-1300 rpm when warm and thats the lowest it can go: there is still some adjustment left in the screw but the throttle cable plate wont go any further back. Does this mean its running rich, or sumthin wrong wif the carb? -
yeh wrecker told me that yesterday but thanks for the confermation

n00b rear diff question
BobBrumby replied to simpreza2's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
All the 3.9 means it that the engine has to spin 3.9 times to spin the output shaft once (or is it the other way arround?) -
yeh it has a 3.7 tag on the diff. And it has a 4 spd d/r gear box and wondering if they made this box in the 3.7 ratio? Cause maybe the Previous owner\s may have changed the diff but not other. I do believe they had an old ea81 wagon for a parts car, does this car come with 3.7 ratio? If it had a 3.9 box and 3.7 diff would it only "bind up" arround corners or also when driving straight in 4x4? I think thats most of it. Cheers

Does a 3.7 rear diff come stock on a 1990 brumby/brat?

hehe nice movie -
Well I dun have have an oxygen sensers so it looks like a non-feedback?!?
-
I want to kno weather my ea81 has a feedback carb cause i have been told feedback ones dont like having the emission stuff messed wif. Are there any key indicators. It is an Aussie 1990 brumby. Btw: I hav receptly dumped the charcoal canister and running the vac advance directly to the ported source. If I do have a feedback carb should i put the charcoal cansiter back on as to not muck wif computer?

If I were to buy an oil cooler adapter and a radiator meant for an auto could i put the engine oil through the auto oil cooler in the new radiator. BTW: my rad has a slow leak anyway so i need a new one soon anyhow

Vac Advance when engine is cold
BobBrumby replied to BobBrumby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
After I bought some vac line and opened the hood I realized that the vac line for the vac canister was disconected (must of forgot to reattach it like a week ago when i was playin). Could the situation I described in my previous post happen because the bowl on the carbi could not vent into the vac canister? -
On my brat I want to hook the vac advance on the disty directly upto the ported source off tha carb. The reason for this is when I stop and let the car cool down for a few minutes after being warmed up i think the vacuum valve closes (meaning no vac advance) and when i start it again the you can put your foot to about 3/4 throttle and hardly any acceleration and you have to floor it to get any accelleration. This causes the power to be kindof all or nothing so it makes things a bit jerky. After I drive it for a while I supose it heats up enough to open the valve and she feels normal again (not having to floor it to make it go anywhere). Why did the subaru tech's not want vac advance when the engine is cool?

calling General Disorder: removing shifter slop
BobBrumby replied to BobBrumby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeh the last person to try and fix it lost the metel innner sleeve from the shift rod that sits inside the nylon/rubber bushes (where it bolts to the shackle), lucky i had another shifter wif one under my house. i bought the bottom nylon thing that sits in the hole in the trannie but its rubber, not biggie. should be cuttin the shackle tomoro and if all goes ill have a tight gearbox by night fall . -

BobBrumby replied to BobBrumby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeh it easy as get it the gear stick out (one bolt) after you get the rubber thingy unscrewed and you can do it from easily from top. GD i got a question: Is the hole at the pivit point in the gear stick meant to be heaps bigger then the shank on the bolt that goes thru it? Cause this is where all the "up and down sloppiness" in mine comes from. And where you said there would be a split pin the is a bolt but i supose the previous owner didnot cut it when he did it. -
