XSNRG replied to edrach's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Codrivers need a helmet too, they have loaners but sometime run short. I'd like to meet up with all USMB guys again, had fun last time. Last time was my first time so I'm a newbie too. It's alot of fun! Doesn't matter what you drive. Ed, can you haul James' hood in your Brat with the topper on? If so maybe you can pick it up on they way home? I'm in Tumwater. I have fenders and a moonroof for him too and a Brat gate for you:D -

What kind of wheels are those? They look different from the other EA81 4 spokes I've seen. Did yours have the grille guard?

Can anyone get me a Weber 32/36 shop manual?
XSNRG replied to Dr.Outback's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There's a guy that sells the Haynes version on ebay regularly, not sure if he still has, i got one there. -
Rob, let me know if you can't get them after Junkie (Thanks) made the changes, I can mail them. It's a cool car, would like to hear from Chef Tim and Subaru Bob on any info they might have about the history of these cars. Bob, you still have it?

I saw this the other day and stopped to take pics and talk to the owner. It's a '83 Black Diamond. On the front fenders it reads 5/100 and Black Diamond on the doors. It has unique alloys, a front grille guard, power windows, cruise, A/C, Etc. The owner said she bought it from the original owner with 30k miles on it a few years ago for $2,500 in Colorado. She claimed the owners son was on the US Ski Team and Subaru gave him this car, reportedly #5 of 100 made. It's not turbocharged. Anybody know anything about these?http://groups.msn.com/USMB/83blackdiamond1of100.msnw?albumlist=2

The EA82 blackout kit came standard on 4WD turbo GL-10's (wagon's and sedan's, full time or part time) and all or most 3DR coupes (turbo's, N/A, GL, DL). I love the Blackout option, thinking of converting the '90 Loyale.

What is understeer and oversteer? On my '87 RX coupe, it came with 16mm rear and 18mm front. I replaced the rear with a 20mm and the front with a 19mm (have a 20mm too) What would be the results of a stiffer rear bar? 20mm rear vs. 19mm front? My car squeals the front tire going into a corner (pushing?) The back end doesn't feel like it wants to come around at all. Is this because of the bars or front wheel drive? Should I go to the 20mm front bar? I didn't seriously test any corners until after I made changes, I know, dumb. Also I put on the stiffer wagon springs on the back and lowered the car about 1.5 inches by removing a coil from the front and rear (further stiffening the spring ratio) The car rides firm and corners noticeably flatter. Ideas, comments? BTW Jay~I had a '65 Buick Skylark GS401! I loved that car till a lady in a Honda pulled out in front of me (before the brake mods LOL) It was silver with the wine (light burgundy) interior. A Classic!!!

Is that spider intake similar to the turbo version? Price depends on whether it's repairable or as parts car and how bad you need/want it. Rough Subarus are very plantiful right now, around here anyway. They are way cheaper than they were even a year ago. You didn't mention if it run and is driveable?

Yep, I like it, thanks for your hard work guys. Let me know when and where to send a donation.

In addition to the preceding info, I would add the following from the FSM. Turn the key, engine off. Connect only the white (or black) connectors. Turn the key on, engine off. Record the stored code(s). Turn key, engine off again. Disconnect the white (or black) connectors. Connect the green connectors. Turn the key on, engine off. Record the code(s). If you get a code under both test procedures look at the unit detailed in the code list. If you get a code with the white (or black) but not with the green ones, it's in the wireing harness connected between the unit and the ECU, or the ECU. I didn't read the second link, this info may be included there.

I'm guessing it's a RX coupe or sedan, or a pre-RX coupe with the black skirt, nice score Miles, get that turbo running!

Experimental TURBO engine update...and more.
XSNRG replied to a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That's great that the engine has held up and your getting that performance! Calebz, I think you theory is correct. Lower compression = bigger combustion chamber = more room for fuel/air mixture. In practictice the difference in performance on a street car may be minor. -
Yep, the 3 dr made it''s debut mid year '87
