LX 4 spokes, and rear disc's
XSNRG replied to Adam N.D.J.'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Adam, this won't answer your question but may help. I tried a EA81 style white spoke on the front of my XT-T and it wouldn't fit but did fit fine over the rear disc brakes. You could always grind away at the caliper if need be. -
Are you running without a rear driveline with the diff lock on?

I'll wheel wichya, nice website.

Anyone running aftermarket or custom intake manifold?
XSNRG replied to Dante's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It would be interesting to get standard and a spider manifold on a flow bench. Don't forget the rice factors: Simply making a change adds horsepower (even decals will accomplish this). If it looks better, it MUST be better (it's amazing how fast your car will go with colored vacuum lines)...LOL BTW...I'm adding a spider to my RX:D -

Non RX Full-Time 4wd 3dr?
XSNRG replied to StormTrooper's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That's a great car. Mine was the darker Twilight Blue. I'm trying to buy the car back, I wish I wouldn't have sold it. Lake Blue is one of my favorite colors, same as my beloved '88 full time 4wd turbo wagon. -
Non RX Full-Time 4wd 3dr?
XSNRG replied to StormTrooper's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had a '87 3dr turbo coupe. Was identical to my '87.5 RX with these exceptions: 55 VIN, blue paint, black air dam and spoiler, mud flaps instead of side skirts. It did have turbo, full time dual range trans, LSD, RX interior. I also saw a 3dr turbo coupe with non full time dual range. I don't know what year it was and didn't get to see the VIN. It also had the black air dam and spoiler with mud flaps, the car was black too. I'm speculating but I think the 3dr full time turbo non-RX may have been sold prior to the mid year '87 release of the RX coupe. -
If you don't want a scoop, you can run a fan instead. You may be recirculating warm (hot) air but at least it's moving...

I saw this EA81 wagon. The owner said Subaru gave these to the US Ski Team. She purchased it from the mother of the skier, in Colorado, I don't recall the name. Being #5 of 100, I'm guessing it was one of the top skiers. This car was very deluxe having most options, including PW, air, cruise, alloys, brush guard, etc and black paint (no turbo). http://groups.msn.com/USMB/83blackdiamond1of100.msnw

Easy way to pull out Wrist pins on an EA-82?

How hard were they to get out? -

XSNRG replied to RallyKeith's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There is a factory tool for that. I haven't seen one but I'm guessing it goes in the pin and expands and then is removed with a slide hammer. I thought about making designed like the gooseneck of a bicycle. As you tighten it, it expands, then the slide hammer would pull it out. Maybe somebody can post a pick of one. I tried to borrow one last summer to pul a engine apart but had no luck, maybe one is available now? -
I did my EA81 with a tilt like this. Pull the steering wheel. remove the top and bottom plastic covers. unplug and remove the combination switch. unhook the tilt springs. remove four 10mm bolts. unplug and remove switch. If at anytime you need more working room, unbolt and lower column. Reverse order for assembly.

You could do the MPFI swap with the VW Injection. The VW injection unit is very simple with very few inputs. You would need a pair of turbo heads. The you could keep the EA81 and have a simple F/I setup. This would allow you keep most of you stock wiring and stuff. There is a right up somewhere.

Great pictures, looks like a fun day. I wish there was a place around to fish for Soob parts!

Engine color? Requests wanted.
XSNRG replied to JonOfScio's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I vote for highly polished aluminum. More work, yes but nothing looks better and it will cool better than a painted surface. I'm doing my RX engine like this, inside and out... http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/polish.htm -
Properly installing timing belts on EA82?
XSNRG replied to viceversa's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm guessing he would take it out on you, I'm too far away:lol: -
That sounds like a lot of neg camber. Any of the interior guts for sale?
