Where to find?
subyrally replied to simbey1982's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXthe best option for better braking in an impreza is to swap the front brakes for stock wrx brakes. i think the calipers are bit larger and there are more options as far as high performance pads and rotors. you can usually get a slightly used set for cheap on nasioc.com or ebay.

Where to find?
subyrally replied to simbey1982's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXit depends on the pads, ive seen some high end pads that are semi-metalic and dont squeal or dirty the rims. you have to remember, you get what you pay for. granted, i am under the impresison that the rear brakes are useless, mine are completely gone and the car still stops on a dime and makes change.

oil pan gasket replacement tricks
for the rear bolts, ive been told that you will have to jack up the tranny about 3inches to bring the engine off of the cross member. from there, you should be able to easily get to the bolts. i remember people saying that the torque specs on the bolts is very low, like 11-18 lb/ft. if you tighten them too much, it will leak and if not tight enough, it will leak. i think the best bet is to tighten it with a philips head screw driver. ill see if i cant find the post that mentioned the torque specs. ill also check my fsm.

subyrally replied to simbey1982's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXto use the vented legacy rotors, you will need to get the legacy rear calipers and brackets, trust me, they will not fit the stock calipers. last i checked, i think legacy777 was sellinga set of rear brakes. i would have bought em, but i had some financial issues. as for the roof vent, i think that rallitek.com might have it.

My 4WD wagon is suddenly FWD?
subyrally replied to Muppit's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXive heard a lot about issues with the 4eat tranny and the center diff taking a dump on em past 120k. im not sure if thats all the 4eat autop trannies, but, i have seen quitea few awd cars with dead center diffs. i really would like to see a mechanical replacememt for the electronic center diff.

EA82T to what? most easily (more power)
cometic makes metal head gaskets for the ea82 and ive been told that o-ringing the engine would help greatly with these engines.

Stock PSI on GL-10 Turbo Wagon?
doesnt look too bad at all. as for the turbo, im pretty sure that its set to run at 8psi, thats what mine has done with both engines ive had in the car. in theory, it should boost a bit more with simple mods, but as far as ive seen personally, in more than just my car, the stocker runs 8psi normally.

instead of equal length, try tuned length. the way thesse engines arelayed out, its easier to go tuned instead of equal. tuned is where one side is twice the length of the other, but it evens out the pressure like equal, just sounds better. that and you would have to make fewer bends. look at the borla headers for the ej22, its only a two pipe header, but its the same design as what im talking about. another ting you could di is to make a removable uppipe so that you wont have to make a new header or chop the new one if you decide to change turbos.

i would suggest that yourun two seperat pipes to a collector just before the turbo. that might just be mylikings though, im not a big fan of the stock style manifold, its not hte best design for flow.

In procees of taking RX motor out, RIGHT NOW, please help!!
hmm, when taking ot the lower bolts on the bell housing, i just got under the car with a ratchet and 14mmsocket. i think i useda short extention, but i didnt have to do anything special to get em out, just have to get the socket on the bolt and then attach the extention to it afterwards. i think thats how i did it over winter when i swaped out the engine in my rx. never had to pull axles or anyting, although, i will tell you that its a good idea to jack up the tranny about 2-3 inches.

Stock PSI on GL-10 Turbo Wagon?
the turbo in my rx runs at 8psi. hey, got any pics of the trueno? i always thought that was a cool looking car, i guess im partial to old school japanese cars. i still love my impreza though. do you have any other mods done to it yet? peace tim

Found a coolant leak!
that sounds about right, i think i even made the same statement when i was replacing the hose. ive noticed a few things on these cars that have made me want to go engineer hunting. there are a lot of little things that could have been easily done differently. hmm, anyone up fora trip to find the ea82 designers? give em a peice of our minds. either that, or convince them to hook us up with some go fast bits for not beating them stupid. hmmm, maybe ive said too much now, but the person that designed that hose routing should be hurt or made to replace it with out pulling the manifold.

more cooling system fun!
i might have a spare fan around here if you want to use it. ill have to go look for it though.

megasquirt&EDIS
id like something that has been pre programed and already has the connectors ill need for quick and painless install. i can wire stuff, but i am not good enough to wire up a new computer, that and i cant really solder well enough to be reliable. that and i dont want to try soldering to a componant board.

1.8 Normal Aspirated and Turbo Differences.
re wiring the car isnt really that hard, i had to rewire my rx when i got it, i had to pull out what remained of the original harness and replace the whole front end wiring harness. the only thing that was hard was getting the harness throught the firewall under the dash, and that was cause i am not the smallest person out htere. if you get acomplete harness, you just get it through the firewall and every thing will line up where it needs to go. as for the cross member, youll need the turbo unit due to the fact that hte turbo exhaust manifold passes over it instead of under like the n/a manifold. i say that you should try for it, its fun and a great learning experiance and you get to know your car even more, you get closer to it.

What's this part for? (EA82T)
mine ran fine without it, the only thing that didnt work cause of it not being hooked up was the boost light.

megasquirt&EDIS
maybe we can get together, well, get someone to buy and assemble the components for us, that would cut donw on some of the costs. the other way mentiond, buying the parts and sending em to the person to build it, would cost more than my plan due to more shipping costs. we could get together with who ever builds em, tell em what we want, give em the $$ and they could order the parts and assemble it, for a price of course. sound reasonable?

megasquirt&EDIS
id prefer having the whole mega squirt and edis set up premade and ready to just "plug-in". i dont want to ahve to do any construction on it as im not the best with electriacl assembly. that and im lazy and want to be able to get all in and running in as little time as possible.
