Properly installing timing belts on EA82?
I have a copy of the instructions from the FSM I just threw in the garbage. I could yank them out and fax or mail to you. I could explain the process but it is lengthy. Personally I do rotate the engine simply because there is no positive mark at 6 o'clock to line up the cam. I think it's easier to flop the engine over once than do the job twice:-)

Sube convertable?
There was a dealer in Arizona or California that built a few, very rare. Richie has one as did somebody else too. Qman can fill you in on details about the origin. There are some picture floating around too.

You guys should stay away from that stuff so early in the day:drunk:

quick ea81toea82 swap question
I'm pretty sure the clutches are the same diameter but the EA82 probably has a bigger input shaft.

October 12th Hillsboro Rallycross
Matt, I'm interested to see you run the EA81 T. GLCraigGT, did I get to meet you down there? I saw your car, nice. Flow, it's cool to see you and Harpua do so well in N/A wagons. Hondasucks, clean runs are the key to winning!!! Calebz, Thats' cool, might be a little far to go for the day though They have a lot of road rallies up here too. Not sure if they are the smae but they also run what's TSD (time, speed distance) rallies. They have them evry Friday night in Seattle and there some that last all weekend too. It sounds like fun, alot of guys that don't want to get thier car dirty run these.

Portland Rally-X Results are Up
Yes Brian, GOOD JOB! I thought everyone did very well and it was great to see so many of us there. My rookie season too and I can't wait till next year! DRX, You would have to be there to understand how much the track varied during different parts of the day. Early, before anybody ran, the field was very wet, so the early runs were slow but started getting better, till it rained then it was so slick, you could hardly walk on the track and some of the two wheel drive car were actually getting stuck. In the afternoon the sun came out and the wind was blowing and the track dried out nicely and got very fast, this was when the Justy ran. He's also a good driver. Doc, you would like this Justy, it looks like a RX, All white with white trim and white hubcaps, lookslike my cars kid brother.

October 12th Hillsboro Rallycross
Matt, I'm just going be what's in your sig, or is melon just your nickname? The SCCA is looking for a venue for a additional 2/3 races next year so if anybody sees any big flat fields keep this in mind. I did email Wayne at Field Racing to see if he would consider inviting the SCCA for a couple events. It would be a great way to expose people to his place.

October 12th Hillsboro Rallycross
No kidding, I wasn't even looking hard and noticed they spelled John's name wrong (how hard is it to spell JOHN?) and Eric's last name. Actually, I think they DID spell Matt's name wrong? Shoot Matt that's great in a car you've never driven before. The guy in the STI got 25th out of 25 (street tires and not counting the DNF)

First Post: What to look for/avoid in a '80-'85 Wagon?
Some things I like to see, may seem obvious. Lower miles, 100k to 150K. Some sign of proper maintanence, such as, Records if available. If not, Overall clean appearance. Genuine Subaru parts such as belts, hoses, oil filter. If not OEM, should be good aftermarket and in good shape. Even tire wear. No funny noises, pulling or jerking when driving, no big oil leaks. I alway look underneath the car to see if there are obvious signs of abuse, such as, a lot of dents scratches and scrapes to the underside, unibody of the car. Try every accessory on the car to make sure they work properly. Check the axles boots, fluid levels, etc. If all of this looks good, take it to a respectable mechanic for a inspection and run a carfax report. I'm sure there are many other things I'm forgetting. Welcome aboard and good luck finding a car, there are some nice ones out there in this area and reasonable. Mark
