  1. welcome to the sickness that is subaru lol I used to be a VW head once upon a time (hence the s/n lol) and there are a few big guys here trust me cause I am 6'5" tall also and at about 260 and I have met a few that are as tall or taller than I that thrive here and for the exaust I would recommend not goin with 2 1/4" but 2" cause that will overscavenge the engine and prolly burn a valve or 4 and since you are a vw head you prolly also know a few tricks that can be used on the cheap or with little money in fact bug pack carrys a few things that can be used on a subie
  2. have you looked in your owners manual then? cause usualy they show bulb sizes in there
  3. unless your spinnin tires and lettin the tires smoke then yeah I would say so
  4. Yeah as Ken has mentioned try having your dad contact Richie at Superior Import Repair cause he knows what he is doing and also is a resonable price and it is a good idea to replace the timing belts and cam/front crank/oil pump seals while he is at it cause of you do have to dig through that stuff as it is to get to the waterpump
  5. Hey Corky I think he wants to be the underdog that beats the heck out of the WRX STi with something that is about 17 years older
  6. yes there is a recall on that stuff and all it is is a new pcv valve some rerouted lines and also the valvecovers get a box around the inlet for the pcv vent system also cause of when you are making a turn the oil will slosh to the outboard head cause of centrifical force and get ram fed into the pcv inlet and then sucked into the intake system then burned in the comustion chamber you also get a pinging sound also the trick I used to do with my 91 Loyale 5sp 2wd was when I went around those types of cloverleaf type turns is to dive in and then let off (basicaly yanking the wheel into the turn and then letting off the pressure) so that the turn is not as constant as just going around the turn because you are just making small turns with a very small straight run instead of a big turn
  7. well with the weber and exaust as being easy bolt ons is the ea-81 electronic disty from like 83-on and if you get a 2wd disty it will be even more of a performance increase
  8. looks good and I sure wish I could get some of those decals that are on the rear deck lid
  9. there isn't a slip in bed liner made for the brats and I wouldn't recomend it if there was one cause moisture can trap underneath that and make some big rustholes but the Rhino/line-x lining is a good choice and you can also get a DIY kit that is a roll in kit called Herculiner that works good for that in fact I am looking into that stuff when I redo the 76 for the underside and also the floorpan area
  10. welp had it replaced and the one that was installed the cd player doesn't read cd's it takes it in makes some noises like it's trying to read it and then just spits it out now to wait again for another cd player to be ordered
  11. why are you asking? if it's out just goto the dealership and they should be able to replace it under waranty
  12. well when it is perfectly adjusted all you do is on an uphill situation you push down the clutch and then mash down on the brake and it engages the hill holder it's sorta like a line lock and then when you let off the brake the car should stay put and then when you let off the clutch when starting the hill holder then disengages
  13. welcome to the board officialy lol and I sure wish my wife helped sometimes but since her dad wasn't very helpful with her when she did want to help someone she doesn't want to help anymore
  14. well for reference it's 7 miles ESE of Woodburn and 15 miles NE of Salem and Craig the reason why I know the hills is cause I used to live in Mt.Angel for 10+ years so it helps and my Parents still live there so free parking
  15. is anyone going to the Oktoberfest this year besides my wife and I cause it would be cool to have a sorta get together there and have some good food and drink and good times also.
  16. well I have had 2 83's now lol and one is a stick (I still have it) and has the Hill holder and man I love it sure wish my 04 OBS had it sometimes though
  17. k and ya never know heck for rallyX we are competeing(sp?) against stuff like a 1991 Mini Cooper and also someone has converted a early imp to wrx specs and stuff like that
  18. it is and that was the only year that had them too for the US and the only one in the states until the legacy's and outbacks started having them too
  19. k cool hope that does help and all talk if you click on my s/n it pops open a menu and just look at the public profile it has all my s/n's/#'s for the IM programs I use and alot of people need to go into their userCP's and change it so that it shows up in their profile
  20. well if your offering then I will take two cause I am gonna fiddle with making urethane bushings sometime soon
  21. as long as the locking bolt on the outside is still tight it will only drive out the inner splines and yeah just move it up a couple splines and it should lower it and if you want to fine tune it then undo the bolt and move the outer splines for a finer adjustment and oh yeah might scribe a reference line on the shaft and housing before you do this so you know how far you have went and also so you know where the stock placement is so that you can adjust it back to the normal ride height later on hey do you have a IM program so if need be we could just chat this thing over?
  22. okay my discount is 15% through grainger found the flexane and it's by devcon http://www.devcon.com/devconcatsolution.cfm?catid=14 here is the list of what they have and info about them and which one should I use? the 80 liquid or 94 liquid? here is what they have online http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/searchresults.jsp?xi=xi and not to get some extra motor mounts for the 76 and I already have the tranny mounts
  23. so let me get this right you knock out the inner splines while the rear is at no load and then lower the assy to the next spline? if so might go another 1 or 2 splines and see where it puts ya and also remember those bumpstops! they will hinder you and also look for any bind spots on the trailing arm and if you hit the bottom of the travel you might have to notch the trailing arm or whatever is touching to get the right amount of travel (that's coming from someone that has studied up on old vw's cause of wanting to do a baja a long time ago)
  24. GD the Leone name was from the 70's through till the Liberty (Legacy) and Impreza took over for the guys overseas heck I find it funny that companies like Jeep called their liberty over here a liberty and then call it the cherokee over in europe and various other places instead of just gettin rid of the cherokee here and replacing it with the liberty and calling it the cherokee over here also but still it's funny
  25. Willkomen to the board and yeah as GD has said there are plenty of Subies of your generations around here in these parts and also even older gen ones also but it is rare to find one with that low of mileage
