  1. wow, thats slick. wish i was that good at fabrication. or at least making my welds looks pretty.
  2. welcome back. always good to see new people around.
  3. not sure that ive ever seen a manifold with the sensor before the turbo, might be a custom build with the stock heat sheilds. all i remember though is that the stock manifold is anything but eficient. do you have any pics of the two manifolds?
  4. we should hang out sometime. if you bring out the lifted suby, i know a few places that we could go have a little fun.
  5. depending on how things go, i might be able to give you a place to hang out instead of renting a spot. its only like an hour drive for me to get to carlisle.
  6. when i was installing a cb antenna in my impreza, i found the remnants of a 5lbs bag of sugar under the carpet and center console. looked like it was dropped on the e-brake lever and poured down the passenger side of the inside of the console and under the carpet to where the seat rails bolt down. it was a solid rock of sugar, and yes, it was sugar.
  7. looks like the plug behind the headlight goes to the horn, which seems to be absent, and the other i think is not used, i want to say that it is there for a different washer pump./ resiviour. i think there was a version with headlight washers or something like that. on every legacy ive seen, that plug has been just hanging out.
  8. that would be great, i need at least 5 of the clips from the tailgate if possible, the rest seem to be holding up well so far. if the screws arent rusted up or mismatched, i could use those too. im not keeping the brat stock, but for some reason, part of me really wants to keep that part of it original and clean looking. funny considering that i dislike chrome on cars.
  9. the clips that hold down the bed trim on a gen 2 brat? i need to replce the clips on the tailgate since they are all messed up, all two of em, lol. the local dealership is rather useless, i might try another dealer, but id like to at least be able to figure out a part number or something like that. thanks
  10. at least hte kyb shocks are a better product than monroe.
  11. not in va, but close, i live in frederick maryland. most of my family lives around va though.
  12. thats the one i suggested, but take a peice of it to your local parts stoe and just buy like a oot of it, cut a peice to the length you need and keep the rest for when you need it again.
  13. wow, way to bring up an old thread, but it sounds like your leak might be the hose that goes from the thermostat to the top of the block.
  14. soo, ill bring the coffee, connie, you making breakfast?
  15. i definatly had a good time last year, i am going to make an effort to gettting signed up in advance this time around. maybe ill get lucky and get my brat on the road by then, im sure it wont be done, not by the standards i am going for, but it will be drivable and safe atleast. eh, it will either be the brat or my impreza. i guess ill have to get the mellon launcher bolted back up on the impreza for connie.
  16. this sounds interesting. i like the idea of better sways. keep us updated on your progress, and get some pics, i want to see this:headbang:
  17. sounds like stpr, the rally is held in northern pa every june, people travel from all over to see it. its usually rather wet and muddy, but soo much fun to see. i am hoping to get into an amature class one of these years and run that race, it would be fun.
  18. good luck, pity its all the way across the country.
  19. well, first off, take your time and practice on scraps before you attempt to weld in the car. if you are looking for an inexpinsive welder, there is a shop here in frederick called hg welding that sells a wire feed mig welder set up for about $300. looks like its a pretty well equiped machine, has wire speed, gas feed and heat controls and comes withthe gas regulators. i am actually going to get one as soon as i get some moenys. when you get around to cutting out rust, make sure you get all of it and when you make patched, dont try to cover the larger holes in one patch, use multiple smaller patches and take your time. also get weld through primer to coat the back sides of the patches so they dont rust out from the inside where you cant paint after welding. i would also reccomend talking to a local body shop or restoration shop, basically, find the hot rodders and talk to them about rust repair. good luck.
  20. where are you guys fnding 5spd tranies for $125-$150? the best price ive heard around here is about $250-$350 for the trans alone. i really want to find a full time 4wd dual range with dif lock like my friend has in his rx.
  21. wow, you guys got some super clean and organized yards. the yard i go to you are lucky if the car is on dry ground or above ground, lol. the yard i frequent i tihnk was once a farm about 50-60 years ago when the yard first started up, not they have thousands of cars quietly rotting away. hell, some of the car have been there so long that they have full grown trees coming up trough em.
  22. wow, one hell of a deal. i got my brat from another member for $350 since it had soo much rust in the floors. ive almost had it a year and i havent even driven it once . i am thinking that once i get my tax return, i might finally be able to finish it, or get a new welder anyways. keep us updated and take lots more pics. and nice lookin brat:grin:
  23. doesnt using a larger front sway tend to promote under steer? eh, i might be wrong, but best i can recall, upsizing the front leads to understeer and upsizing the rear leads to oversteer.
  24. thats odd, my rx was very nuetral handling. the only time it ever understeered was in snow if the wheels locked up.as long as the wheels were spinning, it was like telepathy, it went where ever i wanted it to without effort. now my impreza understeers in snow and rain like none other, lol.
