  1. Shizzle....I don't know if the 81t and 82t are the same sensor. Not so "super quick" is it? Too bad...hope I helped.
  2. I believe that is the temperature sender...for the temp guage, not the computer. best I can help ya. The number 2 is the sender. The Coolant temp sensor (CTS) is under the intake. Looks like this If you goto www.rockauto.com you can get the Genuine Subaru sensor for $19 and shipping.
  3. By something else and bring the y pipe and the other part up to the counter...when they try to charge ya for it,tell them they can't legally sell this, but you'll pay a little extra for the other part.
  4. Subaru is going to release a boxer diesel, if they haven't already. AS for a diesel in a Brat, I'd almost guarantee they'd be on this board if it was. That would be cool to have a diesel...Imagine the low end torque....but you'd probably have to redo the gearing in the gear box to accomendate the low power band of the diesel? Also, could it have been one of those VOlkswagon truck things...could look like a Brat to someone, especially a salesman?
  5. No, it has two cams, yes, but it doesn't have 2 cams per head... hence dual over head cam. Just one cam per head. My outback has DOHC (4 cams), 2 per head.
  6. May sound far fetched, but I'm thinking a grounding problem. Check your grounds, maybe add some more. How's the alternator?
  7. I wasn't trying to put you above us or saying that you're better...just pointing out that having a shop is nice. No :Flame:from my camp. Why is it that almost all subaru owners have done extensive work on their vehicles in gravel? Is it because they leak?
  8. Do you have an area you can plug a block heater into? Something like this?
  9. For most people, it may not be a time/tools/or knowledge thing, but a nice, dry, and warm spot to work on the car in. I'm in a freezing shop. The only part of us you see is our face, the rest is covered in warm clothing. You're running around in a t-shirt. Hopefully we'll get our wood stove in soon. As for the rust work. That's awesome, I hope you inspire many people to restore their vehicles.
  10. What is the timing set at? Should be 20 degrees btdc. With the two green connectors connected under the steering wheel. You never said anything about setting the ignition timing. Are all the plug wires in the right spot. (I like to think it's a simple fix). As for the oil pump seizing. Did it immediately stop running, I imagine it would, but you never know. Maybe some damage was done to the engine?
  11. If I was going to be off road only, I'd use the $20 ones the original poster posted about. You should start another thread about these, as posting them on someone's thread who is trying to market these is kind of vain. Now, for on-road use, yes, CNC would be preferred, but as you'll find out, (I've said this before) there's a reason most of us drive these old Subarus, necessity. Most of us can't afford $100 a hub. Especially when you can almost get the whole impreza/xt6 conversion setup for that.
  12. With all do respect, lifting Subarus and putting bigger wheels and tires on them isn't exactly keeping people safe. Bigger wheels/tires means more stopping power is needed and I don't think the Subaru Engineers designed the stock brake system (small rotors) to stop huge tires plus miscellaneous additions like bumpers. If you keep it off road, cool, but once you get on a road, you are putting others in danger. If you want to put it in that perspective. Also, I do have a lifted wagon that I do plan on putting bigger tires/wheels on and I don't plan on doing much with the brakes. I also understand that you don't think he should be marketing this for general sale. I agree, but, I'm not going to shoot him down and tell him that his idea is bad. But maybe suggest that he states "off road use only". Then maybe he can get some money together to get some of the correct tools and then he can make them more precisely. This board has been leaning to the "shoot the idea down" side than "Well, that sounds like a good idea but maybe you should start with..." Maybe you did mean that, but I inferred it otherwise.
  13. Well at least you stayed Subaru. I did the same, I bought an Outback and still have a 82 gl and 87 RX
  14. The engine bay is too clean? Not enough oil residue.
  15. Maybe this will help check your work TIMING BELT PROCEDURE-Miles Fox. You probably know, ea82t's are timed 20'BTDC. So, with the flywheel at 20' btdc, the left (Driver's side) cam mark should be ~30-40 degrees to the right about 2 'o clock. Then put the distributor in with the rotor pointing at the #1 plug I think it's the closest to the brake canister (someone confirm/correct me, it's been a-while).
  16. A 1994 Brat would be worth it's weight in gold. Not really, but you know what I mean!
  17. Depends on how cold it gets there and how fast you would like your car to warm up. As you probably can tell or know, it draws a warm/hot draft of air into the intake so the engine can run right, because cold fuel doesn't atomize as well as warm fuel. There might be other reasons it's there. But if you notice, the valve closes (On the tube) as the engine warms up. You could look into a block heater for the coolant. Keeps it warm and makes cold starts not as hard on your engine. How cold does it get in Nebraska? EDIT: You don't need to block off the the part coming off the intake. If you did, and it's cold, your car probably won't start, as it would draw air from the end the tube was on.
  18. I know. But that's like a kindergarten teacher yelling at his students because they don't know what he knows and have stupid ideas. As for Dain's comment, I don't know what that was about, kinda uncalled for.
  19. How many people, back in the day, when they first heard that someone wanted to stick an EJ22 into a EA and keep the stock transmission, thought it was a wild/stupid idea. I'm sure the idea wasn't taken as "Oh, yeah, sounds great, do it." Probably something like "What the hell...that'd be too much work to be worth it." was said. I'm saying that yeah, ideas are crazy, but they shouldn't be shot down. Here's a quote to think about:
  20. Yes. You could do a EJ swap. You could do the same that everyone else is doing. Or, I know the aircraft engine is rated for a certain RPM band...that's higher than most anything that's pratical to a car. I was trying to make a point that having a "powerfull" ea81 engine in an ea81 car would be awesome, if I had the money, I'd make it happen. You can make anything powerful and fast by modifying or even putting a whole other type of engine in it. Wait, it must be my naive age and experience.
  21. Fuel filter(s). I swear by replacing those.
  22. I'm thinking you popped a head gasket. That happened to me on my Outback. Were there signs of head gasket failure, before this? You know...a little steam out the pipe and/little coolant loss? That's what my outback was like. Then cruising down the freeway and bluh...just crapped out. Lost enough compression not to start up. But I wasn't lucky enough to park at a bar, I was in the middle of nowhere and didn't have a beer. Hopefully it wasn't a HG...like he said, a horrible intake gasket failure.
  23. That's cool. HAH ...pickup!? I don't think they were imported as a truck...due to tariffs...I heard they were an open back car hence the jumpseats.
