bajavwnsoobnut replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
uhhhhh psssst it's 77 not 76 cause 77 was the same as the 76 untill half way through the year then it went to stage 2 and the 76 4wd never looked like the 75 (look at mine then look at skunkaroo's) -

hey tailgate if that 76 is still there can you look it over?????? PLEASE??????? you know how it goes for 76's and me lol -
the EA-81 tranny will fit in and the holes to mount the tranny mounts are there and should be tapped so it can be easily bolted in you will need the clutch cable from the doner car the linkage for the main shifter should work but the 4wd shifter might need to be modified a lil bit at the end to make it work but should be ok for the rest of it cause the holes are there for the shifter tent the 1800 will work just need to get the throttle cable from the doner too IIRC but all and all everything should fit

Looks good and yeah it looks naked without the "Targa stripe" as it is actualy called and I think mick (McBrat) is the one to get in touch with for a reproduction stripe if you want one -

USDM 1975 model year JDM 1972 model year Subaru started developing the 4wd tranny in 1970 and debuted it in the 1972 model year here are some cool pics -
Be on the lookout for a Dark Gold 76 4WD, has a black A-bar on the front last seen heading south on I-205 just north of Powell/Division exit and turning onto that exit yesterday if anyone can flag the person down and get info you get a cookie (or a beer or 2 pending on what I have lol) this has been the 4th 76 wagon that I have ever seen and the last one (besides the one I see everyday in the driveway of course) was over on Trask River RD near Tillamook with a for sale sign for $1000 firm at Oregon Trail rally time with some cancer but a almost perfect interior (1 rip in the drivers seat bottom) and also a rear bumper!
