  1. yeah sounds like you should just look for a Carbed EA-82 that is willing to give up it's disty and see if it matches and as for someone that asked on this thread about why a Disty here is the answer: It is a simpler system that can be more reliable especialy in areas that have not very many repair places and also if your out in the Boonies and something goes wrong with the coilpacks your screwed and have to walk a loooooong ways to find someone (considering where you can go in different countries) but with a disty the thing will keep on going and if it has points then you don't have to worry about the electronics either to bugger up on you even though those Electronic disty's are reliable as hell. This comes from years with old school VW's and studying up on Baja bugs in general to make a very bulletproof baja which never happened considering I got into Subies in a big way
  2. you better make sure it says subaru on it cause it might be something different heck if need be since you are in Corvallis goto the OSU campus and goto the Japanese studies area and hunt down someone to make sure about this or even ask them if they can write it out in the traditional way that way that would look cool to cut and I might be even interesed
  3. for the doors check and see if you have play in the handles byt trying to pull up on them twist them a lil bit if they do twist they might be busted and you need to get new door handles. they happen alot on the older cars cause the handles are made of potmetal and have a tendency to break at the pivot point
  4. yeah we call them Sedans just a brain fart prolly and I was questioning that also but the fuel pump should be in the same area as the wagon though
  5. man if I could afford to I would do a package deal with one of the guys for the rims.... cause those would look cool with some rally tires on them on my 76 and man after looking at all those pics Especialy the 78 GL 2dr coupe it makes me miss my FE Coupe Sniff sniff I was stupid to get rid of it
  6. welp if I ever run across a set I am tempted to take them to work and turn them on a lathe to make them a 15 incher!
  7. ahhheemmm before 77 russ cause I have info for my 76 that the 2wd's came with the 71
  8. are they the same as the ones at rallitek's site? if they are I can even bug sean for a few but I did grab the smaller flyer types he had on hand and put one up at work considering the other ones are a lil bit too much for a family company and didn't want that one removed
  9. yep and here is a pic of my lil fleet thanks to andrew http://community.webshots.com/photo/63790003/172290702HdXGGl
  10. I like it too and where did you get that gen 1 emblem under the stereo and from what year gen 1?
  11. IIRC the computer is underneath the drivers seat for the height control and if you disconnect it the light will stop blinking unless of course you still have the height control then you have a problem with the computer that I just mentioned
  12. yeah this site has been helpful for alot of us and welcome to the board too bad I am not over there especialy in finland right now considering that WRC Finland is going on right now
  13. k well then look for a 85-86 vehichle doesn't matter what model and just yank the sucka
  14. another check is to check the oil for the "Chocolate milkshake" effect but it sounds to me that it wasn't "burped" properly so hope that all these guys info helps in any way
  15. k cause with those switches you pull back all the way and it's in a "passing light" mode which is basicaly a momentary switch for the Hi-beams and then if you push forward from the center position over a detent then you have switched it to Hi-beam constant but if your saying if you pull back from the forward position and it doesn't stay there then yeah it needs to be replaced and that is an easy one to find if you have a 87 or newer vehichle they are the same IIRC cause of the lighting switch is on the stalk with the hi-beam switch and turn signal
  16. yeah that is a First gen EA-71 and looks perty clean to me for internals compared to what I have seen with mikes endevors and when I saw a pic of the engine compartment I was thinking WOW what a clean engine bay! so things should be alright after you get the heads back
  17. well you are lucky to have a EA-81 car so all you might need to do is replace the fan belt(s) and if there is no sticker on the valve covers saying that the motor is a Hydraulic valve lash adjuster equiped motor to just adjust the valves if you have some sorta major leaks might also look into resealing the oil pan gasket, oil pump, redo the front main seal, when it comes time to do clutch rear main seal, and also the valve cover seals but other than that then cheers
  18. subyrallly have you pushed the lever forward? if so then ya need to get a new switch then
  19. Yeah the UK is still using miles but everything else is metric and images? hmmmmm well there is always finding someone that has the technology to convert it to our format heck with some people they just need the VCR that it was used for and run it into a comp and convert it in there and spit it out on the net lol
  20. hmmmmm I wonder if GT4 will have older subies.............. considering they are saying 500 CARS and 100 TRACKS!!!!!!
  21. well for me it would be great cause I have the 76 FSM and there are so many references to older FSM's that it's not funny in fact the References go back to the 72 FSM for most of it but also I would want to find a non US book for my ea-65 also!
  22. ok first off just out of curiosity where are you at exactly? the city name is not familiar to me so city and country would be helpful and now to the actual piece I had a 86 once that had some problems with the relays involving the connectors overheated and such and I tried replacing the light switch and learned that there are 2 different switches one with a white connector and one with a black connector and if you have the wrong one then you have problems with alot of stuff including IIRC having the problem you have mentioned but also to be on the safe side I think the relay with the blue connector behind the fuse panel is the HI-beam relay but I might be wrong but I do know that the connectors are also color coordinated to designate what it's use is for and the black ones are headlights IIRC been awhile but still make sure you have the right Lightswitch first and go from there
