  1. You could plum it with a 90 degree silicone bend and tube if it really made a difference. [EDIT] from above ^^^ it seems like this might hit the hood? Oh well...
  2. It sounds like you might be using a 25 spline (Turbo style) front CV axle in a 23 spline (non Turbo) car. If the axle fits on the stub of the transmission with lots of slop then it's not right. The roll pin will fail almost instantly.
  3. Try and find an old Paseo or Tercel late '80's to early '90's and make sure to chop the plugs and connectors.
  4. It helps to move them off of the intake manifold so they don't roast to death . I put mine on a little bracket on the right rear of the engine and extended the vaccum hoses. The hoses were hard so they were replaced as well.
  5. @coxy How you would deal with this on areas where you can't get to the back side like inside the unibody or rocker panels, etc.
  6. The member named "ivans imports" does a lot of these I from what I have read. He mentions in more than 1 thead about adding a spacer for the reverse gear. Perhaps you could send him a message.
  7. @tweety Aren't you running SPFI? You can push the timing up to about 28 degrees to make more power without any risk on good quality fuel. They really "wake up" with a little more advance. Remember, the factory specifications are 25+ years old In my opinion modern fuels seem to require slightly different specs. Try and push the timing up a slightly from stock (if your fueling properly) and see if it rattles. If so, then back it off a bit and road test again until you find the "sweet spot".
  8. @wagonist Welcome! I hope that you enjoy your stay
  9. Take a look at Youtube for dashboard repair or recovering. People are doing some pretty impressive repairs in their own home shops these days. If the structure isn't totally destroyed I bet you can fix it. One of several different ways.
  10. I realize that, I was offering free or low dollar alternate solution for the problem. I also have a good used gas door with a working button if the O/P wants one. Make offer.
  11. Welcome! It's a great place to be. "You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave! "
  12. A friend of mine put a lock cylinder in there when his broke. He has a factory looking locking gas cap door now lol. I'm not sure how he did it though.
  13. SPFI hard to find throttle stumble (especially if it's better when cold) sure could be a flaky TPS. I chased one of these on my car for quite a while. It's a night and day difference once it's running properly. Good Luck!
  14. I have some extra parts for these if you need some rocker arm bits
  15. It might end up being easier to swap the heads for ones that have the proper accessory holes. The center mounted EA81T - EA82 style power steering brackets also require mounting bosses that may be missing from the block just to the left of the distributor on the early EA81's. Other than that you could probably fab up a custom bracket, but it might require welding skills. You could also find an electric power steering pump from an XT6 or a Mini-Cooper and mount it in the spare tire well
  16. I have seen them installed both ways many times. I am sure it isn't correct but it does seem to work. Perhaps someone knows the exact difference? Crankshaft end-play is common on the older engines that were used with a manual transmission due to the repeated pressure from using the clutch.
  17. Awesome! I don't even know what else to say!
  18. Davebugs - Last Active Aug 24 2013 I hope he is alright...
  19. It really is as easy as it sounds. Basically just a trans remove and replace. Grab the interior stuff, shifters and trim. It should be all plug and play.
