Is there any diff between XT/Alcyone/Vortex?
WJM replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
They had more power and just about all of them had factory oil coolers. -
Finally out of the garage. New pic

5 lug? Find a 4wd XT6 and swap those parts over...control arms, front knuckle-hub assy and strut with the tie rod ends. rear...the hub and backing plate. -
Sweet. This means i should be in the 14's.

WJM replied to Skip's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Skip, just make the 78 a peice of decor in your home. Drive one of the other Skip'ster Mobiles daily. :-p -
Cut the bracket for the brake lines so you dont need to bleed or disconnect the lines. You will need a spring compressor. Since you are getting an odd wear pattern...go for an alighnment afterwards...normally its not needed on the EA82 cars, there is no way to adjust camber on them anyhow. Taking the struts out of the knuckle is hard if they've not been out since...like...ever. However, on my RX, they come out every month, so....they pop right out.

How do the EJ's run with no t-stat in it? The guage acts like there is no t-stat in it, it gets horrible gas mileage, and runs a little strange....hardly ever gets aboce the C mark...unless you sit for a while, then it climbs a little and then you drive...and it goes back down to C...hmmm... I guess I need to pop it open and put in a new one even if there is one. Its a 1996 Legacy Outback 2.5 Phase 1 (EJ25D DOHC) with an Auto.

Eh....im not going to do it. If it were a RHD car I could do it easier... Hm...Mad Tite JDM RX twin turbo....I need to import one to do that.
-
After looking at it...start+Master cylinder=no space for turob over there. Engine management will come WITH this setup, as the disty will dissapear.
-
Two VF7's on it. Who wants to help me with this? *COUGH*JWX*COUGH* Has anyone ACTUALLY TT'ed an EA82 or ER27 and it ran properly and drove it on the street?

its a matter of adjust the nuts on the end of the cable on the clutch arm on the transmission.

MPFI and TURBO ecus are the same IIRC. -
I had investigated the use of Impreza/Legacy rear diff protectors on the RX/older EA82 cars. one of them was nearly a bolt up item.

I see... get over to Top Speed tomorrow and get yer clutch and junk manq. :-p

Bond, James "Skip" Bond. LOL Ive been wondering if the Skip'ster was going to post oil temps....those sound about right for what I was thinking these engines make. I imagine in my case, autocrossing on hot days....mine gets up to 280 maybe. 'Tis time for an oil cooler setup for sure..... I think that I willbe tapping the oil pan with a guage sender, a digital one from Summit....and along with that, a digital water temp guage as well. That reminds me...oil pressure guage too. damn, i need a real wideband and A/F 'tuner' for the car as well.

What I did was pop the cover off the air flow meter (AFM from now on) and adjsut the spring tension for the flapper door in there....that way it in essence made the car run a little bit richer than normal...and gave it more fuel up tigh. However...its still not enough fuel with stock injectors and engine management for it to last under long periods of high boost.
-
WRONG. 1985-1986 fuel cut can be unplugged and perminatly disabled. 1987 + MAF-Hotwire cannot be unplugged....its built in with the voltage input from the MAF. the problem was that the Vane air flow meter was NOT calibrated correctly with high boost. After tweaking it this problem went away. It was NOT getting enough fuel up high and running SUPER-ULTRA lean....hince the stumble and short engine life after that point. This porblem does NOT exist on the 87+ MAF-Hotwire systems, but you do hit fuel cut after 10 seconds of 9 PSI+.
