  1. Hi Folks , I'm back on the USMB , still have my 81 gl wagon , the one that started my love affair with these wonderful cars , I've sold a few , and bought a few more . I love these cars , I want one of each model ( if I had the $$$$$ ) I'll be hunting some parts soon , just wanted to say "HI" and begin again . Thanks
  2. No mention of Dave Mathews ? great tunes to wrench to . I saw a lot of Subaru's at the last DMB show , you mean to tell me I'm the only one that fixes my own Subaru of all those fans ?
  3. why are you turning your car off at long lights ? do you overheat / get hot ? you should be able to sit at a light and idle for a good long light , no problems . try to fix the "real" problem , try not to create new ones .
  4. Wow , very nice ! is it considered "ok" to put custom wheels and tires on such a beautiful / stock ride ? how about tinting the windows ? or is that frowned upon . I just love the looks of those older vans , it's flipp'in CUTE ! all the best , Murph
  5. My daughters first car was a hatch , that one you got there is beautiful , best of luck with the rest of the project ! all the best , Murph

Hey Tommy , that is artwork ! Nice job , doesn't look like you have too much into it other than time . very ,very , cool ! Two thumbs up ! all the best , Murph
  7. I see you've caught the USMB fever , it's very easy to get ! Welcome to the board . Wheels do so much for the looks of a car , very nice addition to your Cutie Car ! ....and on a side note , great POSTURE ! all the best . Murph
  8. I did the tailgate outside handle and bracket that holds the tag lights on my 96 legacy wagon . ( original one rusted to garbage ) Thanks to Sunset Subaru , in Sarasota , Fl. ! They ordered and shipped me every bolt - screw - plastic insert I needed to do the entire job , once again confirming why I love Subaru's , nice engineering and design , easy to get apart and back together , 30 minutes total . The rest of the car is almost completely rust free ! I love these cars !
  9. OR .... you tell your aunt to call the scrap yard and get back to work on your Subaru ! 350 chevys are great motors , also a dime a dozen ! let it go . all the best murph ( former GM owner - lots of chevys ) GO SUBARU !
  10. Congratulations ! they are cool cars , i had the opportunity to beat the snot out of a few of them , way back when i worked at a Oldsmobile/Nissan dealership . Just one minor problem with them ..... NOT A SUBARU ! best of luck with it ! murph
  11. wow , nice body ! the possibilities are endless with that clean start . best of luck with the new addition . all the best , murph
  12. licened and insured before a test drive ? wow , that screams confidence ! best of luck with the new ride . So cool that you found "the one" you've always wanted all the best , murph
  13. Hello , really cool ride you got there , I like that a lot ! Very nicely done project ,looks clean and professional . I'm really curious what you paid for it ...... but won't ask . no matter what the price .... if you love it , that's all that matters ! enjoy ! all the best , murph ........really curious !
  14. how about pinching the hose going to the overflow bottle , take it off and fold it over ? all the best murph
  15. wow , what a difference ! looks so cool now , great job . all the best , murph
  16. 96 legacy same thing , gonna go with a new one , closest Subaru dealer 1 hour away bummer . oh well , i love the car , so it's not a huge deal . all the best , murph
  17. Never occurred to me to use air for this application . I have a homemade hoist i picked up at a yard sale CHEAP , needs a new cylinder - i think i'm going with air - thanks for the inspiration and idea . love this site , subaru people are very cool

  20. Congratulations ! that is a really sweet wagon , wish i could find one in such nice shape . All the best , Murph
  21. Oh I like that dropped look ! Not ALL subaru's have to be lifted ! Sometimes you just gotta slamm it ! nice job on the motor , looks good . Any plans for wheels and tires ?
  22. welcome welcome , should have no trouble finding what you need , lots of cool folks here . you people thawed out yet from the winter ? lol , sorry ......i used to live in upstate NY . all the best , Murph
  23. 30,000 original miles are you sure about that ? wow , that is cool ! Maybe the wrong bolt was re-installed on the tensioner ? just a fuzz too small ? I personally have not had much luck with heli-coils , but a bigger bolt may not fit in the pulley ..... taking shots in the dark here . good luck , all the best , Murph
  24. One more clutch cable possibility , I was given a 82 wagon a few years ago , because after installing a new clutch and cable , the guy forgot to reconnect a ground wire from the body to the motor . VIP ! the car used the clutch cable as a ground - it melted and started a fire that did enough damage to send it to the scrap yard , after i grabbed a few parts . Anybody ever heard of this before ? thanks , all the best , Murph
  25. My 2 cents - I wouldn't suggest a used windshield , I currently have two that are cracked , from age and the florida sun . The way I see it , it's just not worth the cost to put in a used one and have it crack on you after a short while .... go new !
