  1. if you go to pep boys or something like that, they have a maf adaptor in their "performance" section as well as t he universal cone filters, you will be able to come up with just about everything you need for like $40.
  2. i have 205/50/15 tires on my rx, granted i need to get fender flairs to cover the tires. they stick out about an ince in the front and a little less in the rear. i have em on 15" alloy pugs, which explains the offset and the tires sticking out on the sides. but it looks good and handles great. and 205/50/15 is just about the same as the stock tires in terms of diameter, just wider and lower profile. if you want to find out what will fir, check this out. http://www.eunos.com/tirecalc/tirecalcold.html peace tim
  3. i can survive without a/c, not that i enjoy the heat, but i can survive. granted, today is hot enough that i dont want to even go drive around town like i do when im bored. its around 97* as of like 10 minutes ago when i was out. now i remember why i like fall weather. as for the voltage drop, its most likely because the compressor's electromagnet is trying to engage the the pully to run the compressor.
  4. who needs a/c, neither of my cars have it, the rx doesnt even have the pump, lines, or anything from the stock a/c set up. just roll the windows down and drive fast, youll be happy that way.
  5. i remember replacing that hose. took a lot of patients, time and profanity. the hardest part is getting the hose to slide securely ove r the fitting under the manifold, then getting th clamp over it. and yes, needle nose pliers are your friend.
  6. ok, this is nuts, all you have to do for the coil is go to a store that carries universal perfromance parts, 9 outta 10 will have msd blaster coils, the work fine with the turbo cars.. and for plug wires, get the accel 8mm universal wire set, you have to cut em to length, but they are a nice set of wires and come in sets of 8 so you don have to worry about finding more wires for your next tune up. as for the ditsy cap, that is a hard part to get from a parts store. by the way, that blaster coil on ebay is going for $10 more than retail. the accell wires are like $30 or 35 for a box.
  7. its the seals on the tail lights, ive seen it in a few wagons when i used to work at a garage. you have to pull the lights out, completely remove the old seals, which is no easy task due to the stickiness of the material, replace the adhesive seal stuff and press back into the hole. you should be able to find the seal maker stuff at any parts store.
  8. try cleaning the maf sensor to help with the hesitation, im not sure of what else to check though as for lighting, look into hell driving lights or piaa driving lights. hella and piaa are sweet lighting systems, i just wish i had the money to put into proper lighting
  9. check the intake plumbing and breather hoses for oil in em, im not talking caked on old oil, but somewhat fresh wet oil. sounds like my last engine when i blew a piston ring. check all the engine fluids and try to do a compression test if you can.
  10. hmmm, you think maybe a cone filter might help out a little bit on the times your getting? i know you said that youve taken out hte plastic elbow from the stock box and done a k&n filter, but i wonder if maybe a cone filter would flow better.
  11. thanks for that, i might go for em if i get one of the jobs im after. but $104 each is kinda painful, but those look to be the closest to the level of the rubbe on the car now. thanks everyone. all my sources were from tuner magazines, its hard even finding 15" and 16" tires on some of those sites. now i just need to find some decent 17" rubber that i can afford for the impreza. peace tim
  12. the coopers look like they may be what i want, granted i was looking for a tire with a more sporty tread pattern like the yokos i have. it just sucks that they dont make me anymore.
  13. sounds like you unpluged the resistor for the injectors. was it a metal colored rectangular box on the front of the passenger strut?
  14. thanks guys, ill look into those coopers, they look pretty good. pity yokohama doesnt make the tires i have on it now, they hook up really nice, even though they are dry rotted and worn out.
  15. ive searched many a distributor and come up empty. i am looking for high performance tires for my stock rims on the rx. i am trying to find 205/65/13 or 205/60/13 tires. right now i have a set of 7 or 8 year old yokohama avs high performance tires that are badly worn out due to age, sitting for years and me doing fwd burn outs last year;). i cant find any 13" performance tires in 205 width. well, not for less than $100. so far the only tires ive found are racing slicks for $150 each. any reccomendations? or should i just get some cheapo tires to just get it through inspection when the time comes, then just stick with my 15" pugs from then on?
  16. from what ive gathered, you need to lift the engine about 2-3 inches to get to the rear bolts for the oil pan. thats the problem i am having with my rx, it has started to leak from everywhere lately. i need to get new oil seals, but i already have my oil pan gasket waiting to go in the car. good luck fixing your leak.
  17. thanks for the corection, i knew it started with the letter "i" but couldnt quite remember.
  18. last i checked, the baja is built on the legacy platform and everything on the legacy platform is made in idaho or something like that. i might be off on that, feel free to correct me if im wrong.
  19. i only want rwd cause i think it would be fun to play with, that and i really dont like fwd. besides, my rx doesnt have the diff locks or full tim 4wd, it had true dual range 4wd. i want to be able to play around with the car in dry weather with out geting drive line binding.
  20. im wondering if its possible to set up the tranny so that 2wd is the rear wheels instead of the fronts. that would be sweet in the rx. imagine being able to put the rear limited slip to use on dry pavement and not breaking stuff, then when the conditions get bad or you hit gravels or off road, you could still go ito 4wd hi and low. kinda like a truck but in fast car form. any one ever look into anything like this??
  21. oh yeah, the reason they arent suposed to put in more than 10-15% is that it gets into the environment and it also tends to eat seals and fuel lines or something like that. i think the stuff they use that effects the environ ment if they use too much is called mmt. or something like that.
  22. i am originally from va beach, but im in frederick maryland now, which would be on your way to carlisle.
