  1. The rally is coming up in a couple weeks, let me know who can make those dates, 24, 25, 26 in Aberdeen, trying to get an idea who will be on board this time around. Thanks!
  2. The rally went well depsite the rain...several hundred people were in attendance. There were some good speakers presenting some of the challenges and successes. The link below will get you information on identifying yourself as a offroad user to your congressman. Numbers are the best way to get our voice heard so sign up today. The motorcycle community is somewhat leading the way in this effort but it affects all of us, whether you use outdoor/wilderness areas or not. Don't let a few squeaky wheels dictate what we can do! http://www.soundrider.com/Jan06/Clout.htm
  3. More event flyers...parking info, etc. Attachment 1: Codes Clout. final pdf.pdf (application/octet-stream) Attachment 2: Information Flyer. Final pdf.pdf (application/octet-stream) Attachment 3: Map Flyer.final pdf.pdf (application/octet-stream)
  4. Check out the event flyer in the above post for caravan information!

This has been a watershed year for trail access. While we have enjoyed the success of re-opening Straddleline Park, we have seen closures of both easy cruising rides at P-5000 and hardcore trails at North Fork. The ORV community is outraged and we are making ourselves heard like never before - different forms of off-road sport banding together for one voice THAT CAN'T BE IGNORED. WE ARE BEING HEARD. Be part of the solution. Come early to the RALLY on Friday February 3, 2006. Speakers begin at noon til 2:00 pm held at Capitol Campus, Olympia. For more information, contact 425-745-4010. Event flyer (560 K PDF) Event map (110 K JPG) P.S. - Rally routes through Olympia are shown on the attached map. All parking will be on Deschutes Pkwy SW which the WSP has set up for parking during this event. WSP will also be providing parking security. A shuttle bus, paid for by the organizers of this rally will be in operation for rides from the parking area to the Capitol and back. Submitted by: Marcus Erickson 1/23/2006 Top of page
  6. The next rally, Doo Wops is February 25-26, located in the Montesano/Aberdeen area. Shoot me a email @ ~ mark (dot) Mager (at) comcast (dot) net ~ if that date works and I'll send a couple updates between now and then.
  7. This has probably been posted but what the hell! http://www.faberit.com.au/rxrally/index.html
  8. You could pick up a STi center diff and put it in your trans, it wouldn't lock it but it would make it limited slip. You can get one for around $350 to $500 and they are small so shipable and not too difficult to install by a qualified mech.
  9. Zap, the ORV park planning meeting is tonight...it's likely any remaining dates (if there are any) will be grabbed up.
  10. I'm not worried about the ratio, I was just curious if the transmission from the Legacy will bolt up and work in the SVX, I can change the rear diff.
  11. Is a Turbo Legacy 4EAT transmission a suitable/direct replacement for a SVX 4EAT?
  12. As most know, our offroad areas are being closed at an alarming rate. If all offroad users don't unite soon and have our unified voice heard there will eventually be no public places for these activities. That leaves only privately owned lands and with litigation what it is today there isn't much hope there either. Weyerhaeuser and Simpson have locked most of their gates. The national forest no longer allows any non-licensed vehicles and has banned all off road travel. Many popular destinations have simply been closed. There will be a peaceful rally at the State Capitol in Olympia on February 3, 2006 from 12:00 until 2:00. Tom Fite from the Olympia Recreational Vehicle park urges attendance and he said he does have support from some key political figures. If there is a good showing we will get the attention of the law makers. Anybody that frequents other offroad, 4x4, motocycle or rally communities please share this information...see you there! Mods, can we sticky this 'till February?
  13. The AA site looks awesome and I'm sure it will garner due consideration. Lots of Subaru friendly amenities and willing owners (valuable!) Definately a good central location. Hood River was an adequate venue, seemed to work ok, mud pit, rally cross, indoor vender area, food. It was a little hot for the tents with not too many trees for shade. The Olympia/Thurston ORV park just re-opened, it was used before, I wasn't at the show but people seemed to like it. They are really pushing hard to book events to try and get the thing off and running to keep it open. The motorcylce, offroad and rally communities all came together about 6 weeks ago to clean it up and get it open. There are numerous trails and stuff there. The Shelton Fairgrounds worked pretty good. Keep the ideas coming, any recon we can do will save the organizers time and trouble. Definately not too early to start planning a big event.
  14. If this evolves into a summer trip, I would consider going.
  15. Let me know what you find out, I would like to call or drop in on him...
  16. Thanks guys, I'll keep in touch and keep you posted. The dates aren't all set yet but there are events about once a month from early March until the end of the year.
  17. I have a '91 turbo Legacy rally car and will run events in Washington Oregon and BC next year. The events are in early March, April, May, June, August, September, October, etc. I'm looking for Legacy lovers that would like to come out to the rally and help with service. I'm a low budget team but I guarantee to NEVER run out of beer. SO...just looking for a few people that have some car knowledge, would like to travel around and have fun hanging out with a bunch of crazy Subaru people (some other brands too) These events are a lot of fun (cars going down logging roads past old growth trees and spotted owls at 100+ miles an hour!)and there are a lot of good people to hang out with and meet. Let me know if you are interested...
  18. The 200SX conversion was smooth, not sure if I can recall the details now but here goes... I used 200sx calipers with the RX carriers, no mods, all bolt on. I got calipers at the junk yard and used them for cores for rebuilt calipers, the core charge was like $150! I used a Impreza or legacy e-brake handle and spaced it up of the floor to look stock in the RX console, the consle did require some trimming as the handle is a little fatter. If I recall, I used Impreza sedan cables from a car with rear disc brakes, the end of the cable is a bit different than the drum brake version. I checked the Legacy and Impreza and found a length that was perfect. I drilled a hole through the bulk head above the tunnell and ran the cables straight back through the bulk head and routed them right along the sway bar to the mounts, they go right in the mounts with little mods. The cable mount that bolt to the caliper did require some grinding to clear the axle. That's it, not sure how it would work with the 5 lug stuff, this is all on a 4 lug RX... Good luck!
  19. I received this mail today, a co-workers son is missing. Please watch for the missing Jeep around trailheads or anywhere. He started in Washingtn and presumed to be in Washington but could be anywhere, Oregon, Idaho, etc, etc. Thanks for your help... Thank you for your concern and offer to check out trail heads. It is hell to lose a kid. Yes, it was I who wongleflute heard on the radio. We found out last Tuesday evening that our estranged son hadn't been seen or heard from for 30 days. He is in the habit of going climbing alone without telling anyone where he is going, for how long and where he is leaving the car. That led to bad feelings between us, 3 years ago so he moved out. Now, no one has a clue where he is but I suspect he went climbing and is dead someplace. The key is to try to find his 1990 Red Jeep Cherokee. It is a little like looking for a needle in a hay stack. There are hundreds of trail heads in the Cascades. Since I wasn't getting any help from the Forest Service Police Departments or Sheriffs' Offices, I sent out an email barrage to the climbing community. Wow, within hours, my message was posted to all sorts of climbing web sites and the next day, Search and Rescue Departments were calling with offer to help. People I don't even know offered to help. By Friday night, every trail head in Snohomish County had been checked. By Sunday night, all of King County had been checked and half of Kittitas County and the North Cascades Highway. The King County Journal ran our story Saturday and I was on KOMO TV and radio Sunday and today. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of help. Today, I barraged the 4WD clubs in Washington and as soon as the snow gets deeper, I will contact the back country skiers and snow mobilers. My plan is to inform as many people as possible who will be in the hills anyway. If half of them know about the missing Cherokee, we have a chance. Bottom line is that I can't efficiently take you up on your offer now. But with some luck, I will be able to soon. In the mean time, if you are on a gravel road, look for a 1990 Red Jeep Cherokee, license number 421PDV. I think he is north of I-90. Thanks for you concern and offer, Jim.
  20. I did some research on this about 2 years ago...this from memory. The XT-6 PP is almost 100% more clamping power, I can check the FSM later but it seems like the EA82 unit is 800lb and the XT-6 unit is 1500lb, I might be way off on this... The difference in the step height was only 8/1000, I doubt this will make any difference, there is probably that much wear on a clutch disk at break in. Again, this is from memory, I'll try to confirm it. I put a used XT-6 PP and disk in my '88 EA82 F/I wagon with a stock EA82 flywheel and it works awesome, have not been able to make it slip...
