  1. yeah, they are def. spendy. I have about 1200 bucks in air shocks down stairs.but i only paid about 750ish total for them.buy them in pairs, that either need rebuilds, or piece it out. for a pair of 8" F-O-A single rates you can be out the door for about 400. http://f-o-a.com/shop/index.php?main_page=shopping_cart&number_of_uploads=0 They have a damn good reputation and are well priced. When i go to coilovers , i will get FOA.not that means anything.just been reading alot:grin:.cheers
  2. Whats the measurement from the tophat mounting area to the top of the upper a-arm? It looks in the pics like the car is at ride height up front.IF that is the case then why not try to stuff a premade coilover in there. It looks like there is enough room.Say, like a Fox style coilover, dual rate springs and such. There are several other companies to choose from as well. Just curious i guess. You are dealing with upper mount issues, of course unless you cut a bunch of sheet metal:grin:..The bottom shock mount could go on the upper a-arm, as simple as a plate and a couple of tabs sticking up. If you can find one to fit then the tophat mount could be the same , only upside down...or the shock could protrude through the tophat mount hole, and have some missing hood , as mentioned before. Just throwin ideas around. cheers
  3. If i remember correctly i used the entire strut from an RX,with an ea81 tophat. I got about an inch lift out of it also.......My brat worked out well with those struts up front. cheers
  4. Why not just add cutting brakes or a line lock Mick?:grin:cheers
  5. lookin good scott.getting that mount up higher is def. better.cheers, b
  6. nice header work mate!!!!cheers b
  7. Fram=crap..............from paper particulates once break down ensues.crap, crap, crap...........
  8. I have made a 4.44 into an old school LSD.works fine.no special parts.Just the puzzle of the chunk going in.Cheers, B
  9. holy back from the dead...... like almost all of my projects during that time this fizzled out.. i would like to do this to a syncro though:) cheers, b
  10. It might be easier to just make a rock slider idea insitu of the rocker panel.that way you can tie into the "frame rail"....just my 2 cents.....:)cheers, b
  11. I will be driving out of OlyWa as well....
  12. Where is Deer Island?cheers
  13. You mean the rear hatch itself?Cant be that hard.I have pulled one out , but not put one in.:)IIRC it is all under the plastic along the door sill, then up and through the hump... We can do it!!!!!Together.Like friends do.Cause I'll be semi local!!!!! cheers, me
  14. 4" in combination With the tires of course.I used 1" spacers. Some generic brand from thE Bay.I had to trim the ************ out of it for the tires though. Still need to flare out the fronts more.cheers
  15. I stepped away from those. They are still not finished.I decided I wanted to have a lower/stuffable stance.Big/Tall is not always better. The main reason we raise our bodies is to clear tires, and although I still need a skosch I will be getting it a different way. Your plates will be perfect for mounting your shocks too.Thats what I had planned for the hatch the first time around. cheers
  16. I like the gravel express stuff, but do not wish to spend the dough on it. With the 07 forester struts i netted about 4"ish of lift. When I get back to her i will do a couple more inches.maybe.I am trying to just have a fun basic DD. I COULD do all kinds of things, but I am trying to control myslef.I want to get back to working on the Huggy.... I'll do some more stuff this summer, but i am bad about tying up loose ends.So it may not be much.I will be working on the West side of our state this Summer, so it will be hard to get stuff done. cheers

Excellent vehicle, I used to live in Fairbanks.I miss that place sometimes. You might make some mounts intermittenly about the forward tube, before the cowl mounts.Stability and strength can help smaller tubing like that survive. Also, your bound to hit the exhaust like that, ALthough badass looking. It could have ill effects on money weell spent. She is rather hot though(sorry i always refer to them as she's)...cheers Just my 2cents...also , check out the Offroad version of this website. cheers
  18. I have all kinds of noises that I can't trackdown. After the rear struts rubbing the body and needing a beating, the bearings that i did to make sure that i had space, etc, etc, etc, These rims clear my struts, but i have spacers, i would look there. There are several types of these rims out there that look the same,.The chrysler pt cruiser has the same rim, different backspace, so unless they were specifically for a Subaru, i would be weary.Unless of course you do the research and find all of the proper offsets.Which can be anywhere between 3.5 to 5.5.........just sayin, there is alot that goes into some of the simplest things I find..... cheers
  19. actually i had one years ago.It was done by brazing a base plate onto the stock kidney.I wish i could say i made it, but it was a junkyard score. I gave it to a kid on here once.I think the one o traded Lilly off to.. I'll see if i can find a pic, but it would be a longshot if i did... cheers
  20. Didna feel like readin. But , on 2nd gen brats the rear shock mounts up in the fenderwell is open.clean it out if it is worth it, then fill it in with your fancy,....be it foam,or some other filler. what happens is thet it gets full of dirt, then holds water.the inside of the bed will rust first.so check the wheel wells in the bed. any seams underneath. etc like has beeen said. cheers
  21. totally, i have been building my latest one for like 3 yrs already.looks like it might make a cross state move, hopefully this time it will actually get a shop!good things just take time!!!!!!cheers
