  1. i could do the photo for an ea81 wif a holley 180
  2. I found this ute while looking through the byb fourum. http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v347/lewlew/ original thread: http://www.ausubaru.com/ausubaru/html/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=968 Ar she looks pretty sssssshhhhhhmmmicko. And I believe its full sti susspention\bakes aswell.
  3. While cleaning up my engine crossmember and mounts today I found that there is a bit of up and down play in the stubs where the front axles connect to the tranny. I have a spare tranny and its movement is almost nilch compared the one in my brumby now. Is there bearings you can change out or would it be easier swaping in a 4spd or possibly a 5spd:brow:? Also on the passenger side (your guys drivers side) there had been allot of oil dumped onto the x-member making an oil/dirt/twig mixture about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch thick. It was kindof wierd cause the other side was left relativly clean. Would most of this oil be coming from the oil pan gasket or something else? Yeh I dont think it is coming from the head gasket because the underside of the heads aint very oily.
  4. one con of suspension lifts is ur cv's are at a bigger angle and therefore wear quicker
  5. bad gas milage, rough idle, less responcivness,
  6. I guess none of yous have ever had to take off a bumper and the mounts and put it back on again. I was cursing the subaru engineers or days but then I realized how to do it.
  7. yeh you got it tim the t-stat housing has a hairline crack whole way thru cast and what do you know its right where the leak was:rolleyes:
  8. there just one more problem i have a small coolent leak from under the t-stat housing or where the uppper heater hose comes into the manifold but i am quite sure its the housing. I used a new gasket n all also used gasket cleaner and blade and got the surfaces realy clean before reinstalling it so it has me bushed. I might get some gasket sealer from REPCO and see if that solves it. You guys have any suggestions that doesnot involve removing the manifold if possible? By the way this is the second time i have put the housing back on and its just a little leak. My radiator hose clamp was also a bit loose but after tighening its still got a leak.
  9. As the title said i have put on my holley. The only big hangups that i had was the manifold that came on my brumby has a smaller hole in it than the one on the adapter plate so i had to use one of my spare manifolds and a coolent leak caused by thermostat fallin out in the process of bolt the housing down. It pretty much started first go. Also I forgot to plug a vac line and that caused dieselling for about 15 seconds. I have just turned 18 and my first real mechanicing with the help of my dad it only took about one whole days work. I have yet to take it for a spin. Another problem is i cant close my bonnet cause of the air filter. Also could someone explain how the air/fuel screw works and the tuning proceedure?
  10. from what i have read the main thing that kills older subes the most is overheating causing head warpage/head gasket problems or the bodies rusting out.
  11. yeh when my car is cold if you rev it up quickly then let if off just as quick you get this little pisssst like a b.o.v. but not as cool
  12. because this is the post for stupid questions, here is another. what does the oil rating mean? e.g. 75w90
  13. can anyone tell me what this emission thing in the pic does and should i remove it whem i add my holley 180. And btw I am gettin the linkage reversed on it on monday so the secondry will open more than half way . And with ea81 carbed inlet manifolds were there two differing sizes of hitachi base. And if so what years becuase the adapter i have is for the bigger throated one, would this be the same size as the one on my 1990 brumby.
  14. yeh and ofcourse the 2wd has no cv comming into the hub
  15. I have a spacer made out of black plastic from an old manifold that would let it open fully but then would i get problem wif the air clearner hitting the underside of the bonnet. do webbers only have fuel supply because my holley is like that at what pressure shold they recieve the fuel?
  16. I just bought a holley 180 sitting on a manifold for $200. There just one clearence problem I have with the "thottle linkage". When the carb is at w.o.t. the secondry is only partly open, this is because "thottle linkage" is hitting the manifold, some more clearance has be gained using a grinder on the manifold done by previous owner. Is this a problem u guys with webbers had? Is there a bolt in soltution or would i have to fab something up? I could take some snaps in the light of day if that could help.
  17. the spline count is how many "teeth" it has. from memory the turbo models ahd 25 and n/a had 23
  18. maybe the nutt has loosened off the 4wd selector that holds it onto the shifter, you will just have to remove the centre dash thing imbertweem the seats to check. i had this happen to me and i thought my handbrake was going on arorund corners oh but then it would be stuck in 4 hi, oh well have a look anyway
  19. I think i am going to get this holly 180 I saw on the byb site. It costs $220aus and thats with it already atacthed to an ea81 manifold and the carb has been rebuilt by a shop and jetted for an ea81. Also he said it has no choke but this did not matter as its never really ever that cold here. How much would you pay for a webber 32/36(rebuilt) + adapter + gaskets, does $220 seem resumble? Besides throtle plate slopiness what else should i look for so i dont get sold a lemon?
  20. Sorry for that last corny joke but i couldnot resist. I have worked out that the thing that screws into the lock and barrel is shot cause I can hot wire it every time if the keys where in the on position. I then tested across the permenent power connector on the barrel and the ignition wire, black + white, with a multimeter and sometimes i would get 0ohms and other time it would come on half or not at all. So that is my problem can you verify the name GD and how much would u guys expect to pay for one of these suckers? And btw do you have to drop the steering column to unscrew the two screws on the back of the barrell? Because the lock n barrel is attached to the steering column using two philips and two domed off heads one each side.
  21. cmon tomrhre plz fin some time. just count the wires please
